Xahrina strived to be the best leader for her people, so much so that she didn't think of herself. She hadn't been raised harshly, her parents had cared deeply for her and nurtured the strong woman she was today thanks to them but she was feeling the weight of it all and sometimes even she wanted an escape of some sort to be able to just breathe and not worry.
Turning as she did, she couldn't help the grin that was plastered on her lips. She was comfortable on the back of a horse and knew how to move to keep from falling off and he just learned she could do it while kissing- honestly that was a first for her but she would keep that to herself for the moment. Her body would settle in close to his, her hand on his cheek and the other against his chest.
The Chieftess trusted her horse, knew the beast didn't care what was happening and was mostly still and grazing at this point with them. Gently, she let her touch drift up to his hairline and then back down as she finally felt that grin of his against her lips too. Now they were both smiling at the move she made. He would hear no protest though from her as she too would wrap an arm around him and maybe under his shirt for better grip- yep just for better grip.
"This gift...is one I kept secret...so far there is one man that has earned my attention and actually made me want to make sure that he will come back- and if that means I am to tease him with a taste of what could be his...then I will," she told him softly, her eyes closing a little as her head tilted back some for him. It showed the trust she was giving him, letting him near one of the most vulnerable parts of her body but she was working on trust with him- though he had it from her already.
Xahrina let herself just relax, her fingers moving along his lower back before dragging her nails lightly. It was tempting to just tell him to stay but he needed to go back and tell his father that things had gone better than they hoped but until then, she was going to selfishly keep him to herself at the moment.

He shouldn't be here. He shouldn't want this. He shouldn't be allowing this woman to believe he had come here on some diplomatic mission from his father. Although his intent was still peace with the Oisen, it was going to be tainted by blood and deceit on his own home front. Lycus didn't know how that would change things...but she was making it incredibly difficult to think clearly. Even more so as he held her against him, his hand curling into the fabric of her shirt so that it didn't travel down lower.
His skin felt on fire though, with her wandering touch beneath his shirt, and he was suddenly fighting his own body for control. He just met this woman, was somehow possibly betrothed to her, and was now about ready to throw them both to the ground and see just how much more brazen she could be.
But no, control. Lycus knew he had it somewhere.
"You shouldn't tease a wolf..." Those words were nearly growled against her skin as lips trailed to her throat, urging her to tilt her head back even further. There came a gentle hiss of breath at the sensation of her nails, not because it hurt but because he was losing even more of his resolve.
He'd finally draw back so that he could look at her, nuzzling the side of her face softly. "You...truly wish for me to return?" For the moment, Lycus didn't realize he had stopped breathing.

Xahrina had no reason to doubt him or his intentions, so letting herself just take what he was saying as it was, was easy for her. She wanted peace with some clans and others she wanted gone and shrunk for all the destruction they caused their own island. She felt so strange, just wanting to take on the chaos that was inside him to bring him to her own peaceful little island that she was willing to let him in on to change. His grip on her shirt would just bring a little smile to her face as she nuzzled against him a little bit.
She had no issues right now, he had told her she should be selfish sometimes and take what she wanted and right now she wanted to rile up this wolf and see how far she could push before even her own calm push on him wasn't enough- though she was barely trying to keep him calm since she kissed him.
"Why?" she asked, her tone full of mischief as her eyes closed while her head just dipped back, her nails dragging along his skin as her touch would slide up a little further on his back. Her nails and finger tips would graze up his spine slowly, mixing between light and a little surprising bite of her nails.
Xahrina tilted her head against his some, nuzzling back, "Yes, I want you to come back," she told him, her heart thudding. She felt wild and wholly unorthodox right now. They did just meet but yet she was willing to wait until he returned or she might just get fed up with waiting and go to him. Why she felt drawn to him though, she wasn't sure. Maybe it was his chaos that called to her and she craved it, "I want you back, Lycus and I will wait until you come back," she told him again, not even hiding the need in her one. nor the promise as she spoke. Her fingers gripping his back as she almost pulled herself closer to him.

