Stefan looked to Claire curiously as she seemed to be conflicted or struggling with what she wished to say to him, but he patiently waited. His bright blue eyes flickered up momentarily to look over to where the king and queen were, ensuring that they were alright. As Claire finally began to speak, he returned his attention to her and smiled.
I wanted to catch you today, so I could get you alone, so then I could thank you properly- His eyes widened in a bit of surprise. She wanted to catch him? She wanted to get him alone? Oh-- To thank him properly. For what? He looked at her confused, but then she began to explain herself in one long breath. He laughed and shook his head. "No need to thank me, my lady... It's what I am here for." Well, he was mostly here to guard the queen, but he felt that meant ensuring her ladies were safe, as well.
She thought he was super sweet and super nice though, and that made him grin. "I hope you are feeling better now? You really shouldn't be out in this cold...Are you doing alright?" He looked her over briefly and saw how bundled up she was. At least she had done that for herself. "Can I walk you back to the castle?" He thought for a moment and scratched the back of his neck as a look of confusion washed over his features. "Or... Are we still playing this game? Does this mean you've captured me and need to kiss me?" He smirked and winked playfully at her, unsure if that was what she wanted. "You don't have to if you don't want to..." He quickly added, suddenly feeling a bit embarrassed that he had brought it up.

"No, you're supposed to protect the Queen, and I'm not- Well I'm not anything special so it meant a lot." She blurted in response to him saying it's what he was there for. He was there for Alexandria, not little Claire. But, he was showing that sweet and super nice side of him again, and he was grinning at her. Oh fudging apples, don't smile at me like that! She thought. She found herself nodding her head rapidly at his question. "I'm okay!" That was something Claire at least said once a day to everyone. It had just become a force of habit. "Claire you doing alri-" "I'm okay!" she'd say. She really hated being a burden on anyone due to her weak immune system, and it was an insecurity she struggled with constantly.
"Can I walk you back to the castle?" Her eyes widened slightly and she had to crane her head back more to look up at him as he scratched the back of his head. What came out of his mouth left her speechless, and she was thankful her scarf hid her mouth from sight because she was gaping like a fish right now. Her eyes the size of saucers and her face was turning bright red. And then he smirked and winked at her. Her heart stopped working. It had to of, because she felt frozen in place, and it was like her brain had shut off. "...need to kiss me..." It was full system Claire shut down, and there were several moments of silence as she just stared wide eyed up at him.
As if sensing the growing awkwardness, Claire finally rebooted, and it was like she'd just taken six shots of espresso. "Oh- well of course I do! Who wouldn't, have you met yourself?! of course you have, you're you, you know you better than you, but I just wanted to thank you for helping me out, that was the prize I wanted unless you want really want me to, and oh sugar snaps, is it hot out here? I think it's hot out here, I put on too many layers, it's getting really hot, OH MY GOSH WHAT DID I JUST SAY!?" If she had talked fast before she was a whirlwind now. She didn't think about what she said she just said it, and then the realization hit her, and she suddenly wanted climb into a bush and to never come out. But she couldn't leave it at that! She just couldn't! "You don't want to kiss me I'll me get you sick! Or-or covered in boogers! Besides you'd just hurt your back bending down, because you are very toll, and I am very smol, and Oh my sweet peas, CLAIRE SHUT UP!" She said on her second wind of hurried breath, and then she squeaked at herself to just shut her mouth. This was embarrassing, this was to much. she just- She just needed to walk away. Better, she just needed to go and hide. She turned abruptly away, and walked right into a hedge. She stumbled back again, remembered the incident with the door, and she let a disgruntled little whine out before she suddenly just thought to tell heck with it, and began to climb into the hedge so Stefan wouldn't have to see her make an even bigger idiot of herself, and so she could just hide.

