It was not often that Naeva got a night off, especially not after the war--and even more so with the war threatening to hit again. The banquet attackers had caused quite the stir, and she had increased the amount of training with her men in the infantry.
She rarely stepped foot into a tavern, mostly because it wasn't her place of choice to spend her time. But, she had gotten word that there was a strange man causing scenes in the tavern several nights in a row, so she figured she would check it out.
Naeva could hear the loud roar of chatter even before she opened the door. It would be nice for a low-key evening without any incidents, and she quietly prayed for such as she pushed the door open and stepped inside.
Blue eyes scanned the room for anything that seemed out of sorts, but she did not see anything that needed questioning. At least not yet. Quietly, she made her way to the bar and sat down, her fingers lightly tapping at the surface of the bar. She would wait quietly as she looked around.

Oh, great. Gregor was making his way over and was going to ruin this entire thing. Still, he refrained from rolling his eyes and making it obvious that he was bothered by the man's sudden presence...because, it would seem, Michael had the very same idea. The question was, whether Keiran would relent and let the man have his chance. Attention drifted to the children at the table, and the farmer could only assume that Michael didn't get out too much. Maybe he'd give him this one?
Despite these thoughts, Keiran wasn't budging, even moving to the stool that was directly next to the beautiful newcomer now. Looking across her and down the bar to the other side of her, he regarded Michael. "Always," he answered him flatly, the grin he offered not reaching his eyes. He was also purposely- and smartly- ignoring the looks they were getting from Roxanne. She didn't approve, he knew, but this also wasn't something new.
Maybe she was just jealous...but she could blame her brother then. Keiran had to behave around Roman if he wanted to continue coming here. Even still, when she slid that mug down, Keiran drew his gaze away to throw Rox a wink of gratitude. Roman's words, however, were quickly bringing a frown onto his face, yet he was only partially offended. "Me...cause trouble?" The man actually feigned offense at that, but the sly look was still in his gaze. Then he was bringing Liam into this, and his eyes were narrowing on him.
Alright, Gothard. He was going to remember that.
However, the woman's timidness didn't go unnoticed. It was enough to make even Keiran put a little bit of distance between them- still a normal space to hold a conversation, but more...polite. Although he was extreme with his approaches, making a woman uncomfortable in that way was not something he relished. And he also noted how she didn't look him or Michael in the eye...but her gaze had lifted to Roman.
Dark eyes flickered between the two and the smallest of grins curled a corner of his mouth. Now, he was wondering when the last time the barkeep got laid was. "A pleasure, my lady..." he said, a different kind of curiosity in his tone now.
And then he heard the door open, even amidst the loud conversations. Turning his head, he gave a look over his shoulder to spot the blonde entering. Alone, it seemed. He also wasn't shy about following her with his eyes as she found an empty seat at the bar.

Michael scowled at Roman and held his hand out to catch the drink Rox slid towards him. Nodding to Rox in thanks. "Don't bring him into it." Michael growled under his breath at the mention of his brother. He wasn't that bad okay? He was a gentleman! He took a sip from the mug, glancing down at the woman again. Noting she didn't look at him or Donnelly, and had only eyes for the barkeep. Well then...He could take a hint.
He lifted his head to glanced over at the children he'd left behind. Making sure that they were in fact eating dinner and not just the cookies. He arched an eyebrow as he the two seemed to be inhaling their food and chugging their water. The sound of the door opened and Michael glanced over to see Naeva Northam walk in. Even in the Queen's guard the infantry commander was known. He had never met her personally, but that didn't mean he didn't know who she was. He gave her an appreciative, if not, respectful once over before his attention was suddenly on hearing Danny's voice. "Wow! You're pretty! Want a coo-key? Dottie's mom makes the beeeeeeest coo-key's in all of Aralore, and I know, because I eat a lot of them, they're even better than my grandma's." Michael sputtered into his drink for moment, setting his mug down to look and see that Danny and Dot had weaseled their way up to the strange woman with cookie offerings. Dot held the plate, with an extreme focus, ensuring not a single one of the precious cookies on it fell to the floor. He opened his mouth to say they should be eating their dinner, but as he glanced up and over at the table, he saw they had in fact done that.
"Daniel, what are you doing?" He asked slowly instead. "Sharing." Came his son's simple answer, and watched as the boy stood on his tiptoes to put a cookie in front of the woman before he and Dot were turning away. "Hey! Where's my cookie?" He called. "Men are greedy!" Danny called. He shook his head and watched them then, as they moved onto the next female patron, Danny doing all the talking, and handing over a cookie before they moved on to the next one. He watched as they moved around the whole tavern until they reached Naeva, and Michael watched as Danny climbed a stool, and helped Dot up onto her own, before he reached over and took their second to last cookie and turned to her and gave her that boyish grin before he handed the cookie over.
What had come over his son? He couldn't help but feel a small bit of pride as he observed his sons kindness, and willingness for that matter, to share their cookies. He glanced over at Roman. "Rox got anymore cookies back there? I think the kids are out." He asked, nodding to where the kids now sat at the bar. "If they get too much of a hassle let me know!" He called down to the bar at @naeva, nodding to her unexpected guests.

