She purposely ignored the way he questioned her, her name rolling off his tongue in a whisper. However, it didn’t stop the goosebumps that trailed down her body at the sound. She almost kind of loved it when he said her name.
His arm has snaked around her small frame almost as soon as she’d moved against him. But as he pulled her hips against his, groaning into their kiss, she felt herself melt against him. Her heart no longer raced in fear and anxiousness. No, now her heart pounded with anticipation and the excitement that stirred within her, causing a fever to spread throughout her entire body. She was convinced that if the man before her was anyone else but Nathaniel, things would never have moved so far so quickly. She still couldn’t place what it was about him that made all of this feel so… right.
He was pulling her further into him then, turning her away from the door and moving her backwards slowly, helping guide her footfalls as he did so, causing her to chuckle lightly against their kiss. She wasn’t entirely sure why she found the motion amusing. Perhaps it was the fact that she felt off balance like a newborn deer. Maybe it was the last bit of her nervousness being cast out of her body as slow realization began to sink in.
When his hand found her hip, removing the dagger clipped to her belt, she’d nearly grabbed his wrist out of instinct, but stopped herself as her hands tensed against his body. Their lips were parting as he smirked and spoke and despite how much her training was taking over in that moment, she did her best to shove it down. She replaced her sudden tension with a smirk of her own as she shrugged. “Just in case.” She repeated with an affirmative nod. “I am always armed.” Another shrug caused her shoulders to rise and fall slightly. “I suppose I only hope that you do not think I carried it because I was coming here to see you under.. Such circumstances.” She chose her words as carefully as she could. She’d been armed at the ball too, her dagger strapped to her thigh. The same had gone for the chase and he - nor anyone else - had been any the wiser. Typically, she’d be carrying more than one blade, but leaving her room at the palace in such a rush, it hadn’t occurred to her to grab the others. Nor had it seemed necessary. She made a mental note of where her dagger now rested, silently setting a reminder for herself to grab it before leaving.
His hand returned to her waist then, slowly pulling up the bottom of her shirt so that it was no longer tucked. When his hands moved to touch her bare skin, however, she felt jolts of lightning travel down to each limb, setting her entire body ablaze in a mere instant. As he stared at her, he seemed hesitant, causing Alice to tilt her head at him. His thumb moving gently along her skin made her feel like she was on fire beneath his fingertips. She wondered, for a split second, if he knew he had that effect on her.
The kiss he placed to her shoulder caused her to tremble slightly, brown eyes closing against the sensation as chills raced down her body. Gently, his kiss moved to her neck as he made his way to her lips where he kissed her deeply. She returned his kiss as his other hand began to trail up her body, eliciting a sharp gasp to escape her. Her hands only left his body when her arms moved upwards to assist him in removing her shirt, but she immediately felt too exposed for her liking, the nervousness that dissipated coming back with a renewed vigor. She swallowed against her sudden fear as he looked her over. It had been quite some time since anyone had seen her half naked, and to be truthful, she’d always struggled with it in some ways. But the expression on his face brought her some ease.
The feeling of her bare chest against his body as he pulled her into him, pressing his hands against her back and burying his face into her skin brought forth a sensation that she wasn’t familiar with. She suddenly felt like she could stay right here forever, despite the anxiety that dared to creep to the forefront of her mind again. He whispered against her skin and she felt her heart sink in her chest, giving him a curious look as he pulled away to look at her, that saddened look in his own eyes. Bringing her hand from his torso, she caressed his face lightly just as his own hand found her cheek. Those next words brought a smirk to her face and a ‘hm’ sound escaped her in the form of a single laugh. She was nodding her head at him, agreeing that she would definitely argue with him on the matter. She still thought he deserved the world and she wanted to one day show him that, perhaps even be the one to give it to him. In due time, it would happen, she was certain of it. But for now, she just wanted to be lost in these small moments with him.
A soft kiss was placed against her lips before final words escaped him and she again tilted her head at him. “I will resist the urge to argue with you on your earlier statement,” She half-joked with a soft chuckle, shaking her head slightly before returning her gaze to him. “But given the way I currently stand before you, I am curious as to what you think I deserve…” The words trailed off, perhaps insinuating that she wanted whatever it was he thought she deserved in that moment. Of course, despite the nervousness and anxiety finding its way back to her, she was still more than consumed with desire for him. Maybe that was evident in the way her hands had slowly made their way beneath the fabric of his own shirt as she stood taller to kiss him quickly, but somehow impossibly softly as her lips repeatedly met his with the same longing she’d felt nearly this entire night.