Was it pathetic how considerate and caring he was? How he'd so easily fall for something like a damsel in distress tactic, and that she knew he would fall for it? Or was it mean of her to use that to her advantage?
Triston was about to remove her shoe when he felt her hand on his shoulder and heard the strain disappear from her voice as she spoke. For you see, Lord deGrey, I have won. He glanced back up at her in time to see that smile spread on her face and he looked at her with a confused expression. Dark eyes watched her, a small grin formed on his lips and he shook his head at her, a bit in disbelief. "Very clever, your majesty." He laughed. Was it cheating, or just being clever? She played him well, and he sort of admired that. Anyone who said or thought she was not capable of ruling a kingdom, did not seem to know her very well.
He shook his head in response to her question, "I won't tell that you cheated..." Even though she was not hurt, Triston remained crouched down in front of her. "...As long as you don't tell that I fell for you playing me..." He laughed again and looked her in the eyes for a brief moment, which caused his smile to falter and his expression to grow more serious. "But... You know what this means now, though, don't you?"
The queen had been so focused on capturing him, did she remember what the whole end result of the game was? She had to kiss him. Would she, though? He wondered. Had she wanted that all along, or did she just wish to capture someone-- anyone, to show that she was capable of doing so.

Shane was insisting that he'd carry her anyway. She let out an exaggerated sigh as if defeated and would not fight him on it any further, except to add: "At least stop and take a break if I start to break your back!" She smirked and wrapped her arms a little tighter around his shoulders. If she had known him a little better, she may have rested her head down against him, but she fought the urge to do so. Even though she liked the way he felt against her, and the way he smelled. She could keep her composure, it was fine.
And yet, Shane was enabling her behavior, unlike what her mother would have said. Being stubborn and daring are endearing traits, my lady. It's not often one finds a woman so determined to win. In all honesty... She wasn't expecting to hear him say such a thing, and it immediately had her blushing and grinning. She lifted her chin and smirked as if suddenly proud of herself for having such endearing traits. Was he admitting that he liked these sorts of traits in a woman? "Is that a good thing? Being so determined to win? Mother would have told me..." She changed her voice to a more authoritative tone, "never let a man think you are strong. Never raise your voice. Always give in.." She laughed slightly and shook her head.
"What fun would that have been?!" Avalynn giggled softly. She could have started yelling and demand he climb down, but that just wasn't the type of woman she was. Perhaps it was her father who made her feel she needed to work for what she wanted. Her mother, on the other hand, had been one of those types of ladies who were stuck up and stuffing, wanting everything handed to her. And while Avalynn probably inherited some of her mother's traits, she often felt she was a lot more like her father. "OH?! What reason was that?" She asked him curiously. Avalynn imagined it was to stay away from those types of ladies who would have demanded he come down. "Should I have left you alone, then? Why did you get involved with the game then if you just wanted to hide? Do you regret that I found you? You could have just ignored me if you didn't want to be found! I would have never known you were up there if you hadn't... Oh dear god! Did you hear my rambling on? You heard me talking to myself, didn't you?" Her words spilled out in nearly one breath as she spoke and berated him with the various questions. She brought one of her hands up to cover her face embarrassed. "I am so mortified right now... Between you probably think I am insane for talking to myself... To nearly falling out of a tree... Not once... But twice! To almost breaking my ankle and now you have to carry me... What kind of a whirlwind you walked into, my lord!" She laughed at herself and moved her hand back down to her shoulder, letting bright blue eyes flicker back to him to watch his features. Was he totally annoyed with and put off by her yet?
She fell quiet, completely embarrassed with herself, but was glad when he finally spoke of being a sailor in the deGrey trading company. Oh god, this was just getting worse and worse. He knew of, and worked with the deGreys! One of the most important families of Tresteria, aside from the royal Demarais family. She smiled and nodded calmly. "That's nice...It's always nice when someone finds what they are good at...What they enjoy doing..." Well, she was assuming he enjoyed it at least. Why else would he not have looked back since? "My father was in the military and tried his hand at sailing for the navy... But he always said he was suited more for land." She smiled and shrugged her shoulders. "He was a skilled horseback rider and expert swordsman..." Why was she telling him this? It had nothing to do with being a sailor or in the trading company. She needed to just shut her mouth for the rest of the time she was with Shane.
"What do you like most about sailing, my lord?" So much for shutting up. "I have never been on a ship or out on the ocean... Just on the beach..."