Roxanne's eyes widened when she returned from the kitchen to find that not only were the two children now sitting at the bar, but there was a new woman there as well. She heard the comment about more cookies just as she returned, and laughed cheerfully. "Yeah, I gotcha covered. Give me a minute." She set the plate of roasted chicken and potatoes she was carrying in front of Xenosa Alaoui first, then dashed back into the kitchen. She quickly slid another bakers' dozen cookies onto a plate and brought them back out, setting them near the children and the blonde. "That's the last of them, kids, so make sure you save one for Ian if you really want him to get one."With that taken care of, she turned to Naeva Northam with a bright smile. "Sorry about that wait! What can I getcha?"

Roman laughed at the two men's reactions to his jab about their brothers. "Hey man, I'm a big brother myself. I gotta side with them," he told them with a shrug and a grin. "But if you aren't causing trouble, you've got nothing to worry about from me. I just gotta make sure you know it." His focus returned to the young woman as she tried the dandelion wine and reacted with enthusiasm. It brought a smile to his face and some warm-fuzzies to his heart to know something he and Roxanne had made had brought so much joy to someone. He was willing to bet that having this young woman try a few new things was going to be a good time if she got this excited about everything. He chuckled when the kids slid her a cookie, too. "Good thinking, Danny-man," he told the little boy, leaning across the counter to ruffle his hair before the kids moved on to pass out more cookies. He turned back to Xenosa Alaoui, nodding. "Yep, dandelion wine. It's made with regular old dandelion flowers and some honey, and it's been aging for three years now. We make more every spring, then it waits in the cellar until it's ready. I'm glad you like it. But don't drink it too fast--it'll hit harder than you'd think if you're not used to drinking."

Another newcomer had entered the bar, and Xenosa had turned the eye the woman briefly, nothing that she looked fierce and somehow, still quite lovely. For a split second, Xenosa wondered if she could be like that someday before she was distracted by the men's back and forth. It caused the faintest hint of a smile to tug at the corners of her mouth as she sipped the wine again, surprised even the second time by the taste. She wished that she could have experienced more in her life, but then, she was here now and could experience anything she wanted, right?
One of the men finally spoke up and at being called m'lady, her nose wrinkled. "Oh, please, just call me Xenosa." She said softly, withdrawing only the slightest bit as she spoke her name aloud in the space with so many ears present. But her unease soon melted away as the young boy she'd noticed earlier came up to her, a little girl in tow. Xenosa's eyes lit up as he spoke, one hand going to her heart as she looked both of them over. She was more than happy to accept his cookie offering, leaning over in her seat. "Why, thank you very much. Such a gentleman!" She exclaimed with a giggle before they turned to offer cookies to a few of the other patrons, the man at her other side calling out to him. She laughed at the child's response, then turned Roman as he spoke. "Well, it's quite amazing." She praised in a delighted tone, taking small sips as she considered his advice on taking is slow. When the freckled woman placed a plate of food in front of Xenosa, she gave her a large grin, saying a polite thanks before the woman shuffled off to the kitchen, soon returning with more cookies and tending to the newest patron that evening.
Xen turned to the man at her other side, the one introduced as Michael. "The young boy, is he yours?" She asked curiously, taking a bite of her potatoes, surprised at just how hungry she was. "He seems very well rounded." She commented. Xenosa had always had a weak spot for children, especially after the life she'd been subjected to. It was nice to see children having happy childhoods somewhere, even if she'd never had one for herself. She had to commend any parents that raised their children properly.

Naeva glanced around the bar briefly until the children came to sit close to where she was. She never really knew how she felt about children--mostly, she felt somewhat awkward around them and never thought she'd have children of her own or even a husband for that matter.
She smiled faintly as she watched them, but when she heard the adult voice call out to her, blue eyes lifted to glance at Michael and she gave him a nod, waving it off as if saying she doubted they would be a hassle.
Her glance fell upon Roxanne when she approached her and asked what she could get for her. Naeva offered the woman a smile and nodded in greeting to her. "No worries--I wasn't waiting long. Could I just have some tea, please?" It wasn't often that she drank, but every so often when she was off duty it was nice to unwind a little with a drink. Unfortunately, she was somewhat still on duty. "I received word that there was a strange man causing scenes in a tavern a couple of nights in a row? Was that here? Do you know anything about it?"
It was slightly obvious that Naeva was not a typical lady. She looked like a guard or a warrior, even without her gear. Her hair was braided in rows going down her scalp with the rest of it freely falling down to the middle of her back. While most ladies wore fancy dresses, Naeva dressed in a simple one, most likely with leather pants and high laced up boots underneath.