Lycus shouldn't want it, shouldn't want this, but he was taking it anyway, despite the voice in his head warning him to slow down. Although he had a plan, he didn't really know if it would work. For all he knew, Ookami would kill him instead for his insolence and Xahrina may never know what happened.
Yet, maybe that was why he was living in the moment, right now, and not letting those "what ifs" weigh him down. Normally they never did, so this lovely, present situation shouldn't be any different. However, she was beginning to test his patience and his resolve, taunting him because she knew very well what she was doing. What this kiss, this position, what her nails and fingers across the skin of his back were doing to him. 'Why?' she had asked. It wasn't really a question that needed to be answered, quite obviously, but he was going to answer it anyway. Xahrina was leaning her head back, further exposing that beautiful neck...and she'd feel the sharp sensation of his teeth right where her neck met her shoulder.
Oh yes, he had marked her.
"My...gentlemanly manners only go so far, chieftess. Do not push me." It was strange how that desire in his tone was so easily mixed in with what was a true warning to her. He was trying very hard to behave himself, but a man had his limits. Yet the mood changed, just subtly for him. His face resting against hers, those vivid blues staring into her dark ones gave him pause when she spoke again. A hand was moving on its own accord to rest against her cheek as he drew back just a little bit.
It was a few moments before he spoke again, his voice surprisingly quiet, perhaps even gentle. And that was a rarity coming from him. "Then...I will come back," he told her. Fingers curled into her hair again, cupping the back of her head before he drew her back in for a kiss- one that was far softer yet somehow still as drugging as the last.

What would her people say? What would her sister think or even her own personal guard think? Yet right now the thoughts melted away with him. Why couldn't she go after something- or someone- that was making her want to feel this, to want to experience more and actually test her resolve on things. How did this happen though, so quickly in the span of the time they met and spoke and now she was all but fawning in his lap because she wanted him and wanted this alliance to work. Maybe with their chemistry at work like this, it would work out better than either clan expected.
The what ifs were slipping from her mind, the worry, the stress. It was leaving her as she just felt the moment, this private moment out in the fields that she was gladly sharing with him. Xahrina knew very well what she was doing but that did not stop her from enjoying letting out that teasing question to him just to see what response she might get and she didn't regret it.
When he bit her, marking her neck like that, it made her inhale sharply as her nails dug in while pulling him right up against her a little more. It was a reaction and one that made her want to return that favor right away.
A smile tugged at her lips, her eyes dropping down to stare into the blue depths, "If I was truly pushing in the way I...have been thinking on since you nuzzled my neck, I doubt either of us would have manners after," she told him, not even hiding what she was doing. And even as she spoke, she felt the shift, her dark eyes alight and warm as she felt his hand move to cup her cheep and her own hand would move to cover it. She wanted to keep his touch, she wanted to just stay like this and pretend for a bit longer that he wouldn't have to leave soon with the answer she gave.
Xahrina felt a wave wash over her, the promise in his tone and the smile rising to her lips as she would lean right into his kiss. Her hands moved to grip his back and hold onto him as she kissed him gently, taking her time as he did so that he would know and feel it in his bones that she wanted him to return come hell or high waters.

Lycus was chancing a lot on this. He was letting it get way too far but couldn't seem to stop himself, although he hadn't exactly tried very hard. In all honesty, who would want to with this beautiful woman literally draped all over him? It was a sudden addiction he didn't know he craved, it was this intoxication he hadn't realized he needed so desperately. He hadn't felt this ounce of dread or rage from the moment he set eyes upon her, and it was invigorating.
It helped him feel human.
One might think she was a witch and had woven some spell, but he couldn't care less about it. Whatever she had done, she had hooked him far easier than anyone had ever been able to do before. It should have frightened him, yet he wasn't running away now. Lycus was keeping things from her, but he was no longer lying. And if he could, he might have told this woman everything right then and there.
'...I doubt either of us would have manners after.' And then there was that. The difficulty in trying to maintain some sort of composure was swiftly increasing, and she just kept on teasing him. Still, he meant those words, he meant that one moment of sincerity and calmness. Lycus hadn't thought about it, letting the words just spill forth without concern before he was tasting her mouth again, as if he had done it a hundred times before. As though they didn't just meet this very same day. His one hand was filtering into the hair at the base of her head as his other trailed down along her spine before curling fingers into her hip.
The last thing he wanted to do was break away from her, but he drew from that kiss again in slight annoyance at himself; his face still lingering close to hers. "Although, surprisingly...it is the last thing I want to do...I do have to think about getting back." Originally, there hadn't been a rush, but the plan had suddenly changed on him and he might need time to figure out how to make it work.
Ookami would never agree to this union. And that was a major problem because Lycus wanted it.

