Zander couldn't help but chuckle at the distaste of the new petname. Perhaps he'd have to use it more often then. If just to tease him a little bit.
Dinner had seemed almost like a game. Pushing each other to eat a little more. Even Briella had pulled herself into it. Not that she needed any encouragement to eat like her brother and Pearce. Once they'd finished Zander allowed his sister to run back into the blue room to grab some of her things.
"I'm going to take Whisky out. I'll see you in a bit." He cupped the mans face in his hand and brushed his thumb over his cheek.

Pearce was glad to see Zander eat. And he was glad he himself didn't feel sick after. At least that had been slightly less of an issue recently. It was simply hard to be motivated to eat when he didn't have an appetite. It was honestly just enjoyable to have dinner with the two siblings and enjoy their company, especially when not all of it was spent worrying over him.
Briella was welcome to use the room to her hearts content until it was time for bed. As long as she cleaned up. Of course there were servants for that but responsibility and neatness were good habits.
Speaking of routines. The marquis blinked at Zander. "Out? What?" He caught Zander's wrist gently. After everything they had talked about about taking care of himself? Yes, yes, the dog had a routine too and needed exercise but anyone could walk the dog. Only Zander could rest himself. "What did I say about resting?" His tone was honest to god confused and incredulous. He was certain he had told the boy as much. "Zander, You need to rest," he reaffirmed. "Let one of the servants walk Whisky."
It dawned on him that maybe he was going about this the wrong way. He probably needed to give Zander an incentive not to do anything...but he wasn't really sure what.

Zander hated breaking his routine. Once something was added to his schedule it was meticulously kept up even to his own detriment. Breaking his routine made the redhead fidgety. It made him panicky as he felt as if he absolutely needed to do things he was set to or his world might crumble around him. Logically speaking he knew that was ridiculous.
Yes he needed to rest. Yes anyone could walk the dog. But it was his job. "I promised I'd take off to rest tomorrow." His body was sore and tired and he did want to sit down but it felt wrong. Zander fidgeted uncomfortably and looked over to Whisky who had padded into the room. Ready for his evening walk.
There wasn't really a solid reason he could give as to why he felt like he needed to be the one to walk Whisky. Other than he just felt like he needed to. "I can do it." Briella chimed in as she walked back into the room with an arm full of papers.
"I know the way you take him at night and Mr. Lockheed is right." Betrayed by his own blood. Zander fidgeted again for a moment before he let out a small huff of defeat. "Fine. Take one of the servants with you and come right back." The blonde girl nodded as she readjusted all the papers into one arm.

Pearce too found comfort in routine, or at least in things he was used to over new things. He understood it was stressful for his boyfriend, but he wasn't about to let the boy off the hook. He knew ways to make the young man relax, as it were, so that wasn't the issue. The issue was convincing him to go along willingly. The marquis wasn't going to force him, that was for sure. He could only insist and be concerned and hope Zander saw reason. It did not even occur to the man to do anything to force him.
He glanced over at the dog, distracted for a moment, attempting to suggest he might walk the dog himself if only Zander would stay here when Briella beat him to it. He smiled over at the girl appreciatively. It was clear she cared about her brother. Pearce nodded as the young man agreed and would have suggested she take a servant or one of the gate guards with her. "Thank you, Briella. Your sister is quite the responsible young woman, you know," he added with a smile. Okay, she was still a little young for 'woman' to be applicable, but he meant it warmly. He was quite proud of the girl. And just as concerned for her safety.
"Take Harris. The gate guard and carriage driver?" He said suggestively, hoping Briella remembered him. She met him a few times. He didn't talk very much but he was a reliable sort.
Pearce folded his arms and looked over at Zander reassuringly. "Now, we can sit in the courtyard if you like. But you will sit and rest." At least that way Zander could watch his sister for a time and outside would sort of simulate some part of the man's routine.

The idea of leaving Briella alone with men made him beyond anxious. It had taken a year of getting to know Pearce just for him to feel comfortable with her being alone with him. Still, he knew most of the guards and servants on a fairly personal level. He was also certain they all respected Pearce and their jobs enough to not do anything to hurt his sister. It didn't stop the small ball of anxiety forming in his stomach at the idea of Briella walking with a man at night. Even still on the property.
Briella had become much more mature and responsible over the years. Especially since they'd left Teronna. Though that was to be expected since she'd only been seven then. It was a bittersweet reminder of just how quickly she'd grow up and eventually not need him anymore. The mention of Harris seemed to make her pause in thought for a moment as she tried to remember who that was. "Oh, him! Okay." The blonde girl set her papers down and whistled for Whisky to follow her as she went to get his leash.
The idea of sitting in the courtyard did sound nice. If just to get outside and keep some kind of watch over his sister. "Alright, alright." He put his hands up in defeat with a chuckle before sighing softly. "You're the man of the house after all." He teased before offering his hand to Pearce.

