When the two students he knew left it was a little nice listening to the younger students talk about their families or the work they did. It really made Zander miss working on the farm. As much as he loved being a soldier he missed working with the animals. It had always been a nice escape when he was younger.
As they finally left the redhead let out a soft sigh. He turned to where Pearce had sat down and stepped behind him. "You're very welcome, Mr. Lockheed." He stated playfully as he gently massaged Pearces shoulders.
"You know, I'd almost forgotten how good you look teaching. No wonder I was such a terribly distracted student." He teased with a soft chuckle. Though he was still anxious about his sister he was glad he'd joined Pearce. It had been nice meeting some of his his students.

He smiled slightly. "It's Marquis," you know, he teased. "Not 'mister,' I'll have you know." Honestly, he still wasn't sure if he liked Zander using titles or honorifics with him. It was strangely alluring but not something he felt he should push or could push.
Pearce reached a grateful hand to brush it over Zander's hand on his shoulder. The massage was immensely appreciated and he sank back into the chair.
He blushed again. A lot. "D-don't say that," he rumbled, grinning and looking up at the young man. It gave him terrible ideas in the moment of another sort of distraction. Pearce blew a kiss up at Zander. "Would you like to sit with me for a minute, teacher's pet?" So maybe he had heard earlier.

The teasing made him chuckle with a mischievous grin. "Right, how terribly rude of me, m'lord." He teased in return as he leaned down to press a quick kiss on the side of his neck. "Marquis Lockheed." He purred softly with the same little grin planted on his lips.
In most situations Zander found it rather odd now to not just call him Pearce. Of course in front of the right company he knew better. Still, there were times it didn't feel as strange for him to use the marquis title or certain honorifics. Especially if he got to be a pain with them.
"Don't say what? How much I couldn't keep my eyes off you? Or how I'd get so distracted by your voice I wouldn't actually hear a word you said? Or perhaps how I just loved watching your hands work with a pen." He hummed thoughtfully before letting out a devilish giggle. The request though made him pause. "And here I thought you didn't know what that term was." He teased as he moved around to stand in front of Pearce.

Pearce shivered as Zander said his name like that and grinned. The redhead was far too good at getting him excited.
The barrage of compliments and what Zander found attractive about him was almost embarrassing. "How did you ever learn," he teased. If he was such a distraction. "C-c-ontext clues," he murmured. Pearce didn't exacrly know what the term meant but he was figuring it out. He frowned playfully at Zander and the fact that he was still standing amd not in his lap. He really needed to hold him right now only he was doing a great job hiding it behind all the normal. "You loved watching me work with a pen, huh?" He chuckled, reaching out to pull Zander toward his lap.
"Please give me a hug," he added, a little more seriously.

"No idea how I learned." He teased with a shrug of his shoulders and a playful snicker. "I guess you're just that good of a teacher." Zander didn't put up any resistance as he was pulled towards Pearce and easily moved onto his lap. Grateful for the closeness if not a bit nervous that it might just break his resolve again.
Still, he pressed close to his boyfriend as he wrapped his arms around his neck. "As many hugs as you want." He said in a softer, more serious tone. Being close to Pearce did put Zanders heart a bit more at ease. "I also happen to like your hands quite a bit." He grinned again as he pressed a soft kiss against the marquis lips.

Pearce rolled his eyes. He doubted that. Zander was a good student though, smart, no matter how easily distracted or horny. "You are a good student," he corrected, settling the young man in his lap and rubbing his hands and arms over him. He pressed soft kisses to his lips and neck.
Clearly he had more than teaching in mind, his hands massaging Zander's chest and thigh. He wanted a distracted and rather hoped Zander did too.
"Tell me, are you a good teacher's pet? Or a bad one?" He was getting maybe a lkttle too invested in the idea but he couldn't help it. "I like your hands too."

Being called a good student made him scoff with a laugh. Sure one on one was easier for him but he was still easily distracted. If it wasn't Pearce it was a bird at the window, wondering if he'd put away his armor properly, trying to figure out where a far too annoying noise was coming from. He didn't see himself as a good student no matter how much he'd learned.
Speaking of distractions, Pearces hands and lips on him were a nice one. "Terrible teachers pet. Just awful really." He stated playfully with a laugh.
"Perhaps I need a lesson on how to be a better one." He purred as he peppered soft kisses down the marquis jaw.

