[ALEXANDRIA] She had slept soundly the entire night. Somehow, Aric had fended off her typical nightmares, and she had been able to rest. When the sunlight began to pour into the window, Alexandria stirred, instantly feeling Aric's body against hers. She grinned as she stretched her limbs before opening her eyes to see him. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach as she remembered that it was their wedding day. Fingers moved to brush against Aric's face and she pressed her lips into his before whispering. "Aric... Wake up..." [d]
[ARIC] He had slept soundly, barely stirring throughout the entire night, keeping her secure and warm against him, so naturally as though he had already done it a hundred times over. It was only at the feeling of her lips and her whispered words did the prince finally begin to awaken. Slowly, dark eyes opened just enough to find her lovely face right there in front of him...and he was very quick to remember that she was also very beautifully nude. He grinned. "Good morning." [d]
[ALEXANDRIA] "Good morning," she whispered back to him, smiling when she saw that grin of his. She gave him another quick kiss. "Happy wedding day..." She smirked. "Your last chance to back out..." Her fingers lightly traced over his chest as she laid there with him, not wanting to get out of the bed, not wanting to start the day. She propped herself up slightly and kissed his neck, teasing him. [d]
[ARIC] "If I don't make it-" he began, very slowly waking up more. "It's because I refused to get out of this bed." His voice was playful and still husky from sleep as he rolled over to push her completely onto her back; tickling her neck and shoulders with his lips as she had just been doing to him. [d]
[ALEXANDRIA] She grinned, a loud, startled laugh escaping her as he rolled her onto her back and attacked her neck with kisses. She nudged him and grinned, "Stop that... Or we might have to go for round two..." Another laugh escaped her, "And then we both won't make it to our own wedding." [d]
[ARIC] There came an exaggerated sigh as she was saying what he already knew, but he was slow to roll away from her and once more over onto his back. He was thoroughly amused with himself, chuckling lowly before the sharp sound of someone knocking on the door completely startled him awake. He turned to regard Alexandria quickly before he was climbing from that bed to try and quickly dress, "I guess it's a little later than we thought..." [d]
[ALEXANDRIA] At the sound of the knock, she quickly sat up and glanced at him, laughing slightly. "I guess so.." She climbed out of bed, and called out towards the door. "Just a moment." She was moving to her vanity to grab her robe, draping it over herself and tying it closed, but not before her eyes wandered over to where Aric was, admiring him once more before he covered himself up. She smiled, walking over to him to stop whatever he was doing and planted a gentle but lingering kiss to his lips, whispering into them when she pulled away. "I will see you at the ceremony." She kissed him again and grinned, "Save your energy... I might want you again, tonight..." [d]
[ARIC] Trying to balance on one leg, he slipped into his second boot, halfway to buttoning up that shirt when she came over to kiss him. It had him not bother with the rest as he grabbed her face, drawing her face back to him after she grinned and murmured those words. "Count on it," he spoke against her mouth, then had to force himself away before the ladies on the other side of the door grew more impatient. "I love you," he added before rushing to the door to fling it open. He was met with the sight of two other women and Cassandra. "Morning, ladies," he grinned. "Cousin." He added nonchalantly before slipping passed them and down the hall.
[CASSANDRA] She was getting very impatient, but hearing Alexandria's words, she held herself back from knocking again. What she didn't expect was to see Aric opening that door, looking tired and...disheveled. All three ladies stared wide-eyed at him, and she was turning shocked eyes to the queen when she finally entered the room. "Well now..." A grin was slowly creeping onto her face. [d]
[ALEXANDRIA] Another grin formed on her lips, and she laughed as Aric admitted he was counting on...well, he didn't say which he was counting on--seeing her at the ceremony, or to her wanting him again. Perhaps he meant both. She kissed him and pushed him towards the door. What she hadn't expected was Cassandra to be there. Suddenly, she felt embarrassed--but not sorry. She laughed, turning away from the door to make herself busy so she wouldn't have to talk about it. After Aric left and the ladies walked in, Alexandria just grinned, "good morning!" [d]
[CASSANDRA] The queen shouldn't feel embarrassed...but Cassandra was still very surprised. Still, the grin was creasing along her lips as she noted Alexandria's robed form, refraining from saying anything lest it was inappropriate, but the other two women might giggle and gossip. "So..." she said, looming in closer. "Are you ready for today?" Her smile was warm now, rushing on over to the wardrobe in search of that particular, lovely dress. [d]