Pearce nodded, though he couldn't conceal the blush at being called "man of the house" by his boyfriend. He sort of liked it, but didn't entirely feel he deserved that sort of respect. He wanted it but...
"Um, yes. Right," he said, trying to sound convinced as he took Zander's hand and helped him up from the table. They followed a little ways after Briella and Whisky, at least as far as the courtyard. Pearce didn't say very much, embarrassed by quite a few moments of the evening and a little hesitant to make anymore missteps. Once outside, he pulled out a chair for Zander at the woven iron table in a mini display of his 'man of the house' title and all the chivalry that went with it.

Zander kept a close eye on his sister as she seemed to proudly make her way out of the manor with Whisky trotting along next to her. He hadn't realized how his little comment had made Pearce feel. More concerned about his sisters safety as she found Harris. Watching her smile sweetly up at him there was some some hesitation in her stance. A shyness to her demeanor. It made the redhead want to step forward if just to make her feel better.
Still, Briella looked over at her brother and flashed him a confident smile. As Pearce pulled out the chair for him Zander reluctantly sat down. He reached out for the marquis hand for comfort. Looking for some kind of hold to keep him in his seat before he ran over to his sister. Sure he might be a bit over protective sometimes but she was all he had left.
He took a deep breath and let his eyes drift over to his boyfriend. "You're so sweet to me." He stated as he pressed affectionate kisses against the mans knuckles.

The marquis was just as nervous for Briella. Well, more nervous because Zander was. Only he was still very much distracted and regardless, wanted to reassure his boyfriend that the girl would be fine.
Pearce smiled encouragingly between the siblings. He had been subject to a very strict upbringing himself and was therefore on the other end of the spectrum. He might worry just as much as Zander, but he preferred to let other's have their own freedom. It came down to trust. He had quite a lot of that in people. In those he knew and cared about and even in strangers. It was all rather remarkable he felt that way, given his personal history.
And anyway, she would barely be on the edge of the property and it was rather well lit and Pearce himself found Harris quite reasonable and easy to get along with.
Pearce flashed Zander an easy smile as he settled a chair next to him. Holding hands was comforting but not nearly enough. The marquis settled his other arm around the back of Zander's chair, rubbing his shoulder gently and acting as a subtle reminded to stay seated.
The young man's comment caught him a bit off guard. He turned to look back at Zander a bit hesitantly, but the smile was genuine. "I can't help it. I like you. Just a little," he teased with a chuckle. He was still worried about the incident at training and distracted by how he was going to get Zander to behave for an entire day tomorrow. He would have to ask Briella for help in the morning.

The comment made him snort as he leaned into the marquis touch. Having the man rubbing his shoulder did assist in keeping the redhead in his seat. "You like me? Aren't we moving a bit fast?" He teased with a grin. Zander turned his attention to watch a flash of wavy blonde hair moving in the distance. She seemed alright enough but he couldn't get past the little ball of anxiety resting in his stomach.
He ran his thumb idly over the back of Pearces hand to calm himself. "So do you have any actual plans tomorrow if I'm going to be spending all day relaxing?" Zander was already figuring out ways to do just about anything but relaxing. Of course the idea of spending the day with his boyfriend was appealing. But so was ever so slightly getting under his skin. If just for a little fun. With a grin he leaned in for a kiss as a strong gust of wind blew over the manor. Rustling the trees and bushes around them.

Pearce blushed just a little. They jad long since moved passed 'like' of course but hearing Zander match his own teasing still made him a little embarrassed to be found out so quickly. "Yes, well..." he stumbled over the words and trailed off, placing a fleeting kiss on the young man's cheek.
He shook his head. Not yet. Besides the teaching anyway, but that would only be for two hours. "Something on your mind?" Probably how to strain himself more and not rest. The marquis raised an eyebrow at the sudden breeze. He knew what that meant most of the time around the redhead. Of course it could also just be a random breeze and he was too shy to say anything anyway. At least until it was accompanied with a kiss. "Definitely something on your mind," he added quickly. "Something that isn't synonymous with resting," his said with a cautionary tone, despite the smile on his features.
It was tempting but Pearce wasn't sure he wanted to embarrass himself two nights in a row.