Alexandria knew of that same darkness all too well. But instead of drinking, she had allowed that darkness to take hold of her and she closed herself off from everyone, hiding within herself, allowing for everything to slowly eat away at her. As he clung to her, she understood where his mind was going and she embraced him tighter. She would not allow him to fall, to drink his problems away. She would simply be there for him and do her best to make him forget, however she could. They were in this together--they'd promised one another that much, and she'd not let go of him for as long as she lived.
As they kissed, she could feel all of his emotion poured into it--something they had the habit of doing. Whatever words could not be said or expressed, it was easy to feel them in their intimacy. This time, it nearly made her cry, tears welling up in her eyes as their kiss continued. That darkness, she could feel creeping its way between them, as he fought to try and prevent it. She kept her eyes shut as their kiss broke and Aric rested his forehead against her, returning her words of endearment. When he thanked her, however, she opened her eyes and looked into his, offering him a gentle smile. "I will always be here for you, Aric..." She whispered against his lips before placing another quick kiss to his.
She stayed close to him for a moment longer before pulling back only slightly--just enough to look at him fully. The queen rested her hands on both sides of his face and forced him to look into her eyes. "Whatever is bothering you, my love...Please don't hide within yourself as I do... We promised we would always tell each other things and talk to one another. I cannot help you if I do not know what troubles you." She smiled softly at him and brushed fingers through his hair again. "It's getting cold... Can we head back? You can tell me what is bothering you as we walk?" She placed a hand on his shoulder and then rubbed his arm as if trying to reassure him that everything would be alright.

Stefan looked at her seriously, his brows lowering in reaction as she said she wasn't anything special. He frowned and shook his head, "Of course you are-- You are one of the queen's ladies... I think that means something. It does to her... You are special enough to have been allowed such a position, no?" He tried his best to reassure her. Despite what Claire thought-- he believed everyone was special in their own way and deserved to be treated with kindness and respect, regardless of who they were. It was how his mother had raised him. And with how his father treated them, he did not wish to see anyone else be treated badly.
He watched as that look of shock played across his features. Had he gone too far? Maybe he should not have said anything or suggested. Stefan was just about to say something, to assure her that they could forget the game and move on, but suddenly, life sprung into Claire and she began to ramble on rather hyper.
He blinked a few times and just stared at her, his grin growing with each sentence she spoke. He couldn't help the laugh that escaped him as she questioned if it was hot outside. He only responded with a shake of his head, remaining quiet as she continued to ramble on. You don't want to kiss me I'll me get you sick! Or-or covered in boogers! Stefan burst out laughing, remembering just the other day when he caught her with the booger running out her nostril. Oh, the poor girl had been devastated.
His mouth fell open to say something, but now it was his turn to be left speechless. What in god's name just happened? He was about to say something, but Claire suddenly turned away and walked into the hedge. He silently watched her with a raised brow as she tried, then, climbing into the hedge. He quickly moved towards her, a grin on his face as he was trying so hard not to laugh and make matters worse. He gently took hold of her arm and pulled her away from the hedge. "Hey...Where are you going? Come on, now..." He couldn't help but chuckle as he helped her away from the hedge. Once she was standing back in front of him, he placed his hands on her shoulders to keep her still.
It was both endearing and adorable to him how she had just stammered on with all of whatever that just was. "First of all..." He spoke gently and quietly, "everyone is smaller than me..." He grinned, still trying not to laugh. "Secondly, I have a very strong back and am used to bending down." He dipped down slightly to try and gain her attention. "Thirdly... I see no boogers coming out, so I don't think I would get covered in them." He finally laughed, but in a gentle, quiet sort of way. "Fourthly?" He wasn't sure if that was an actual word. "... I hardly ever get sick...And if I do, maybe you could take care of me, then?" He grinned and shrugged his shoulders. "And fifthly...." Again, not sure if that was a word. Claire had admitted that she wanted to kiss him: Oh- well of course I do! Who wouldn't, have you met yourself?! So he shouldn't have felt that he needed to ask, yet he still did, because he didn't want to completely take her by surprise. "May I give you the kiss you deserve for your capture?"