Xahrina had a lot riding on this, on him, and this deal that they were making but yet also the fact that she was so easily giving herself to him. No one else had ever earned this much of her, she was their leader and it made it harder for them to see her as anything else at times. Silently she prayed this would work because she felt something for this man, it was there in his blue eyes that she wanted to see all the time, to come home to. It was a shaking feeling.
She let her eyes drift close, just to imprint his touch to memory but also his scent and feel of him. She wanted to be that chief who demanded he stay put so she could learn about him more but deep down she knew their time was brief but next it would not be; she'd make sure of it.
The woman kissed him, her fingers under the back of his shirt as she let her strong legs just hold onto his as her body moved along with his fingers, her head tilting back and then dipping forward again to snag his lips once more. This didn't feel like a first meeting of two very different people, no hesitation between either of them as they let their touches drift around until he was stopping.
The softest groan left her when he stopped, her head moving to lean into his, "Please don't think ill of me for this...but I am sorely tempted to order you to stay put for a night of interrogation of your intents," she told him, her tone was wholly playful though as she gave a nod to him though in understanding why he needed to go back. She would slip her hand to his cheek, her thumb rubbing along his lower lip as she kissed him again, wanting just one more kiss before she had to turn them around and go back.
Xahrina would linger with the kiss, selfish sure but she didn't care. Pulling away, she reached to her hair and undid a silver clasp that decorated it and with a little smile reached up to clip it into his hair, not even letting him see what was on it (it was runes), "Now we may return...as much as I'd rather linger here with you," she told him as she reluctantly slid back and moved her leg in front of him so that she was sitting sideways on the horse and then swinging her leg back over. Gently she patted his neck, "Home." she told the animal who snorted and turned to start head back easily while Xahrina moved to press herself right back against him.

Lycus didn't know if this was possible. He didn't know what would happen when some of the truth came out. A part of him actually feared his own clan for the harsh idea that he had to go through with. What if they sided more with his father, what if he was reaching too high and unable to realize it? Lycus should at least be telling Aspen but he couldn't bring himself to...and now, he might be dragging Xahrina into this mess if he wasn't careful.
That thought strangely made him want to stay, to delay whatever awaited him at home just a little bit longer. It was like his mind was being torn in two- his desire warring with the logical part, knowing he shouldn't get further attached just in case. Maybe it was why he wasn't getting greedy right now when he so easily could. For once, he wasn't thinking solely about himself and his kin, and it was...strange.
Regardless, if she continued to kiss him, he wasn't going to argue. Lycus had interrupted for a moment to utter words he didn't really want to, maybe it was just out of courtesy, but Xahrina was just making it all very difficult, somehow even more than before. Her groaning protest, her words that followed made him clench his jaws in order to control himself. "I suppose...you do outrank me," he mused, his response bringing the small grin to his face. "For now." When Ookami died, Lycus would become Alpha, would be chieftain...and it might be sooner than anyone believed.
His arms wrapped around her tightly as she kissed him, and perhaps now she was delaying things a little. It seemed to amuse him, and his lips smiled slightly against hers before the Oisen broke their mouths apart and was reaching for the silver clasp. Lycus watched her face more than her hands, but he saw a little of the clasp in his peripheral before she was putting it into his own hair. He found slight humor in this as well so his sly grin grew a little more into a wider, crooked smile.
"What was that for?" he questioned her quietly after she spun back around, holding her against him. "Something to remember you by?" He was lowering his face into the curve of her neck again, breathing out a heavy sigh.