To Zander's credit, his thoughtful nature had always endeared him to Pearce. Sure, sometimes he was distracted, but he preferred to think of it positively. Maybe good student wasn't the rigjt term, sure, but he wasn't a bad one. Nor did it lessen how good of a learned he was.
At the moment, Pearce himself was finding it hard to stay on task. A certain redhead had that effect on him, drawing all of his attention. "Terrible," he repeated more firmly with a smile.
Pearce traced his fingers over Zander's throat with one hand thoughtfully. "Perhaps," he mumbled, leaning forward to gently graze Zander's lips with his teeth. "What sort of lesson? P-punishment? Or reward?" One of those was a little more work for the marquis but he was quite willing, provided he knew Zander was. His hands got a lot more frisky with his young lover.
The more he toyed with the boy the more his own heart raced. He could feel the headache coming back.

[After some fun and a shocking interruption] [Log from discord]
PEARCE While he was feeling more confident in his attitude, he was much less confident in location. And honestly, as much as he said he wanted to do more, he likely would take a lot of convincing to do anything, even in the privacy of his bedroom. He should have known better than to try anything in the library. It put a new perspective on a lot of places. Here. The garden. Outside the estate. Anywhere that was not his locked bedroom. He knew Zander liked to be more adventurous though, so it only made Peace anxious. Maybe that was why he had apologized before.
To be honest, he wasn't surprised. This was what he got for trying new things. Maybe it was better to just avoid his cousin instead of talk about it...that seemed awkward, sure, but much less confrontational.
The marquis sat without much encouragement. He was starting to feel a bit more like himself, like he could breath and think almost straight. He nodded faintly. "Check on your s-sister. I'll b-be here." Pearce winced at hearing himself talk. He leaned back in the chair. He could feel his heartbeat pounding in his chest still. Not quite as fast as before, but it was painfully noticeable. If he hadn't just promised not to use it anymore, he would have wanted that tea and a lot of it. Something normally used to encourage sleep might not be so bad. Or a bath. Yes, definitely a bath.
ZANDER There was a deep urge to hunt Percival down and throttle him. Why did he have to ruin everything? While he knew it wasn't very fair to be mad at him for walking into the public space where they happened to be fucking it didn't stop him from being. Ever since he'd arrived things had been increasingly more frustrating. All he wanted was to be able to have one safe space to be intimate with his boyfriend.
Though he supposed said boyfriend wouldn't appreciate if Zander were to hurt his little cousin. As he walked into the blue room where his sister was laying he saw her eyes flutter open. "Hey, pretty girl." He cooed sweetly as he walked over to the sofa. As she sat up for a hug he pulled her onto his lap. They talked for a moment before he sat her back in her seat. She at least seemed a little better. Much more coherent than when she first laid down.
After getting the glass of water the redhead brought it back to the library and handed it to Pearce. "Do you want to go lay down? Sit outside? Take a bath with me?"
PEARCE Thankfully, Pearce thought, he still had one safe space to be intimate with his boyfriend. As much as he worried about getting teased by his cousin, he hoped Zander didn't take anything out on the man in turn.
He wasn't successful, but he tried to pretend to take a nap while Zander was away. It helped calm him down a little. "Thanks," he murmured softly, accepting the water carefully. He stared at it for a moment, and then took a few small sips. Pearce shook his head in slow reply, not sure he wanted to do anything, but then he stopped at the mention of a bath.
"...long as we...locked the d-door," he said, a mixture of hopeful and embarrassed. "With lots of lavender." He'd purchased quite a lot of lavender perfumes and herbs and oils and lotions from one of the local shops and he was desperate to use them.
ZANDER The stipulations on the bath made him chuckle softly. "Of course, but you have to come with me. Think you can walk?" Zander would need to make sure Pearce talked with Percival. This wasn't exactly something that could be swept under the rug, not with how he knew the other blonde felt about their relationship. Of course there was always the option of the redhead talking to him but he had a sneaking suspicion that conversation wouldn't end well. He did step away for a moment to ask a servant to get some hot water ready for their bath.
He led Pearce back to the master bathroom thinking it would just be best to get the bath ready himself. He gathered some clean rags and towels, lavender salts, perfumes, and soaps, and a few other essentials. Once inside he made sure to lock the door behind him and set the things on the counter before starting to pour in the things he needed to.
PEARCE He shifted his legs slightly. "Mmmaybe?" He winced again, embarrassed. The marquis got to his feet easily enough and was quite a lot more steady than he expected himself to be.