She wanted to die. To shrivel away and just poof from existence. But she couldn't very well do that, so climbing into the hedge would have to do. Or at least that's what she tried to do, but this hedge was thick! and well cared for. It was not going to be easily invaded by a 95 Ibs woman. She felt Stefan gently take her arm and her face just turned redder. This was so embarrassing! Just let her hide Stefan! Let her turn into the wall flower she was always destined to be! Go protect Queen Alexandria! She'd wanted to blurt at him. "Where's it look like I'm going!?' She found herself saying exasperated. She wanted in the hedge clearly! So she could hide. Forever.
Stefan apparently didn't like the idea of her disappearing into the void of hedges. It wasn't that hard to move her and once she was standing in front of him, her eyes were glued to his feet. She could feel his hands on her shoulders, preventing her from escaping. His gentle tone made her slowly raise her eyes up to his. She might not have the hedge to hide in, but she at least still had her scarp to hid behind. It hid half her face so he wouldn't see the way she was frantically chewing on her bottom lip. He was grinning again and laughing. Goodness he had such a nice laugh. "But I'm smaller then everyone else." She quickly pointed out. At only 5'1, everyone was taller. But she was nearly 2ft shorter than Stefan. She was child size next to him. He certainly got her attention when he dipped down slightly, and her eyes were getting big again. She could feel her face getting warmer as he continued. "You can't see them because of the scarf." She threw in. Trying to make more excuses as to why he couldn't kiss her. He didn't want to surely? But he continued to smile and laugh, and speak so gently to her, that Claire felt herself getting warm all over again and her anxiety spiked.
How many points was he going to make? The Idea of taking care of him if he fell ill? Would he even let her? She'd be willing of course, she liked helping whenever she could, but her thoughts were always self deprecating. He's only doing it because he helped me. He's only doing it because he's so nice, or he feels sorry for me. She thought. When he finally got to the last thing on his pointed list, Claire froze.
It was too much, it was all becoming too much. This was especially embarrassing. A pity kiss, that's what it was going to be, because of this stupid game. She'd only wanted to thank him, that was it, but then she'd blurted that she'd wanted to kiss him, which she did, but- but- She didn't want her first kiss to be because of a game. Sure Stefan being the first was a bonus, but still. She technically hadn't captured him. She'd walked up to him, she hadn't touched him or anything like that. She could feel the sting of tears as they sprung into her eyes as she looked up at him. This wasn't supposed to happen, he wasn't supposed know, he was supposed to just keep living his life while Claire kept her little crush to herself. "I didn't catch you though! I just walked up to you, and I didn't give any chase, I walked, you caught me!" She pointed to where his hands were on her shoulders, keeping her in place while she rambled again. "I don't deserve it." Her voice cracked as she told him with the first of the tears beginning to roll down her cheeks. "I don't deserve anything." She whispered as she averted her eyes and looked down at her feet.

Stefan stood there quietly as she finished giving all of her excuses against everything he had said. He frowned and slowly let go of her shoulders and took a step back. He noticed the tears rolling down her cheeks and he held his hands up. "I... I'm sorry... I did not mean to offend or upset you..."
He glanced down at the ground for a moment before looking back at her, a bewildered expression on his face. "I did not run... So how can you give chase if I did not bother to run?" He quietly added. "And who said you don't deserve anything?" His brows furrowed and he looked at her with concern. He was never really good with emotions and he didn't know what to say. "You deserve whatever you want, lady Beauchard..."
Stefan glanced up and around for a moment before returning his gaze to Claire. "Come on... Let's head back... You...We... shouldn't be out in this cold any longer." He motioned in the direction they should head back in but kept his eyes on her. He felt horrible for upsetting her and then not knowing what to say to make it better.