Xahrina had no reason yet to doubt him, she always banked on truth and went with it and then watched to learn how a person was and if they earned her growing trust or to lose it. She wanted to trust him, her gut so far was not screaming out a warning that he was false. It was a mix of sensations going through her and her instincts telling her this was ok.
The fact that he let her kiss him again just had her smiling against his lips while her fingers gently touched his face and along his jawline. Pulling away and hearing his protest made her grin and then raise a brow, "Oh I do...it's fun to be the leader for that perk," she told him as she grinned a lot more as she leaned into him, "So what your saying is...until you become chief I could...in theory, tell you to stay put for a bit longer- just to check your motive," she told him, a wicked glint in her eyes but it was all playfulness. She was not like this normally, calmer and reserved but heavens above he had her tapping into that passionate side without hesitation and she was loving it.
Oh she was delaying things, she liked how this felt, how she could just relax and breathe for a time with him and not be working or worried or planning something. She liked how this all felt and was irked that he did have to leave as much as she wanted him to stay. The small token she gave him was a soft sign of her growing affection for him, not easily spotted but yet it was there if he left it.
Covering his arms with her own, she leaned her head into his, "Yes...because as much as I want to be selfish and demand you stay longer, I know I shouldn't due to the nature of why you came," she told him, not even hiding the slight sadness in her tone as she pressed her head against his, her face turned so she could inhale the wolfs scent a bit more. Xahrina felt like there were precautions set up if he didn't arrive back in X number of days and she didn't want her people to come under attack should she keep him a day longer than she should. "Also, it bares my mark, should an Oisen stop you again you can show them and they will allow you to pass." she told him. This was her way of giving him a safe passage between their lands because if he was going to be going back and forth, he would need it.

Would she have known he was vile, that his hands were tainted with unnecessary blood if he came here after he had..."taken care of things" back home? Would they be seated on the back of this horse in such an intimate way, as if they had known each other for years? Lycus didn't think so, and it was difficult to discern whether this sudden union would be ruined by his betrayal. Not a betrayal towards her- oh no, his words to her were true (except the part about Ookami sending him). He meant everything else said to her. The wolf only lied when he had to, because otherwise, he was very blunt and too the point. It didn't matter if feelings were hurt.
'So, what you're saying is...until you become chief, I could...in theory, tell you to stay put for a bit longer- just to check your motive.' Oh, he shouldn't have smiled at that, but he did. It was a wry, devious kind of smirk that he didn't bother to try and hide. "In theory," he said lowly, pretending to think about it. "Yes." And he shouldn't want her to try, yet a small part of him did. It was that craving he suddenly had for her that he knew he had to step away from before it was too late.
Lycus drew in a slow, heavy sigh and let it out just as slowly. Those bright eyes closed as she leaned her head against his, and he simply concentrated on her voice. His clan thought he was at the hunting camp. No one knew he was here nor when to expect him back. Sometimes it was only a few days that he stayed away, sometimes it was weeks. It all depended upon his mood. So, in reality, he had some leeway. He could stay, even just a day longer...but he was too afraid to voice it. He was too afraid of wanting this far too much, only to have it pulled away from him somehow.
Blues opened to regard her in some mild surprise when she explained the hairpiece. "You...would trust me with that already?" That did something to him, it made him feel something he didn't quite understand yet.