She could feel his muscles beneath her skin and she wondered what his body looked like under the fabric of his clothing. Still, she was daring not to push him too far. Though, perhaps it was only fair that he was shirtless too.. The thought nearly made her chuckle as she smiled against his lips slightly, on hand finding the waistband of his pants where she paused, breathing slowly, though shallowly as she pulled away to give him a questioning look, as if confirming that he was okay with what she was doing. Returning her kiss to him, both hands moved much as his had, gathering the end of his shirt as she pulled it upwards, breaking their kiss for just long enough to attempt to remove the single article of clothing.

Nathaniel could almost sense Alice’s nervousness. Or maybe it was his own that he may have been projecting onto her- he wasn’t quite certain. He felt her tense up as he took her dagger and he gave her a reassuring look as if telling her she was alright and safe- he would never hurt her and she didn’t need the dagger to defend herself against him. He smiled softly as she affirmed his question, almost as if she had read his mind, assuring him that she hadn’t carried it because she was coming to see him. He had briefly wondered if that had been why, especially given the nature and reason for her visit. His shoulders lifted in the slightest shrug and he spoke in a low voice that quietly vibrated in his chest, “I would not have blamed you if you had.” He gave her a half-smile then, “I’m glad to hear you are always armed, though. Just in case.” His tone was serious, and he did not laugh, knowing that other men in Tresteria may have frowned upon a woman arming herself or laughed and joked that they wouldn’t be able to use it if they needed to. Something told Nathaniel that Alice could handle herself if it came down to needing to.
Alice hadn’t stopped his hands as they dared to touch her and he carefully removed her shirt, and the reality of the situation was causing his heart to pound in his chest. Perhaps that had been why he once again, tried to push her away- even if he remedied the situation by dismissing himself for his own statement, knowing very well that Alice might have returned his previous sentiments that he did deserve this. Just as she did, too. His brown eyes stared back at her as they stood there in the brief silence. Alice was caressing his face which caused him to smile softly, especially as she spoke, claiming she would resist the urge to argue with him. He exhaled a small laugh out his nose and nodded in such a way that should have been followed with a ‘thank you.’
“But given the way I currently stand before you, I am curious as to what you think I deserve…” He swallowed nervously, then, unsure of how to say exactly what he meant. So for a moment, he just stared at her, allowing his imagination to run rampant. It may have seemed that he had no intention of answering her question- and maybe he didn’t. Her hands, as they slowly moved beneath his shirt, broke his thoughts, and brought him back to reality, his muscles instantly tensing up at the sensation of her fingers on his skin. But her kisses--regardless of how soft they were, slowly dragged him back to her and he relaxed underneath her hands.
Still, he couldn’t shake his nervousness, and his breath escaped him in deep, heavy exhales out his nose as he continuously kissed her. Her fingers were slowly starting to explore him, finding his waistband which again, pulled him back to reality causing him to tense and nearly flinch, but he willed himself not to show too much of his fear. He wondered, though, if she had been able to sense it because she was pulling away from him and giving him a questioning look that he didn’t know how to respond to. So instead of saying anything, he returned her kiss, maybe indicating that he was alright with what she was doing, even though he was unsure and nervous about it. He wondered if Alice had any idea how inexperienced he was with all of this. He wondered how experienced she was with this, too, though he imagined if this had been her first time, it wouldn’t be happening with him right now.
He felt her move to take his shirt off and almost instinctively, he quickly reached down and lightly grasped hold of her wrists as if to stop her and he broke apart from their kiss just as she had. He was breathing in a quickened and shallow fashion before he suddenly realized what he was doing and slowly loosened his grip on her wrists. “Forgive me--” He whispered quietly and swallowed hard, trying to steady himself as he stared at her. Nathaniel hesitated for a moment before he spoke again, “I--” What could he really say? Was his hesitation making it obvious that he had been through something traumatic? That maybe Audra was right about him, that something was wrong with him? He sighed quietly and shook his head. It was dark, maybe she wouldn’t see them all. He raised his arms and helped her remove his shirt, without saying anything else. He pulled her against him before she’d have a chance to look at him, their bare skin touching. Nathaniel kissed her deeply, running his fingers against her back as he moved her again towards his bed, breaking their kiss as he urged her to sit on the edge of it.
He leaned down and lifted one of her feet to rest on his thigh as he unlaced her boot and pulled it off before moving to the other to do the same. As he did so, he finally acknowledged her question from earlier. “I’d rather show you than tell you…” Brown eyes looked at her then and searched hers for any sort of reaction. “...If that’s alright.” He waited a moment, studying her before he moved to stand directly in front of her, between her legs. Carefully, he urged one of her legs to wrap around his waist and he lifted her to move her completely on the bed, laying her down and pulling himself to hover over her, not daring to lay on top of her just yet. He looked down into her eyes, ensuring that she was alright with this- with him being over her the way that he was.
