"Maybe you should teach me to relax then. You know I'm a hands on learner." He teased with a playful and flirtatious grin. If Zander had a feeling he wouldn't entirely distract the man from what was happening but if he could provide some sort of relief it would be better than nothing. Perhaps that meant being a solid constant. Being sassy and flirtatious as if nothing was going on.
If he was being honest he couldn't remember what he'd originally started talking to Pearce about either. "I think it was a book I saw you reading? I recognized the cover even if I didn't know what it said." He stated with a small chuckle.
The woman began cleaning his skin off Zander brought his hand back to his lips. He hoped providing a different sensation might ease his worry. "If I'm being honest I didn't care about the damn book." He murmured before pressing a kiss agaisnt his knuckles. "Out of all the other soldiers, all the men I'd see in and out of uniform all day, you were the best looking man I'd seen." That had been part of the reason he was so nervous to talk to him. The redhead hadn't exactly been very accepting of his own sexuality at the time.
Still, his heart had skipped a beat then just as it still did. There was just a draw to him that Zander couldn't resist. Like they'd met before. Known each other in a different time. As ridiculous as it sounded. "All buttoned up in your clean, nice clothing. I couldn't fathom why you were entertaining some dirty soldier."

Pearce blushed. Also a euphemism. Everything out of Zander's mouth was about sex. Or...maybe it was him and he was just thinking about it as a distraction because even though he normally would have been mortified to even think such things in the company of others, right now, anything was better that what was actually happening. It was more important to have some sort of normalcy in the moment. Not that Zander had ever really cared about how sassy or flirtatious he was in front of others.
The Marquis didn't entirely remembered either. He remembered the scene more visually than anything they had said. Zander had been digustingly attractive. More than he had any right to be. Just like he was right now. And Pearce vividly recalled most of his thoughts revolving around trying to keep those thoughts and feelings to himself, especially because Zander was so young. And hot. And athletic. And his hair had been a bit windswept and his sweaty shirt had been open like it was now and he'd look all the world like a dashing soldier who had gotten lost on his way to the... The book! Right!
"Yes! S-something about fairy tales. You asked me about it and d-d-directions to the library, which only later I realized was a bold faced lie because you couldn't read," he smiled a little more easily, words moving a bit easier in his haste to get them out. "F-fooled me," he added when Zander admitted to not caring about the book. Maybe he hadn't even recognized the cover, but that hardly mattered.
Pearce blushed darkly as the young man professed how handsome and dashing he had been. He swallowed, feeling his chest start to relax ever so faintly. "You were really dirty," he agreed with a teasing smile. "But you were also too dashing for your own good. And you looked lost so..." Okay, so really he had helped because Zander was handsome, but Pearce would have helped anyone else too. Admittedly, he probably wouldn't have lead the way there. Or stayed to talk to him so long. Or invited his sister (and him) to one of his lessons the next day.
He didn't notice the first few leeches. Well, he sort of felt them, but Pearce didn't look down at the woman's touch, focusing instead on his hand in Zander's.

As if were most of what came out of Zanders mouth was a euphemism for something. One might say it was part of his charm. That one would likely be himself. Still, he was as good at talking himself into all sorts of trouble as he was at talking himself out of it. Perhaps he could help talk Pearce out of his current trouble.
He couldn't imagine what the marquis had found attractive about him then. As far as Zander was concerned he'd been a terribly skinny, sickly pale, and overly anxious kid who only joined the military to take care of his sister.
He didn't see the muscle he'd built up at the time. Or how his skin wasn't as pale as he thought it was from how much time he spent in the sun. Of course all his eyes could focus on then was Pearce. His strong but gentle hands clasping that book and the way his suit outlined his frame so well.
"I would have spent hours staring at letters I couldn't recognize if it meant I got to spend time with you." Zander had just started learning to speak Aralorian at the time as it was. The idea of learning how to read and write was the furthest thing from his mind. Still, he had wanted his sister to learn and it was an excuse to get to know the marquis better.
"I can't tell you how hard it was to focus on learning when all I could think about was how soft your lips looked." He murmured as he leaned closer to press a kiss on his cheek.

"You d-did spend hours. Staring at me," he agreed, blushing at his joking admonishment. He had certainly noticed eventually. Though it had taken him a lot longer to realize Zander's attraction to him. He was positive his own had been more than apparent.
Pearce shivered at the mention of his lips and then again as Zander kissed him. The break in eye contact threatened to undo him, however. His hand tightened in Zander's and he swallowed a whimper. He was fine. Nothing had happened. It was just him and Zander in bed and he was shirtless and that was okay. He closed his eyes.
Breathe.
"You're even more at-t-tractive now," he forced, opening his eyes briefly to smile at Zander before he yelped suddenly.
Okay, that one he felt. He was pretty sure he wasn't supposed to normally. It was only the tiniest prick, magnified by the solid lump of fear in his stomach but he still had to fight to control his breathing and not look down, digging his nails into Zander's hand. Pearce shifted on the bed, almost as if he was trying to crawl out of it only he wasn't sure where to go because there was no getting away, he just knew he didn't want to feel more of those nips or imagine more of those...things biting him. Nope nope nope.

Zander had spent hours just staring at Pearce. Watching the way he moved, the way he moved his hair from his face, the way he adjusted his suit jacket, how his eyes twinkled when he laughed. He studied the marquis far more than any work put in front of him. At the time he hadn't be able to see the mans attraction for him and was too afraid to boldly express his own. He wouldn't have had the words to express it at the time even had he been confident enough.
Well, he would have but not in a language the marquis would entirely understand. The way Pearce squeezed his hand made the redhead cup his face with his free one. "Hey, hey furasta, gaol." He muttered softly as he tried to pull the blondes attention back to him. "Anail." His accent came out much heavier than how he normally tried to hide it. The marquis had always seemed to enjoy listening to him speak his native language. He hoped hearing it would distract him enough from the blood sucking little creatures attatched to his body.
Though he didn't feel very attractive he still knew he looked better than he did just a few years ago. "I'd certainly hope I look better. I put a lot of work into this body." He stated playfully as he squeezed Pearces hand gently. Though the man digging his nails into his hand wasn't pleasant he was still happy to deal with it for the mans comfort.
furasta, gaol=easy, love anail=breathe

Pearce attempted to focus on the words but he only understood some and the rest he was just going on Zander's tone and that concern in his eyes and the strength of his hands.
He certainly liked hearing Zander's native tongue but...well, it was mostly because it was hot and attractive and right now, Pearce wasn't really feeling either of those things. Thought he wished he was. Instead of being anxious and a mess. Still, it was some sort of distraction, puzzling out words. He resolved to ask more actively about learning the language. He wasn't sure Zander would be the best teacher but he would be great to practice with and he had to start somewhere.
He tried to breathe in the meantime but that while that was going okay, he kept imagining he could feel more than he did and well, he could sort of feel where the things rested on him and none of it felt pleasant and sure, he had had a bath just yesterday but he wanted another right now, forget how stupid and expensive the thought was.
Pearce didn't let go of Zander's hand, but he did try to scoot away from his side of the bed and toward the far side and around Zander if the boy didn't stop him.
Regardless of whether he did or not, the doctor did. His reached out to gently press his shoulder into the bed. "Relax," he said smoothly. Pearce shivered a little at the contact glancing from her to Zander, imagining he must look incredibly terrified and silly right now but he didn't know what to do.
"I can give him something to relax or sleep if that might help?" She asked quietly of both him and Zander. Pearce blinked at her and wasn't really sure what to say.