Xahrina was willing to trust him, blood and all but she knew deep down that if he was to hurt her, betray her or her people, she would end him. It was a sobering thought that she was giving a man this power over her right now but she was tentatively sliding it over to him and seeing what he would do with what she was gifting to him. Now though, the ball was in his court and he needed to show what his word was to her as she had shown to him.
His smile was not missed, the devious smirk that had her just ever so slightly biting at the corner of her lip some, "Only in theory, should I test it? Take you back to my room and interrogate you fully?" she asked, giving him the most innocent look she could muster but her eyes held a playful mischief there that was bubbling just under the surface. Oh how she wanted to do that, to bring him back to her room. Heavens be damned about irritating another tribe for keeping their prince(in essence).
The Chieftess just let herself lean into him, breathing him in and just simply feeling him for the moment. Why was she like this? A man from another clan, a wolf, yet something in his eyes and how he carried himself set off something inside her. She wanted to pull rank and be selfish- hell he encouraged her to be selfish with him at least and she wanted it. Xahrina had to remind herself to be patient, he would be back, she would see him again soon. Her hand lifted again, cupping the side of his face gently to stroke the side of his face silently for a moment. Soon they would be back and she would have to be a Chieftess again, until then though, she was enjoying this.
"Yes, I want you back safely. I do not believe you would abuse it, so it is yours," she told him. There was a subtle but in there but that was only if he went back on his word. Though, even then with how much she wanted to see him, she might let one incident slide with him. Xahrina hoped he knew though, that she truly wholly wanted him to come back, wanted to see him again. This first meeting, she refused to have be the last no matter what.

None of this was supposed to happen.
He was still reeling from that very idea, recalling how he had brazenly marched his way onto Oisen territory expecting to deal with the old Chieftain, only to be brought before this woman instead. And from there, things had spiraled swiftly out of his control. Not necessarily in a bad way, but he was certainly aware of the mess he was about to make. Well, of the even bigger mess he was about to create.
Lycus could simply lie to her right now, tell her he would be back and never return. Sever this union before it could even happen. He could be the conniving wolf his father would expect him to be and marry Xahrina, gain her clan's trust and attempt to crush them underneath the sheer power of the Wynfrids. He should be thinking about things like that...not genuine thoughts. Maybe it was this gift she possessed that kept him calm, but whatever the case, he felt like he was thinking more clearly than he had in a long while.
He would not lie to her (not completely). He would not go back on his word so long as his father was out of the picture. He wanted this, and Lycus often got what he desired.
Hearing those teasing words, there came a low, throated growl as he nuzzled against the side of her neck. "In theory, I couldn't say no..." he murmured quietly, holding himself back from kissing or tasting her skin. His clan thought he was out hunting- he had some days for delay, but Lycus had mentioned he had to leave immediately because he didn't trust himself. For several reasons.
His arms remained around her as she continued to lean back against him, and he let out a slow and deep sigh against the top of her head. There was that calm again, this strange kinship he didn't understand. It couldn't be possible after only knowing someone for barely a few hours, right? It didn't make sense to him, and yet, he was holding her as though he weren't quite ready to part from her just yet. And the way she was stroking the side of his face could lull him to sleep.
"Then I will return. I promise." No, he shouldn't promise, he shouldn't promise anything...and yet, he was. The wolf had barely hesitated to do so. "I only wish...I could return the favor. But, Xahrina-" Lycus paused, knowing he shouldn't say this, but he said he wasn't going to lie to her unless he absolutely had to. "My...people may not be as accepting. So, promise me...you will not stray from your own land." There was a seriousness in his tone that hadn't been there before.

Xahrina wanted to know more on why the clan wanted hers with them, no two clans have ever joined up before and it was strange but yet the proposal and the thread that loomed over them. The Chieftess knew they would need each other against the Dragon clan to protect their lands and keep those they loved safe. She was very willing to marry this Chiefs son to accomplish that but also because her heart was telling her this was her path to go on, to be with him and not let another take that from her. It was an odd combination of things.
The sound he made in his throat as he nuzzled against the side of her neck made her body shift and press into him a bit, "And...if I dared to just ask if you wanted to spend a night?" she ask him then. No Chiefly demand but a request of what he might want to do. So it might land them in a little trouble but what was life if it wasn't for causing some sort of trouble when you were young?
Her fingers would continue to just touch him, her body comfortably nestled against his chest as he held her. These past few hours had been intense but yet also some of the best thus far in her life. She wanted to keep holding him, to lay under the stars on furs and talk for hours and kiss him. To learn everything about this curious wolf that she was letting slip into her defenses.
That promise though, it made her eyes close as she nodded. She believed him, believed he would come back even if it was to see her. What if his father changed his mind though? She would be forced to deal with the ache of losing something before she even got to have it. "Lycus...even if your people are not, I do need to meet with your father, to learn his intentions more- even at the risk of my own safety to your people," she told him gently, turning her head, she pressed her lips to his cheeks, "I can promise two weeks of waiting, that I will not leave until then but you know I must," she told him, a sadness in her tone that she could not promise this. She was risking her own safety, even if the Chief was agreeable for this, it didn't mean the people were but so long as she was careful, all should be fine. "Lycus I promise to not do anything that would see me harmed," she told him, able to promise him that and mean it. "Our people are different, my own ask questions first before anything, I understand yours is different and I respect that and will not hold anything that happens against them or you but I promise to be careful...as you've learned i'm not often impulsive," she told him with a little smile on her face at that.

