Xahrina was making this increasingly difficult, but he wasn't about to say so. At least, not more than what he's already shared. She was tempting him in more ways than one, and for once in his life, the wolf was trying to reel himself in. Do what was right, or should be right, at least. However, how was he supposed to do that with this gorgeous woman practically draping herself all over him, blatantly inviting him to stay (whatever that exactly entailed)?
The thought had, indeed, entered his mind, and the strange thing was...he'd lay next to her and simply watch her all night. He'd just stay there and speak with her about whatever she wanted to know, if that was all she wanted. And Lycus normally didn't care for such things.
'I will leave it to you then because I do want you to stay but only if you can.' Oh, the temptation. He was losing that battle within himself.
Although she smiled, Lycus couldn't match it. The concern was still there and it wasn't about to go away. "It's still a risk," he told her gently. "But I will make it safe." He would make it right. When the time came, she would be arriving in his land, not his father's.
He tilted his head down to bury his face within the curve of her neck again, unaware that they were beginning to arrive back to the homestead.

Xahrina was leaning into him, taking this time to just enjoy this man but she also knew that other tribes were touchy about their people being gone for any sort of reason; her own included. She would inhale and sigh softly as the horse rocked their bodies while they traveled back to her home.
She laid out the offer to him, she would open her home to him if he chose to stay and then her room to him if he chose that route. Though, if he chose to leave still, she would send him off with supplies and the list they had made up earlier.
"I trust that you won't let your people kill me but I am a warrior still...I can hold my own if I must until things are settled," she told him confidently. She was more than just a kind woman, she was dangerous and quietly deadly. The village knew this and knew that even though she was calm and collected, she was not a woman to cross.
Her hand moved to the side of his face, her own head leaning into him as she would give a small tug to her horses mane to stop him from going forward to be seen. She didn't want to go back yet.
"You still did not answer my question," she whispered softly, a light tease in her voice as her fingers continued to rub the side of his face while she just stayed here with him in silence and peace for a few more moments.

The more time he spent here with her, the stranger it felt. Not in a bad way, but in the sensation that it was completely normal and that he had done this for years already. It was that feeling he couldn't ignore even if he wanted to. It was a calmness he couldn't explain, a comfort he never once had before. This wasn't supposed to happen, and yet...there they were.
After not even an hour, he'd proposed engagement to join their clans together. After he was prepared to backstab almost everyone else he'd made promises to, he sat there with the Oisen Chieftess with no thoughts of betraying her.
He wasn't himself, but he wasn't sure if that was necessarily a bad thing or not.
At the mention of her being skilled in combat, his curiosity rose. It wasn't that Lycus thought she couldn't protect herself, but now he wanted to see it, to witness it. And all that did was make her even more impossible to step away from. He should have known by the way she held herself, the way she handled a lone wolf setting foot onto her lands. Oh, it was far more thrilling than it should've been.
Suddenly, she was halting the horse, and his brow furrowed in soft bewilderment. 'You still did not answer my question.' "And what question was that?" he murmured. To stay? Xahrina had ultimately left it up to him, and his often jumbled mind was continuously warring with itself. He had a little bit of time, he knew, but there were other risks with staying. Maybe it wasn't a good idea.
Or maybe he really didn't care what was best or not anymore.
Unraveling an arm from about her waist, his hand rose to seize hers at his face; gently grasping it within his fingers before he was pressing a gentle kiss to the inside of her wrist. She'd be able to feel his sigh against her skin before he moved his attention to her neck again, to that curve which he currently claimed as his favorite spot. His breath was hot when he spoke, his voice deep, "I want...to stay." Perhaps she expected him to explain why he couldn't, to give some sort of reason, but none came, just his simple answer.

Xahrina was quiet, the afternoon on her mind as well and all that had been happening and going on. She never expected it, never planned it, nor was she opposed to it either. She liked this man, he brought out a fire inside her that was normally calm but he stoked it without knowing it.
What had happened today? Why him? From another clan of all people. She had her choice of men here in Oisen, so why a wolf of all people? That was going to be a mystery to her for as long as she would live.
Her touch would continue to roam along his arm, her head leaning back as she would smile some at seeing the look on his face when she mentioned that she was a fighter. She was a Chief, of course she could fight and hold her own with her own ease and skill- ask anyone here in the clan and some would whisper their own fear of her for what she would do to those who broke the laws around here.
“You know what question that was, Lycus,” she told him softly, her face rubbing against his gently. She wanted an answer, she wanted him to say yes so badly but she refused to let him see that aching desire that she was feeling.
The touch to her face had her looking to him, her eyes closing a little as she let out the softest breath from the feel of his lips on her skin. He made her rock against him a bit- especially when he brushed his lips against her neck, “Then stay…you will have a warm place to sleep in my room then. Safe where I can continue to learn about you and you I,” she purred out to him, her fingers lifting up to touch the side of his face. This was insane, totally insane but yet she did not feel an ounce of regret at this offer to him.