Rhysand was more than a little pleased to hear that he could count Elyscia as a friend. He meant what he said, too; he truly would be honored to step in and help her if ever he could. He could tell she was a good person, he thought, although he never gave himself much credit when it came to reading people. Still, she'd had plenty of time to make an impression so far, and everything he had seen from her was kind. He was almost disappointed that they were nearing the castle.
Hm?" He pulled his gaze from the castle to look at her with confusion. I...I suppose so, yes." He hesitated, his nose crinkling slightly in his chagrin. "I must confess, I had been planning to be 'horribly ill' tomorrow evening. But seeing as I misjudged this entire celebration, I bet I'll have a better holiday if I make an appearance." He paused, and raised his eyebrow at her. "You are going too, aren't you?"
It wasn't that he wanted to go with her, at least not in a romantic sense, but it would be good to have someone he knew he could trust there. Perhaps she could help him to find people who were worth talking to just as much as she was. He knew at least one of his cousins would be there as well...but that was different.

He was definitely the serious type, much like she. It made her chuckle, the way he seemed to take her statement. She rolled her eyes slightly with a smile. "Mm, don't take me so seriously, Nathaniel. I'm only teasing." She assured him gently before he was stating his preference in women. "Well then, you are just going to adore me." She said teasingly, not able to stop the grin that spread across her face.
Then he was asking if he was bothering her. A light laugh rang out and she tilted her head. "Believe me when I say that if you were a bother, you wouldn't need to ask such a question. It would be made clear." She lifted her chin confidently. "I am not a passive woman by any means." She said with a mischievous grin. "With that being said, and to actually answer your questions, no. I think if you were to choose to leave me be, I'd be a little disappointed. I actually enjoy your company already." She admitted quietly. It felt vulnerable in a way, for her to say such a thing. As if her entire resolve was suddenly dismissed on the words as she spoke them. She considered his next words for a moment before she nodded. "Well, to be truthful, I never intended to change. But, it doesn't hurt to try, I suppose." She said before a soft chuckle escaped her in a huff. "But then, perhaps that is still an attempt to change for the sake of others and their opinions." She mused. "But you are right. The people that matter will like me and take me as I am. Those that can't seem to do so, don't matter." It was nice to talk to someone so sensible.
Somehow, someway, that smile seemed to make her heart want to stutter, though it never quite fluttered in her chest. Even so, it didn't stop the faintest sensation of butterflies in her stomach. Her heart did skip a beat then at his confirmation and wink and she smiled, unsure how to respond for a moment. It took a moment for her to find her words. "Well, then I think we feel much the same on the matter." She said, looking straight ahead, unable to look at him with that charming little smile across his face. It made her feel something she wasn't prepared to feel yet, though she still couldn't stop that feeling from happening. "The more time I spend with you, the more I feel like this game wasn't such a waste of time. It's a pleasant feeling." She said then, looking up at him with a sweet smile.

Elyscia couldn't help but laugh as Rhysand admitted he had been planning to be ill to avoid attending the ball. She grinned and shook her head at him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I think you should give it a chance. You may have fun and enjoy yourself." She smiled at him and nodded. "Yes, I will be there. I helped with the overall planning and decorating, so I suppose I should make an appearance." Elyscia laughed again. In all honestly, she wasn't sure what to expect from the event. She was engaged, or last she knew she was. So, did that mean she couldn't spend her time flirting and looking for other eligible men to court? What if Kaiden wasn't returning? She wished she knew and had more answers.
"Perhaps you can save a dance for me?" Elyscia asked quietly, offering him a smile. They arrived at the castle and Elyscia stopped in their walk, moving to stand in front of him. "Well, Rhysand... Thank you for walking me back. I think you made great company, despite what you said." She grinned and took a step closer to him. "I suppose that is most deserving of a real kiss." She had promised him she would make a decision by the end of their walk, and he had willingly offered, so Elyscia closed the gap between them and placed a hand on his cheek before leaning up to him and pressing a soft and quick kiss to his lips. She backed off and smiled, "thank you for keeping me company. It has been nice to meet you."