He made it to the bathroom fine. But as he watched Zander collect and prepare he felt...funny. He couldn't really explain except he felt like he might pass out or float away or both. His head hurt and it was suddenly difficult to see straight.
"Zander..." The man's name felt heavy in his mouth. He reached out to the redhead's shoulder, the other pressed against the back of his head whee it hurt the most. "I can't..." He could make words, he just wasn't entirely sure what to say. He could feel himself wanting to give into gravity again. "Mmmy head hurts," he mumbled.
ZANDER The way Pearce said his name sounded odd. It made him worried. As he was turning around he nearly dropped the container of lavender salt as the marquis suddenly leaned against him. "Woah, easy."
He wrapped an arm around Pearce's waist and set the container down with his free hand. "Let's go lay you down." The bath could wait a bit. He half carried Pearce back to their bedroom and gently set him on the bed before calling for Heather. "Get the tea the doctor wanted him to drink." As she left he returned back to run his fingers through the blondes hair. "What's going on, love?"
PEARCE He felt bad about the bath. He had really wanted one. Especially with Zander. But he also felt lightheaded and dizzy and as Zander helped him to the bedroom, he tried really hard to help walk there, whimpering faintly, tears in his eyes it hurt so much.
They barely made it to the bed when he threw up. Which was strange since he didn't feel nauseous. "No t-tea," he attempted to insist. Not after Briella had been affected. He didn't want to hurt her again. Or Zander. Or Percival.
Pearce tried to stay sitting up, but his body had other ideas and he found himself going limp on the pillow. His eyes settled on Zander's, because as much as he wanted to focus and say other things he really couldn't, only he wasn't sure if that was pain or some other part of his body not working. "Zzz..." He refused to let go of his hold on Zander's clothes.
The tea would be rather effective if brewed strong enough. Or very likely he could simply eat it, as disgusting as it might be.
ZANDER Zander's worry that he'd been distracted from earlier crashed over him all over again. Without moving from his spot he called for another servant to bring him cold water, a bucket, and a rag. "Easy now." Though he told himself it was just Pearce being overwhelmed by everything he couldn't help the worse thoughts spiraling in his head.
"Don't over work yourself." He insisted softly. The things he'd asked for were brought back before the tea though that was expected. Zander placed the bucket next to his knee just in case Pearce got sick again before dunking the rag in the cold water. After wringing it out he pressed the now cool, damp rag against the side of the marquis neck then his cheeks.
PEARCE It was increasingly difficult to make himself pay attention to the words. He had the relaxing part down, clearly, even his hand on Zander's shoulder slowly growing slack.
He was scared. More than just from having a panic attack, because he knew this wasn't that, only he couldn't manage to explain that. Pearce wasn't sure what it was, but it hurt enough that he sort of wished he wasn't awake still. He shuddered at the water, the momentary distraction helpful but the pain was still too much. He closed his eyes, moaning faintly and not really aware he was making any noise, just really wanting it to stop even has his nose started bleeding just a little. Thankfully he didn't notice and couldn't move to touch it when he did feel it.
ZANDER Zander really wished Pearce would or could talk to him. There wasn't much he could do when he didn't know what was happening. He didn't like not knowing. It made him feel helpless, which was exactly why he panicked so much when his sister drank the tea.
Speaking of which as Heather walked in with the cup he was about to thank her for her help when he noticed Pearce's nose bleeding. Luckily the redhead didn't need to say anything before the maid rushed out of the room to call the doctor again. They really did need one for the manor. Still, at the moment he was left feeling helpless and more panicked than he had before.
It appeared this time Pearce might not be the one that needed the bucket. While he had no qualms about blood at all he felt his heart drop into his stomach. His vision tunneled in on the man laying next to him as he wiped away the blood and continued trying to make him more comfortable.
PEARCE Unfortunately he didn't know much more than Zander. It didn't make much sense to him. As Heather entered he managed to look up and smiled faintly.
He also found he could squeeze Zander's shoulder a bit more firmly again so he tried to do that. He didn't like seeing the young man so distraught, especially when it was his fault. Pearce took a breath and tried words again with a bit more success. "Zander...I..." Not that he knew really what he was trying to say. Just to say it and prove he was a little bit okay. "T-talk..." if the redhead would at least talk to him, maybe things would be okay too.
It was a little hard to tell still, but the pain was subsiding slightly, after only a few minutes.
ZANDER Zander flinched a bit as Pearce squeezed his shoulder again. Mostly in surprise. He took his hand and peppered soft kisses along his palm and down his wrist. "I suppose we'll take a bath later hm?" Though he tried to sound playful there was a small waver of concern to his voice.