"Absolutely nothing on my mind." He teased with a purr. There were in fact quite a few things on his mind. That in fact did not including resting. Though he wouldn't be opposed to some well deserved rest afterwards. The suggestion however was enough to make him snicker softly. "You caught me." The redhead stated with a playful grin.
"I'm sure I could do some good resting after." The wind kicked up a bit as he spoke making him chuckle to himself. Of course while he had the energy he wasn't sure he had the strength in him. Not at the moment at least. Though it would appear the weather would always betray him. The sound of Whisky barking pulled his attention from the marquis for the moment.
His attention darted over to find his sister but he couldn't see the familiar blonde hair. Out of instinct Zander shot out of his chair only to buckle a bit in pain. He hissed and grit his teeth against the pain but his eyes still searched for his sister. "Briella!" There was a waver of concern in his voice as he called her name. The girl jumped up to see her brother over the hedge.
"I'm okay!"

The marquis desperstely needed to come up with something or he was in danger of being overruled on their afternoon plans. "And before and during because you won't be doing anything of the sort. Not with me, anyway." He was tired anyway, he told himself. And if it was one way to keep Zander from hurting hinself further it wasn't much of a sacrifice.
He started at Zander's sudden movement, wincing in sympathy for the young man. "Easy, I am sure she is alright," he said soothingly, though he did look in the direction of the barking. Pearce found Zander's protective nature quite admirable, even if he wished the boy would sit still.
"See?" He said gently. "Please sit down," he encouraged, tugging his arm softly. "And once she returns, I think it is time we go to bed."

Hearing his sister was alright didn't settle his nerves right away. Still, he chewed his lip nervously and lowered himself back into his seat. Zander took a deep breath as he pressed his hand over his stitches with a wince. The suggestion for them to go to bed once his sister was back made him chuckle a bit. "Bed already? Someone is impatient." He tried to remain teasing if just to put Pearces mind at ease.
Soon enough his sister did return with Whisky trotting next to her and Harris close behind. It took all of the redheads will not to get out of his chair again to check on her. Though as she stepped closer it appeared she had a scrape on her knee. "I tripped over Whiskys leash." She explained with an easy smile. He ran his hand over her hair with a shake of his head. The pup wagged his tail as he leaped up to get affection from the redhead as well.
Zander pet the dog before standing up from his chair again. Slower this time. "Ready to head inside?"

It was quite possible Pearce was too tired to be embarrassed by Zander's teasing. "Impatient to sleep, yes," he said, stifling a yawn. He more than understood Zander's implication, he very much remembered how much the term 'impatient' had come up the night before, but right now, he wasn't in the mood. Zander might make him feel safe and comfortable, but he was too distracted and too tired for sex or even teasing.
Of course, then he started to feel bad for how excited Zander clearly was. He just wanted to rest and hoped Zander did too.
Pearce stood and smiled at Briella before quickly flicking his gaze to Harris. He gave the man a nod of appreciation and dismissal. "Thank you, Harris. Have a good night." The driver smiled faintly and then stepped away to make his own way home. The marquis instinctively looked back to Briella as she mentioned tripping over the least and had to forcefully prevent himself from looking down at her knees. Probably nothing, since Zander would be panicking, but best not to invite anything.
Arms loosely wrapped around himself, would trail after the siblings, not about to let Zander get carried away with anything and honestly in need of the young man's company. Even when the redhead was nervous or the cause of the blonde's anxiety, Zander's presence was still reassuring for Pearce.

No matter how much resting he may have needed to do Zander still needed to be the one to put his sister to bed. No one else would be allowed to do that and as mature as she may have gotten he still didn't trust her to go to bed on her own. It also wasn't has intensive to simply brush his sisters hair and put her into bed. The redhead left Whisky in the bed with his sister before following his boyfriend back to the bedroom.
Once there he slowly removed his shirt with a hiss. Now, later in the day, his bruises appeared a bit darker though there were already signs of soft yellowing around the edges of a few. Zander turned his back to Pearce as he unwrapped the bandages around his chest. There was luckily still no bleeding but he wanted to check on his stitches. The area around the slash was a bit bruised as well but not nearly as bad as he'd expected.
"Primrose did a damn good job." He muttered mostly to himself.