Alice seemed to be a little difficult to read. He had taken her seriously, yet she was telling him not to and that she had only been teasing. He laughed nervously and scratched the back of his neck. "Ahh, Right." He responded a bit uneasily. How would he be able to tell if she was serious or not?
He smirked and looked at her as she stated he would adore her. "Oh, really?" He laughed, looking at her with a bit of mocked doubt, which quickly disappeared. "I think I already do." He teased her back with a wide grin.
Well, it would seem Alice was already answering his question without him having to ask it. He would simply know when she was being serious, as she stated she'd make it quite clear and she was not a passive woman. He liked that. A woman who spoke her mind and said what she wanted. They would get along well, he imagined. Nathaniel smirked, his smile touching the corners of his eyes as she admitted that she enjoyed his company. He responded with a nod and glanced down at her, "I've enjoyed your company as well, my lady."
Nathaniel never really tried to impress others. He wasn't the type to want to stand out. He much preferred being in the shadows of others, to follow, to do as he was told, to blend in. Perhaps it was influenced by his past and not wanting to be noticed or treated differently. But those who cared for him didn't mind who he was or how he was, and that was all that mattered to him. So she spoke to the lady with experience. Those who wished her to change--their opinions did not matter. He just smiled at her when she spoke of it and nodded in response.
Alice looked away from him and he allowed his gaze to shift and glance straight ahead, his smile never fading from his lips. Though, when she spoke, brown eyes returned to her and he smiled again. "Hmm... And it's been such a short time, and I've already made quite the impression on you?" He grinned a little bit wider and chuckled softer. "I'd say you'd be in trouble if you spend a day with me, then." He lightly joked before his tone grew more serious, "I am glad you feel that way. It is a pleasant feeling." He noticed her sweet smile, which only made his grow a little more. He decided then, that he'd want to spend a little more time with her. If not today, then perhaps another time. "Do you have plans to attend the Yule ball tomorrow?" He hoped she would say yes, at least to give him an excuse to be able to see her again.

"Is that so?" She asked him with a cocky tone, an even cockier expression across her face. "I'll admit I didn't intend on such a pleasant conversation with equally as pleasant company." She told him, glancing down at her feet briefly before she turned her brown eyes to his face. "But, I'd be a liar if I said that it is not the same for me. Seems you're easy to adore." She winked at him playfully.
She'd really come out from behind those callous walls during the short exchange with Nathaniel. It was something she hadn't done for some time and it felt freeing to unapologetically be her old self. Well, not really her old self, but the part of her being that she'd buried two years ago after her divorce from Darion. This man - this Nathaniel - seemed to reawaken that part of her and it hit like a brick wall, almost making her fearful of the waves that began to stir within her. The last time she'd began to feel an inkling of anything for a man, he'd shown her why she should never, in one of the most awful ways possible. Was it wrong of her to assume that all men were alike? Absolutely. Did she want to view Nathaniel in such a dark light? Absolutely not. Still, she couldn't stop the inner turmoil that stirred each time she wanted to smile at him and his remarks, each time she felt her heart began to skip a beat when he grinned at her like that. All in all, it made her more curious about him.
Alice quickly returned her attention back to him when he spoke up once more and she laughed lightly. "Now, now, don't go flattering yourself." She waved a finger at him teasingly, though his next statement caused her to tilt her head at him. "Would you now?" She asked, looking up at him from beneath her dark lashes. "And just what do you suppose would happen that would get me into trouble? Would I fall madly in love with you?" She continued to tease, lifting her chin to him and batting her lashes mockingly. She hoped it would make him laugh, despite him matching her seriousness with his own. She liked his laugh. Then, she really did feel her heart flutter in her chest as he inquired about the ball, though she was quick to keep herself composed and nonchalant. Finally entering the place where the chase had begun, she felt a pang of disappointment that after dining, their encounter may soon be over. "I might." She responded cheekily, looking up at him with a flirtatious smirk.