He waited next to Pearce. Keeping him in the bed as he insisted that he drink the tea Heather had brought until there was a knock on the door. Zander looked up as it opened with Heather and the doctor enter the room and quietly shut the door behind them.
PEARCE He nodded slowly and tried to keep smiling for Zander though what he really wanted to do was curl up into a ball with his boyfriend and take a nap and block out everything else. He might recognize his own anxiety but he preferred to avoid most of it.
There wasn't any way he was getting himself out of bed and while he didn't want the tea he knew it would help. He struggled to swallow a little but he managed.
Pearce wasn't thrilled to have yet another stranger in his room but he supposed things couldn't get much worse. He was a little relieved to see Breeze sneak into the room and immediately claim a corner of the bed for herself. Maybe cats weren't bad therapy animals after all.
The doctor set her bag down near the bed, giving Zander a small gesture to move so she could inspect the marquis. "Lord Lockheed? Can you hear me?" The blonde tried to nod but couldn't manage to speak. "How long has he been like this?" she asked to Zander, checking his pulse and pressing a hand to his forehead.
Pearce shifted uncomfortably at the contact, looking back to Zander and then over to Breeze before closing his eyes. "Hurts..." He didn't want the stranger to keep touching him but he also wanted his head not to hurt so much. He tried to reach out for the redhead again, wanting to hold him close. The tea seemed to help a little as it sunk in, but the marquis was still quite out of it.
ZANDER It seemed Whisky had been close on Breezes heels as she snuck into the room. As Zander moved aside to allow the doctor to check over the pup headbutt his calf to be picked up. The redhead lifted him into his arms and carried him around the bed to sit next to Pearce with Whisky on his lap.
The question aimed at him made him blink a bit before he cleared his throat. "He started panicking roughly an hour ago I think then became ill and had a small nose bleed around thirty minutes ago." Time had all seemed to bleed together when Pearce started becoming worse so he wasn't entirely sure. Still, he reached out to hold the marquis hand, not caring about current company.
Zander rubbed his thumb comfortingly over the back of his hand as his free on pet the dog in his lap. Happy Whisky seemed calm enough for once to sit still. Even Breeze padded between the two men and curled her large body in a small gap between them and began purring softly. "He's had issues with blood pressure and stress before as well as a heart attack."
PEARCE He wasn't sure how to feel about the dog on the bed. He supposed he would allow it this time, seeing as Zander seemed relaxed. Breeze too, amazingly enough. Both animals co-existing within reach of each other felt surreal. The whole moment did.
Most of the words made sense. And his head no longer felt like it was going to explode, just a dull ache in the back of his head. Had it been that long? It felt like moments to him. Which was probably a good thing.
"Stroke. Likely from blood clots." The doctor murmured something else indistinct under her breath, likely a combination of surprised curses and putting pieces together, making note of the empty mug on the bedside table and from the smell knew enough of what it was. High blood pressure was rather difficult to diagnose, but if the man had had a heart attack before and now this... "You might have saved his life with that cannabis tea. Bring another cup in here. He should drink that daily, twice a day for a while. And not be under so much stress." She turned Pearce's face so she could study his eyes carefully. The marquis half grumbled, half whimpered in displeasure.
"Is it just a headache, my lord? Any family history of strokes?"
Pearce nodded again. He didn't really know what a stroke was but apparently that was what had happened to him. Maybe. It could have been what killed his father but he wasn't sure.
"I'd say luckily, it was only a minor one since he is still awake. He'll need bed rest. And supervision for a day or so. Some of the effects could be permanent," she cautioned, covering her bases. There wasn't all that much she could do otherwise. Clearly the two men holding hands didn't faze her professional working environment. The animals though she seemed less pleased with but didn't say anything.
ZANDER Hearing that some effects could be permeate made Zander a bit confused though far more concerned. Which effects was that exactly? "Some leeches may help. They should thin his blood and rid his body of the bad blood in his body." She stated as she checked over the visible blue veins on his inner wrist. Pearce wouldn't like that at all. Zander knew that but it still it seemed like their best idea. "Thank you, doctor." The redhead murmured.
"If that's all that's needed for now I'll leave though please call on me again should anything else arise." Zander nodded as she walked away before letting out a heavy sigh. "Heather, would you go get some more tea please?" He had no intention of leaving Pearce alone for even a moment but his sister also still needed him.