None of this was supposed to happen. He had expected to meet with some old man (perhaps a bit misogynistic thinking on his part), strike up a deal, and already be on his way back home, to his own territory. Instead, things had gone in an entirely different direction, and he had been unable to stop it. Maybe he hadn't wanted to after he realized who this woman was, what she was proving to be. And he was liking it a little too much.
Xahrina was testing him already and he didn't care. She was swiftly wrapping him around her finger and he didn't care. She hadn't flinched away from him, she had second guessed him and challenged him after only a few moments of talking. The Chieftess did not hesitate to put someone in their place, and he wanted that by his side.
Yes, he already wanted her by his side permanently.
'You know what question that was, Lycus.' It was difficult not to let that sly grin curl his mouth. Yes, he had known, but even he didn't want to outright assume anything. And since when? He always took charge and assumed everything if he felt like it. Xahrina was saying more after he replied, but he was becoming a little too distracted by the way she lightly moved against him, and there came an airy growl deep within his throat.
If this was somehow all a plan to catch him off guard and slit his throat in the middle of the night, he didn't mind. She could do whatever she wanted.
That grin widened a little more, his lips near her ear when he replied in light jest, "And to hide me away from the rest of your kin, no doubt?" Well, not that he minded at all. If it wasn't evident enough, he was very alright with being alone with her. Lycus didn't exactly expect an answer as he spoke again, his voice dropping low. "Whatever my Chieftess commands."

Today had gone in the strangest way possible, in so many ways she hadn’t expected to feel herself drawn to a man from a different clan. It was strange and unheard of but could be dangerous as well. Yet a part of her held no care for that because she had never met a man she would risk her life for until now. She knew that she would risk it all to see him again after he left; including her life and that spoke volumes to her.
A small fear crept up in the back of her mind if he left her, could she go to war with them over her own anger or would she bow away respectfully if he chose a path that did not include her now? Those thoughts were startling and strange, ones she had no idea how to deal with just yet but she’d figure it out somehow.
That grin on his face though wiped away the brief worries that had crept up into her mind. He wasn’t playing her, she’d have know that he was playing her for a fool. No, he wasn’t doing that to her and she just smiled at him more now as he growled in response.
That was something he couldn’t fake from her own light prodding of him. She smiled at him as her head leaned in to nuzzle against him a bit.
A wicked grin rose to her lips at his suggestion that she was hiding him away from her kin, “Mm not hiding…making sure that my guest is safe and well cared for while also keeping their minds at ease…a wolf among any herd can cause anyone to spook for the silliest of reasons,” she told him with a little smile as she would urge her horse on.
“You’ll be comfortable, I promise,” she told him as she nuzzled into him again as she lead him close to the clan before stopping now. She would turn to look at him from her place in front of him and with little warning, she’d slide right on down off of the massive beast and stretch. A soft groan leaving her at being on her own two feet again.

If Lycus didn't handle his father in a timely manner, it was likely that there would be trouble between the Wynfrinds and other clans. Whereas some of them he couldn't care less for, he was quite clearly growing a soft spot for the Oisen...or at least their leader.
Now that he knew she existed, there was no possible way he could forget her. He wanted to see this sudden lie of his come to fruition, and right now he wasn't afraid of the consequences. Lycus didn't appear to be afraid of much at the moment, and that was probably a very dangerous thing.
And this woman was also dangerous. There hadn't been many who could catch the wolf's attention so quickly and attentively. She did not truly know him enough to understand that this was unusual for him. Lycus didn't simply hold a woman like this, didn't flirt and tease before preparing to leave. If a woman held his attention for more than a few seconds, it was because he had plans to drag her to his bed without the few hours of courtship like this. But Xahrina? He held her, spoke with her, and had been willing to leave without that expectation. That spoke volumes to anyone who truly knew him.
He was intrigued by this woman, there was no doubt about it.
"With you to protect me, Chieftess, I'm sure I'll be very safe and comfortable." Lycus was grinning slyly now as he watched her dismount. Swinging his leg over, he would do the same to land back on the ground beside her. It almost felt strange to be down to that height, but it also felt good to have the earth beneath him once again.

