PERSONALITY:
Count Pearce Lockheed is a very sweet and rather small man despite his height. He doesn't take up a room with his presence, nor does he have much desire too. He's been picked on and bullied a lot of his life and between his soft spoken nature, stutter, and the expectation of him taking over the Lockheed family, he has become a rather nervous person. In the company of close friends, he is much easier going and even confident, but around those he doesn't know, he's not one to stick up for himself often, but he will do his best to do so for others. He is highly protective of those he cares about.
He is a very caring and genuine individual who honestly just wants people to get along and always tries to see the best in people and not dwell on problems of the past. Pearce isn't always an optimist, but he is hopeful. His childhood was filled with a lot of abuse and less than pleasant memories which he does his best to put behind him, but it doesn't help his nerves.
Pearce is extremely squeamish and has a notoriously weak stomach when it comes to anything related to blood, guts, internal organs, vomit and copious amounts of bodily fluids. He's apt to pass out or lose his lunch. In extreme circumstances, he has been known to pull himself together as necessary. He likes extravagant rumors, stupid conspiracy theories and reading.
HISTORY:
Born and raised in Aralore, Pearce remembers a little of the time while Aralore was part of the Order. He has much clearer memories of the first war with Saelis(when he was nine), the war that saw King Elliot and Queen Serenity slain and the crown princess vanished in the night. Maybe feared she too had been killed but despite the rough family life the boy lived through, and, perhaps, because of it, he dared to hope otherwise. When many left the slowly ruined kingdom, the Lockheed family remained, attached to the land their family had overseen for generations. The family had always been a flexible one. Not very stubborn except in clinging to what they had. They bent to the new king until there was nothing left. And when they left, it was reluctantly and with the vow to return as soon as they could.
He spent a lot of time abroad, being taught under a number of tutors many different arts of a noble. Propriety, fencing, art, reading, calligraphy, music, all the things he would have learned before. Of them, combat was his least favorite. But his father, having no other sons and being a military man himself, insisted, forcing his son to such a life. He excelled at it, despite having no desire to be a soldier. Pearce far enjoyed art and reading and writing, but these were not things to be confided in his father, and while his mother was some small comfort, she took ill shortly after their leaving Aralore and died before they could return home.
By the time they returned to the devastated Aralore, before the Queen found her way home, Pearce was the head of his family. And he was dedicated in doing what he could for his family and anyone else who returned to foster a new life in their old homeland. He took up teaching, in things he had learned on his travels abroad, but mostly reading and writing. When Alexandria returned(with proof, no less), he welcomed her openly(he was twenty-seven).
His uncle and cousins had been left behind in the old land, refusing to leave their home. It was his cousin that was captured by Saelis and forced to speak of where the queen and her people had fled. It was his cousin who was killed by the Order. And when Eoin returned with this news and the news the queen was still alive, Pearce once again sought out that hope. Of redemption and revenge for his family. And for the return of the rightful Queen once more. He might not have considered himself a soldier, but he proved he was capable. Rescuing the queen did not prove easy. And it did everything to reinforce why Pearce had never wanted to be a soldier to begin with. He despised violence. And despised even more that he was good at it. When they returned to the new isle, he vowed never to draw a blade on another again.
He returned to being a teacher, hoping to do his own smaller part in rebuilding the kingdom. Even during the war that followed, while he would offer advice and aid in other ways, he remained out of the fighting.