"Would you be alright with Briella staying up here as well? I want to keep an eye on both of you." As he agreed he asked for Heather to be brought up as well. As she left with his cup Zander shifted slightly so he could lay his head on his boyfriends chest. "You can't go scaring me like that." He whimpered softly. Briella was brought up before before the tea and was quick to curl up be behind her brothers back.
PEARCE It was quite strange, being talked about in the third person even though he was right there. That was fine since he was tired anywhere. He still wanted a bath, but a nap seemed much more likely. Leeches did not sound pleasant and he tried to shake his head at the idea. Sure, he might pass out at the sight of his own blood, but he most certainly did not like the idea of things...eating it. It sounded painful.
The marquis didn't quite catch all of what Zander asked him as he caught himself yawning at the same time. Something about watching his sister, so the blonde nodded, eyes half closed to sleep already, awkwardly moving his arm to rest it on Zander's hair.
He was asleep before either Briella or the tea arrived, tired from their earlier activities and the stress and strain of everything after. He was quite easy to wake to drink more, but clearly very tired and in need of rest. The marquis slept through most of the afternoon, woken only if nudged until his growling stomach woke him around supper time. He blinked faintly, confused about what time it was and what was going on. He felt...heavy. And then he noticed the various animals and people strewn about him. "Wha...?"
ZANDER As it turned out Pearce's plans to make Zander relax for the day worked fairly well. Though he didn't feel very relaxed. Breeze had taken up a space curled against Pearce's side as Whisky spread out his furry little body at their feet. Briella curled up behind her brothers back making it very hard for him to turn. Though he was glad they were resting at least.
As upset and stressed as he was it was kind of nice. Curling up in the bed with everyone that was important to him. Though he couldn't sleep Zander took the time to at least try and read one of the books in the drawer on Pearce's side of the bed. Though he found that he much more enjoyed when the marquis read to him.
As he heard Pearce wake up Zander sat up with a soft smile. "Hey love." He sat up a bit more to look over his boyfriend. "Did you sleep okay? Are you feeling any better?"
PEARCE It was cozy. As much as he was a little startled seeing the dog on the bed (at least Whisky being close by in general no longer startled him) it was nice. He couldn't see Briella on the other side of Zander.
The marquis stared blankly at the dog and the cat, dozing docilely less than five feet apart. It was...confusing. And then he heard Zander's soft greeting. He looked over at the redhead with his eyes, turning his head slowly like he wasn't sure how for a moment. He didn't remember getting in bed. The last thing he remembered was that they were going to take a bath. He smiled, still tired and replied slowly. "Zander...did we take a..." his mouth struggled to shape the word for a second. "Bath?" Even as he spoke some of it slowly came back to him. In pieces.
The pain, the doctor, the stumbling, and anxiety, and throwing up and thinking about it made his stomach flip over. "Am I...dying?" He asked softly. He didn't feel like he was right now but...well, he wasn't sure what had happened, even had he remembered everything.
ZANDER The first question made him chuckle softly. He really wished they'd been able to take a bath. To just sit in the warm water together and relax. That would have been nice. "Ah, no the bath had the be postponed." He stated with a soft chuckle.
The second made all the color drain from his face. "D-Dy..." He couldn't even get the word out of his mouth. Zander could feel his heart break at just the idea. Quickly he shook his head as if he was trying to banish the thoughts all together. "Nope. No, no, no, no you're not d-..." The redhead grit his teeth.
"You're not. You've got some heart problems that are pretty common and you gotta take better care of yourself." He stated firmly as he dragged his fingers through his hair. "That includes eating dinner."
PEARCE He frowned slightly. At least he hadn't forgotten about something as pleasant as a bath with Zander. It really would have been nice though. Later, maybe.
Pearce grew a bit anxious at the look on Zander's face. He couldn't even say the word, which, while sweet, was very concerning. The speed with which Zander repeatedly answered in the negative made him think maybe he was right to be concerned. He didn't like to be so pessimistic, however, so the younger man's refusal was appreciated. The Marquis moved an unsteady hand up to press against Zander's cheek and he managed a brighter smile, of all things. "It's okay."
After two cups of tea, he wasn't very hungry on the surface. But he was too tired to say no and he hadn't eaten in a while. Still, he had questions first and something else he needed to do after drinking so much. How Zander got 'heart problems' from a bad headache confused him, but he trusted him. "What..." he swallowed painfully. "What did the...doctor say?" he asked slowly. He hadn't stumbled over any words, but some did seem to take him a heartbeat to think about how to say them right.

