ABOUT NAEVA ...

• Naeva was the only daughter of Alistair and Simone Northam.  Her mother died young, however, and her father had to raise her on his own.  He grew up in the military, so he only knew how to raise her like he had been raised--to train in fighting, how to wield a sword, and to become part of an army.  
• So she grew up training to fight, only being allowed to become part of an army because of her father's rank.  Because she was a woman, she dealt with a lot of judgement and doubt and needed to constantly prove herself to others.  
• When Queen Alexandria took the throne and proved to the kingdom that women were capable of being strong leaders, Naeva finally began to become accepted as a fighter and was finally being called upon to get involved with training and missions around the kingdom.
• Because of her strong desire to become high up in the ranks, she worked hard and never had time for boys, despite working and fighting with them.  She was only in one relationship, with a man named Zane.  He was the first to treat her as an equal and they became close friends very quickly. Zane did not know how to read, so Naeva spent some of her downtime teaching him at the cliffs.  She eventually fell in love with him, but never admitted it to him.  She was afraid he did not feel the same way and was afraid of the rejection if he did not.
• Naeva was quick to move up in ranks, eventually becoming the commander of the infantry division.  So when the war on Aralore came to, she bravely led the infantry and helped win several battles, gaining respect from the other men in the army.
• Unfortunately, Zane died in the war, or went missing. She doesn't exactly know.  But she feels it was probably not meant to be between them, anyway, and that she needs to spend her time focusing on strengthening the infantry.
• Naeva became involved in trying to find Cassandra when she was kidnapped by some bandits and held hostage.  She helped capture the bandits and brought them back to Aralore, ensuring they were put in prison.  
• With the war over, she spends her time training harder and gets involved wherever she can.  She helped Orin capture a Saelis enemy disguised as a Tresterian guard. 
• Naeva would never admit it, but she feels very lonely and hopes to someday find love, marry and have kids.  
• Deep down, she would love to dress up and spend a day as a lady and not worry about needing to prove herself to be tough and 'one of the guys'.  But she never had a reason to and is afraid of judgement.