Xahrina didn’t know what was in store for the wolves, the waves that were to be created because of Lycus and what he was going to cause because of her. The Oisen as well were going to be rocked because she was going to start letting others know about the possibility of working with another clan and that if Lycus was seen, he was to be brought to her.
It was scary how fast she was falling for this man. Why were her emotions doing this to her? Were the spirits so intent on them intertwining that they made their first meeting together so intense that they would need to find each other again.
By the time he left, he would be leaving with a part of her and she knew this deep in her soul.
On the ground, she would pat the horses neck and kiss it before he turned and trotted off to head to the herd to watch over them as he always had done. She would look up to Lycus now, their difference in heights obvious but no nevermind to her as she would lead him back to her lodging. It was already buzzing with people preparing for evening and supper, so when she lead him inside again, she would head to her room with him to pull out extra furs.
“I know I will sleep safe tonight…they say wolves are some of the best protection- is that true?” she asked, her tone curious but also a bit playful as she directed this question to him.

Whatever gods or spirits the two clans believed in, they must have had a plan. This didn't just happen every day in Aldsage.
As stated before, this was very unusual for the Wynfrid. Whereas he came here with every intention to make a deal, this hadn't been the deal he planned on. And now that he made it, he didn't want to undo it and would do whatever it took to see it come to fruition. On top of the other darkness he was about to spread...
As Xahrina led him back to her lodging, those icy blues were constantly looking around at the Oisen homestead. Despite being with their Chieftess and her assurance that he would be safe just by her word, Lycus was naturally still a little on edge. It was likely he wouldn't sleep completely comfortably tonight- at least mentally. He was a wolf outside of his pack, and that immediately wasn't safe.
When they entered her home, however, and she inquired about wolves, his eased a little more. A slight grin curled the corner of his mouth as he idly glanced around again, noting more details about the room than he had before.
"We protect our own and what is ours with our lives," he told her. "We aren't often away from the pack, though..." Lycus' voice had dropped a little to a near whisper. He didn't entirely seem out of sorts, but just those words alone might be hint enough for her to understand he was a little uneasy. He wasn't afraid, no, but staying over in enemy lands wasn't exactly ideal. Just because their Chieftess accepted him, didn't mean the entire clan would right now. He had to tread carefully.

Whatever was happening between the pair of them, it felt right. Two flames born of different lands meeting and then feeding each others fire. To aid it’s growth and warmth to spread across the lands perhaps. No matter how it played out, it was going to leave a deep and lasting impression.
Once in the safety of her home, well for her at least, he probably felt out of sorts here in her home.
She would go to the fireplace, the mantle decorated in war horses and fighting but also peaceful scenes carved into the wood. She stoked the fire while he told her how he was feeling and she gave a small nod.
Xahrina would sit on a bear pelt that was on the floor, her hand patting a spot close to her as she lifted a leg to lazily wrap her arm around her leg as he spoke of his unease. Well, spoke as much as he did about it, it was implied and she understood. Leaning to the side, since he came here unarmed, she pulled out a knife and held it out to him by the hilt. “For you. Since being away from home is never easy and I want you to feel safe enough to rest here tonight.” This did make her a little uneasy. She was arming him in her own room and trusting that he wasn’t going to slit her throat as she slept.
Xahrina still kept her calm, her trust that had been built with him so far. Her gut did not warn her that he might try to but her clan might not like the outright trust she was giving right now. "May I know more about you and your family?"

Perhaps he was being a fool. Lycus was certainly the type to be impulsive and try things without truly thinking them through. This, right now, could arguably be one of those times, because to every other Wynfrid, he would appear to have lost his mind.
Well, maybe he had.
He was slow to join her there in front of the fire, but inevitably did so as fingers idly brushed across the pelt; recalling the time he and his sister brought down a bear that was nearly twice the size of this one. The memory almost made him smile, but his face remained absent of any mirth.
Then, he was suddenly staring down at the knife she procured, holding it between them. 'For you,' she said, offering him something to try and ease his concerns. Those bright eyes flickered up to her face in question, as if he wondered whether or not this was a trick. She really should not be so trusting, even if he knew deep down that he would not harm her. There was no need to.
Lycus didn't say anything in reply, but did slowly reach over to take the blade between his fingers, examining it in his silence before she was asking her question. There was hesitation on his part once more, but eventually, his lips parted to speak.
"I have a sister, as strong and smart as you-" he began, tilting his head as he idly continued to study the knife that he gently twirled between his fingers. It was a compliment, really, even if his tone lacked a bit of emotion. "And then my father, well-" A corner of his mouth curled up, but it was not in a pleasant smile. It was more an angered grimace that quickly dissipated. "He's...difficult, let's say."
Blues rose to the Oisen's face. Maybe he could have told her more, about Ookami's harshness, the way he pushed his children, the way he expected more from Lycus no matter how hard he tried...but at that moment, he recalled that his father was the reason he was here. Not actually, but it was the lie he had to stick with for now.
"Seeing your home and clan, I'd hope you have better things to say of your own family." Maybe he should have been embarrassed, but he didn't appear to be.