[ALEXANDRIA] Hands were placed on her hips as she turned to regard Cassandra, a small smile on her lips. "A little nervous, but yes." She watched as she moved to her wardrobe to pull the dress out that they had chosen together. While Cassandra busied herself with getting her dress, she turned to the other ladies and questioned them if they could draw her a bath so she could wash. The ladies scurried off to get the bath ready for the queen. Her gaze fell to Cassandra again and she offered her a smile. "Thank you for coming to help me get ready." [d]
[CASSANDRA] "Well-" she said, drawing that dress out and taking a moment to admire it. She carried it to the bed carefully draped in her arms before lying it out. "You don't have to worry about a thing except show up." Green eyes alighted upon the queen and she smiled. Everything was already taken care of. "I'm always happy to. Truly." She wasn't just saying that to be nice. Cassandra enjoyed her company. [d]
[ALEXANDRIA] She watched Cassandra lay her dress out and smiled, "Well that's a relief..." she laughed. Truthfully Alexandria had been dreading planning and getting everything ready, and Cassandra had done everything for her. She was excited to see how everything looked and came together. Alexandria moved over to her and took her hand. "Truthfully, I am petrified of Edward... and something going wrong and him changing his mind again or something. " She sighed and let go of her hand. The ladies were returning and began to set up and get the bath ready for the queen. Alexandria glanced back to Cassandra and forced a smile. "I'm sure everything will be fine, though." [d]
[CASSANDRA] When Alexandria took her hand, her smile faltered just a little bit. Edward was a bit of a mystery sometimes, so the queen's Worry was a valid one. Cass had her own worries regarding the man, more than usual. But today wasn't about that. She wasn't going to be selfish like that. "It will," she reassured her. "It has to be. You've already come this far." A pause, she looked thoughtful. "That, and he already signed the new treaty." [d]
[ALEXANDRIA] She gave a nod to Cassandra, smiling slightly. For some reason, Alexandria just had this bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. Like Aric, it seemed anytime she found happiness, something bad happened. And right now, she was beyond elated, she just sensed it would go downhill fast. She sighed and tried to brush that feeling off. To change the subject, she flashed her hand to Cassandra, showing her the ring from Aric. "He gave this to me yesterday. Proposed to me...as if we had the choice." She grinned widely and admired the ring herself for a moment. [d]
[CASSANDRA] Tensions were probably high all around, to be honest. Everyone was already worrying about something, and today was supposed to solidify the alliance between Aralore and Tresteria. It took a lot to get here, and this wedding almost didn't happen...so it had to go smoothly. Cassandra wasn't sure if her cousin would try and back out again, after all that happened, but there was always that chance. A small chance that she would not voice to the queen now. Alexandria was changing the subject with a good one, because the moment she flashed her hand, she saw that beautiful sapphire glinting on her finger. Green eyes widened and she was smiling from ear to ear, snagging her hand for closer inspection. She was suddenly awed, admiring her cousin for this thoughtful gift. He technically hadn't needed to, but to know that he did, made everything all that more special. "Oh my, Alexandria...it's beautiful." The other two girls were peering over while they filled the queen's bath. Cass squeezed her hand, speaking quietly, "See? Your missing piece." [d]
[ALEXANDRIA] Her smile widened at Cassandra's reaction, and she nodded. A small laugh escaped her when she reiterated that Aric was her missing piece. "Perhaps... I had also got him a ring with silver and blue metal.. And was planning on giving it to him yesterday, too..." She laughed at the irony of it all. They both had the same thought without even hinting or talking about it. One of the ladies came over to take a look at her ring and told her the bath was ready for her. Alexandria nodded and made her way over to the tub, removing her robe before climbing into the water. [d]
[CASSANDRA] It was taking a lot for her not to get overly excited, but...how could she not? Those two were far too cute together at this point, that Cass wanted to hope beyond all hope that everything went smoothly today. Aric was finally happy again and deserved to be so...just as the queen did. Both had gone through so much before meeting each other- one day of happiness was well needed. Alexandria's words only solidified what Cassandra had meant the other day, and she giggled quietly to herself. Once the queen was in her bath, she took it upon herself to roll up those sleeves and help wash her hair. Perhaps the other two ladies hadn't noticed it, but the Duchess certainly spotted that red mark along the queen's collarbone, near her shoulder. She leaned forward to whisper, "It's a good thing your dress will cover that love bite..." She couldn't help herself. [d]
[ALEXANDRIA] Perhaps one day, Aric and Alexandria could be happy and remain so. She only hoped they could continue to help each other out to make this so.