At least, this time around, Aric wasn't trying to hide that something wasn't right. But he was still worried about saying anything more. She was asking him about it, wishing for him to talk about it, and while he normally would have obliged...this was not a topic he wanted to bring up. Not if it would possibly draw her back into the dark with him. It was just a slight setback, that was all. He could handle it- he just needed a few moments.
"I just...know it probably hasn't been easy," he replied quietly. "Even if you seemed rather cozy with my cousins the other night." There it was, that slight smile. He was trying to ease the tension, even if a little. If those dark thoughts continued to linger for too long, he would tell her. It had taken Aric awhile to get to this place, to accept someone else again so close in his life like this...he wasn't about to mess it up. Still, for now, he would be quiet about it. Her smile made him smile, and that might be all he needed to get over this again. To not think about it.
As she took his face into her hands, the smile remained, evening widening a bit more as he gazed down at her. He would be alright. He was alright. Because she was okay right now. This was supposed to be a fun event, and tomorrow should be even better. He nodded at her request to head back before slinking an arm around her waist to pull her close to his side as they walked. "I'm alright. Really," he said softly, turning his head enough to look down at her. "There was...just a moment there where I lost myself. But I promise, I'm alright." For now. "Besides, it's the holiday. I need to prepare to woo you with gifts and some such." He chuckled. She wouldn't be getting her main gift until the day after tomorrow, and part of it was also for him. Something to help him remember who he was and where he came from...and how far he has come from that dark, devastated man.

Claire felt Stefan remove his hands and his words had her head jerking up, shaking it frantically. "N-no!" She blurted. Oh nooooooo, No Stefan! "It's not like that!" she said shaking her head more. Oh great now he was going to think he made her cry. On the contrary he just broke her. He'd caught her off guard. The last time she'd broke like this was when Alexandria had asked her to be one of her ladies. She was just... In disbelief, and clearly Claire had done something to ruin everything. That was just how it went.
"Oh but you did run earlier! You were running away with everyone else. I just...walked." She pointed out the logistics. Sure he might not have ran from her, which was- Her face turned redder, and she quickly tried to wipe at her face to keep the tears from falling, but they just. Kept. Leaking. She kept shaking her head, unable to stop now. Oh but she didn't, because she hadn't earned it. Or so her parents had always told her. Becoming Alexandria's lady in waiting had purely been a stroke of luck. Nothing more. Claire had been a wall flower, easily forgotten and never talked about. Her family constantly reminded her of that, and now that she was a Lady in waiting, she had to especially behave. Stefan was motioning for them to go, and her heart sank. No, she had to fix this! Some how! She didn't want Stefan to think he'd done anything wrong, and she found herself reaching out to tug lightly on his sleeve.
"You broke me! It's okay, You just-just, Oh sugar snaps." She whined, shielding her face as she made herself take a deep breath. She was embarrassed. So very embarrassed that's all that this was, and it had led to a misunderstanding. She groaned and then stomped her foot in frustration. "You caught me off guard. And it...I didn't know how to react." She made herself slow down, trying to explain the whirlwind of emotions that was happening. She made herself look up at him. "I've never..." She made a pouty look, and shifted her eyes, looking side to side. "Used tongue before." She admitted. That's what Cassie would say right? She had told her to use tongue! She looked down at her mittened hands and pressed her fingers together, before she looked up at him. Her face as red as a tomato. "I don't want my first kiss to be while playing a game." She mumbled. "You didn't upset me honest, they just-" She pointed up at her eyeballs. "They leak! uncontrollably! Because of strong emotions!" She hurried to explain. She sighed and then looked up at him concerned. "Please don't feel bad, I'm okay, just....really embarrassed. You were told things you weren't supposed to know because I can't keep my mouth shut." She admitted.
