APPEARANCE: Roman is a tall man (6'3) with a fairly muscular build thanks to doing all the heavy lifting around the tavern. His hair is always a bit of a mess, and he only makes it worse by running his fingers through it whenever he's thinking or nervous. He keeps his beard trimmed, at least, and his hair is healthy even with it's somewhat wild curls. Roman is almost always smiling, and he laughs easily.

MARITAL STATUS: Single.

FAMILY MEMBERS: Mother - Dahlia, Father - Ovid Gothard (deceased), Sisters: Roxanne Abernathy , Rosa, and Rebekah (Rosa and Rebekah are just fillers, but they would be younger sisters for sure!), niece Dot (4). 

POSITION/OCCUPATION: Barkeeper, brewmaster, and host at the tavern

PERSONALITY: Roman's personality is a lot like that of his dog, Apple (her full name is Apple Ann Cider)--playful, sweet, and utterly protective of family. He's a fairly easygoing person who isn't easily upset unless it involves the safety of one of his sisters. Having grown up working in taverns and pubs, he's well aware of the kind of attention and remarks a pretty young woman can draw, and he's ready to throw down with anyone who dares to throw that kind of thing at his sisters. He's passionate about finally running his own tavern and eager to get the people of Aralore to bond over good drinks.

Roxanne, his nearest sister, is his best friend, and the two are together most of the time. He also loves to spoil his niece Dot whenever possible. 

HISTORY:
Roman Gothard is the only son of Ovid and Dahlia Gothard, from a family that had run a tavern in Aralore for generations. He is too young to remember their original tavern, the Singing Sparrow, from before Aralore's fall, or his father Ovid but he worked alongside his mother and her father at their next venture, the Dancing Bear, in Tresteria. He jokes that beer and ale run in his veins, and he's most at home working at a tavern. His grandfather tasked him with being the man of the house before passing away, and Roman took this very seriously. He is determined to protect his mother and sisters.

When his mother heard that their home was being restored, they sold the Dancing Bear for as much money as they could, gathered all the siblings, including Roxanne's husband, and moved home. When the Queen moved them to another island, the Gothards followed as well, devoted to their home and their queen. 

Roman is hardly a soldier, but he contributed during the recent war as much as he was able. He was much relieved when things returned to normal and he was able to focus his attention back on the new and improved Singing Sparrow. His mother still helps around the place, sharing recipes with her children and helping when she can, but Roxanne and Roman have been pressuring her to go easy on herself. He likes being able to use little Dot as an excuse to send his mother to bed early. 

Roman spends most of his time in the tavern either tending the bar, chatting with customers, or working on new brews in the cellar. He also keeps his dog, Apple, with him, and she has happily become a kind of mascot for the place, and loves being pet by customers.