She slipped into the water, sighing at how good the warm water felt on her skin. She had leaned her head against the tub wall as Cassandra started washing her hair, eyes closed. That is until Cassandra whispered about the red mark near her shoulder. She instantly began blushing, not knowing that Aric had left a mark on her. She had been so absorbed in all the sensations she had been feeling, she didn't notice. She turned her gaze to her shoulder, as if trying to see the mark herself, and all she could do was laugh, placing her hands over her face as if trying to hide that blush. [d]
[CASSANDRA] Happiness was so often difficult to come by, and not everyone was blessed to find it...or let alone hold onto it. Lathering up the soap into that ebon hair, she simply giggled again quietly. She would not press any further, but it was so obvious on the queen's pale skin that she had to point it out. She should be fortunate that she didn't have to live in high-collared dresses for a couple of weeks. "I'm very happy for you," she finally said after a moment. "And you've made my cousin very happy. You never saw him at his worst, but I did...and it was worrisome." Cassandra didn't mean to bring the mood down, but she was trying to make a point. [d]
ALEXANDRIA] She was thinking about the night, Aric kissing her neck and touching her. It was bringing another blush to her cheeks. Cassandra's voice broke her thoughts, and she smiled for a brief moment until she brought up Aric being at his worst. She frowned before asking a question she wasn't sure she wanted to imagine. Though Aric had heard of Alexandria at her worst. "What was he like?" She knew from the countless number of times he had told her that he had been in a very dark place and she had pulled him from it. She rubbed the water up and down her arms, sighing quietly. She would do all she could to make sure she could keep Aric happy. She certainly made him happy last night Perhaps. [d]
[CASSANDRA] Maybe this wasn't her story to tell, or if it was even a good story to tell on their wedding day...but then again, perhaps it was. It would just further express how different and happy he was now. With a gentle sigh, she began to rinse the soap from the queen's hair, and thought about how to explain. "He just...wasn't himself anymore. Of course, he never got along with Edward terribly much, but he was purposely trying to get on his bad side...just because. And that was if he decided to leave his chambers. He'd even shut me out for awhile." Shaking her head, she drew back to dry her hands. "He was miserable, Alexandria. He wanted to wither away, or go charging off into some war in hopes a sword would bring him death. He just...had no purpose." [d]
[ALEXANDRIA] She remained quiet, listening to Cassandra as she explained how Aric used to be before he came to Aralore. She had seen Aric perhaps at the tail end of his misery. Before they had gotten close. She had seen the emptiness in his eyes. She sighed quietly, sitting up and leaning her chest into her bent knees. She wrapped her arms around her knees, and swirled her fingers in the water, as she thought. "Well..." She spoke, breaking the silence that had lingered. "I will do whatever I can to make him happy... To give him purpose..." And she truly meant that. [d]
[CASSANDRA] The gentlest smile curled up a corner of her mouth after Alexandria spoke, and she would move to kneel down beside that tub, fingers curling over the edge. She flicked a little bit of water into the queen's face in an attempt to lighten the mood she accidentally brought down. "But, you already have. Truly. And today will only make things far better." [d]
[ALEXANDRIA] She held her hand up to try and block that splash, laughing as she had failed. Her hand raised up to brush the water out of her face, only to make it worse from her wet hand. She laughed again and splashed Cassandra back. A soft sigh escaped her lips. "I am glad I have made him happy. He has made me happy, too." She smiled, resting the side of her face on her knees. "And I think he liked those scents you gave me... Are there any others I could.." She hesitated a moment, a smirk growing on her lips. "..try?" [d]
[CASSANDRA] She giggled as the light droplets of water splashed her face. It was a good thing she hadn't gotten ready for the day! At Alexandria's timid question, she fell silent for a brief moment. Well, well...seemed like those oils did help. Lips curled into a sly smirk. "Oh yes. I can bring you more whenever you'd like." She wasn't sure if she meant now, or...later. "And when you find one or a blend you truly like, you stick with it...so that whenever he smells that scent, he'll immediately think of you." Cassandra gave her a small wink. [d]
[ALEXANDRIA] She laughed again at Cassandra's last remark, wondering if Aric had liked the scent or not. He had not commented on it, so she was wondering if she should...experiment with several. She giggled slightly at the thought and nodded. "Thank you." She responded. Quietly, she took hold of the sponge and began wiping the soap all along her skin. When she finished, she sank into the water to rinse off the soap. A nervous sigh escaped her lips. It was time to get ready for the wedding, she didn't know why she felt so nervous. [d]
[CASSANDRA] One might think she was some love guru, but that would be an amusing thought...considering her own love life was outright confusing. As Alexandria finished bathing, Cassandra went to fetch a clean shift for her to wear. They still had hours to get ready, but would need to travel to the cliffs for the actual ceremony. [d]
[ARIC] He had slept soundly, barely stirring throughout the entire night, keeping her secure and warm against him, so naturally as though he had already done it a hundred times over.