'And...if I dared to just ask if you wanted to spend a night?'
Again, he could not bring himself to lie unless he absolutely had to, so he answered her immediately with the truth, gently and so casually. "Then I would stay." Even if it was outside her door. Even if it was out in one of the fields. He would stay, just for one night. She was already lulling him into a peaceful sleep, and he dared to wonder if his slumber would be free of stress and nightmares simply because of her presence.
Her reply to his request, however, instantly made him uneasy. This was where he was lying and had to continue to lie. His father didn't know he was here, nor did he want his son to wed a woman from another clan. If Xahrina set foot onto Wynfrid territory, there was no saying what would happen...but her life would certainly be in danger, and he would not have the power to help her.
But he did have the power now to avoid it. There was just one, horrible task he had to do, and thinking of it right now almost made him ill. She was suppressing that hatred he leaned on to get him through any time with his father, and thinking about murdering him in cold blood was not settling well with him at the moment.
However, that didn't mean he wasn't going to do it. If he had the ability to, he probably already would have done it.
Lycus' jaws clenched, his teeth grinding lightly as he kept himself from arguing. He had no grounds to argue, not unless he was to tell her the truth. So, he would bite his tongue and simply nod slowly. He would have two weeks to do what must be done and make changes. It was barely enough time, but now he had a greater purpose and reason to see it through.
Ookami Wynfrid had to die. He was going to die.
Shutting those bright eyes, he just let his face rest against the side of her own in quiet thought. He could only pray she kept her word and did not arrive any sooner. "You would not be able to hold anything against them...because they very well might kill you on the spot." It was a warning, not a threat. At least, not a threat from him, but she had to understand. He sighed, reigning himself in again as he pressed a chaste kiss to her temple. "Two weeks," he murmured against her hair. "I need at least that to make sure everything is still fine."

Her heart stilled in her chest, her eyes looking at him now. He should easily be able to see the desire there, the want of her question, “I will leave it to you then because I do want you to stay but only if you can,” she told him then after a moment. Where he would stay would be her room of course, not on the floor or on the couch but in her own bed. She wanted to wake with the reality of what she was doing right there in front of her and him there holding her. Never had she welcomed another into her bed but the idea itself was something she didn’t want to pass up with him.
Xahrina had no clue what was waiting for Lycus or even herself should she go to their lands. She wanted to unify them, to have two clans united would be powerful, an actual threat against those that wanted to attack them. It made a part of her actually smile at the idea of scaring them with the wolf and horse united.
With no arguments, she would just lean into him and relax against him. Listening to his breathing and the feel of him against her. This was real and she knew that but it was still hard for her to believe she had given so much trust to a man she just met.
“You think I would not enter your lands without a safety plan in place?” she told him with a little smile. Oh she was planning on being very careful when she went into another clan's land, no matter what was going on with the Chiefs. “I will not leave a day sooner but I will come to you in two weeks but I can’t alone, my people would disapprove as would one of my dear friends who believes I need watching over,” she told him with a little chuckle. Oh, she was going to be fit to be tied after she heard about this, that was for sure but Xahrina would be able to calm her no matter how high her emotions were.