It was most certainly not okay. Zander had lost everysingle person he ever really cared about. The only person he'd managed to keep this long was his sister and there was a reason he was so protective over her. He couldn't lose Pearce too. Not now. That was also a terrifying thought. That without realizing it he'd opened himself up for heartache.
At Pearces question he tried to push away scared thoughts of running away. "Well, she asked if heart attacks or strokes ran in your family. She said you need to drink your tea twice a day." Zander idly ran his fingers through the blondes hair as he tried to make himself calm again. While the redhead didn't fear death for himself it wasn't a pleasant thought when it came to the few people he loved.
"You're going to need a leech treatment." He knew the marquis wouldn't like to hear that but there wasn't much to be done. Briella stirred with a whine behind Zander before sitting up and rubbing the sleep from her eyes. "I'm hungry."

Pearce could tell Zander didn't believe his reassurance. No, it was not okay, he would admit that. And no, he certainly didn't want to die. But generally, the marquis preferred the path of least discomfort and least resistance. And also he knew Zander was going to worry so he was hoping that, maybe, if he tried to be more positive (whether he felt that way or not) it might help.
Most of his concentration went toward Zander's words while he spoke, but he found it difficult not to lose himself in Zander's fingers in his hair. It was relaxing and he could easily fall asleep to the feeling, his hand on Zander's face coming to rest against the boy's chest. "Don't know," he forced himself to mumble. "My father...died in his forties. In his office." The implication being they didn't know what happened. He felt himself trailing off and shook his head slowly to try and wake up. As for the tea...he didn't want to. Yes, it helped, but he worried someone else would drink it when they weren't supposed to. "Okay," was the word his mouth made instead.
The marquis shivered and then groaned softly. Leeches. Not something he had ever had applied to himself but he had heard of the treatment fro various things. If he had been a bit more himself, he was certain just the word would have given him the inclination to faint. It combined some of his least favorite things all in one. Tiny gross critters, bleeding, and doctors. "Please, no," he breathed.
The sudden noise from behind Zander made him blink in confusion and then he heard Briella's voice. Slowly it dawned on him that Zander had likely invited her to bed with them to watch over both his charges at once. Pearce was mildly embarrassed. Her desire for food wasn't a bad idea. "Have you talked to..." For a moment he couldn't pull up his cousin's name and that unsettled him. "To Percival?" he finished a moment later.

The whole idea that the marquis father died in his office made Zander wonder if someone might have poisoned him. It wouldn't be that terribly surprising. Nobles were often times rude and downright cruel to their servants. People who had contact and control of all the things nobles needed in their day to day lives. Pearce was different though. Much kinder to his staff and...well everyone for that matter.
The mans plea against the leech treatment made him sigh. "I know you don't want to but if it'll help..." He trailed off a bit as he heard his sister. Zander turned to her with a soft smile and pressed a kiss on her forehead. "We'll be getting food soon I promise." After a moment of thought he sat up a bit more with a stretch.
"Why don't you take Whisky downstairs and see what's for dinner. We'll be down down soon." The blonde girl nodded sleepily before climbing out of the bed and calling for the pup to follow her. Whisky stood in the bed with a long stretch and a yawn before jumping down and following after her. Once she'd left Zander turned back to his boyfriend.
"No I haven't talked to him. Are you sure you want me to do that?" He asked teasingly. Trying to return to some normal sense of playfulness.

Poison would not have been a knew thought. The late Lord Lockheed had been a rather polarizing figure and not made very many friends. There would have certainly been those with motive among nobility and his serving staff alike. Family was less likely, but only because the man had been rather benevolent to most of his inner circle. The current Lord Lockheed would not be surprised to know his father had loved him, in is own twisted way. In the end, it was still unclear what had happened to the man.
If it would help...he supposed Zander was right to insist. That didn't mean the marquis had to like it. He sighed and didn't refuse further. It wasn't a resounding yes, but quiet acceptance would have to do. Best not to think about it.
Whisky moving startled the cat on his stomach. Breeze tensed awake and shifted to watch the girl and the dog leave, pressing her paws into Pearce. He grunted softly and reached a hand out to stroke the feline. Zander's playful remark confused him, but he was too tired still to be embarrassed. The scene in the library wasn't what he meant, however. "No, no. Not about that. About..." His gaze drifted over the blankets encasing him. He didn't know how to talk about it. "I need to...to tell my family what happened."

The incident in the library, or at least what the other blonde saw, hadn't been what he was talking about either. That would be a rather short conversation. Something along the lines of 'like what ya saw?'. Though he wouldn't say that outloud to th marquis.
Zander very much blamed what happened to Pearce on his cousin. Certainly he had cause to be shocked but if he had just walked out without such an extreme reaction this surely could have been avoided. If the redhead were to talk to him now he wasn't sure how well he could keep his promise to his boyfriend. Percival already made his blood boil now to be the cause of his lover being hurt? It was unacceptable.
"You should let them know. I can be there with you if you want?" Zander knew he could keep himself if check if he were there for Pearce as moral support. With a sigh he pat Breeze gently for her to move off of the marquis as he got out of bed. "C'mon then, ya need food and prolly need ta' piss." It seemed his accent betrayed how anxious and still angry he actually was.

It did not occur to the marquis to blame his cousin. Certainly it had been a very sudden and high stress moment that hadn't felt good and most certainly had contributed to the conditions that brought about his stroke. Still, considering he hadn't been feeling great for a while and he disliked blaming his constant stress on others, he avoided the thought.
Pearce nodded slowly, shifting a little and trying to sit up a bit more. His limbs listened to him but he still felt too heavy and too tired to get up. "Prim...Prim won't be happy," he said, trying to force a small laugh. Breeze reluctantly relinquished her warm bed and curled up in the spot Briella had been in.
Food, right. The marquis tried again to pull himself up to a bit more effect, but the idea of actually get out of the bed and walking sounded exhausting already. He blushed slightly as Zander mentioned relieving himself. Partly because it was a bit awkward of a discussion topic. Partly because he did need to piss and he wasn't sure he could stand up to do that. For the second time that day, Pearce felt himself wishing he could melt into the floor. He swallowed uncomfortably. "I'll...meet you downstairs?" It came out a question despite him not intending it to.
