Face Claim: Hera Hilmar
Player: Aquila
CHARACTER NAME: Amalia Fracassi
BIRTHDATE: June 2nd
AGE: 32
HOMELAND (Which land were they born?): Noistar
CURRENT RESIDENCE (Which land in Elysium will they live?): Merine, Noistar
APPEARANCE (General info, height/weight, eye/hair color, build, etc.): Amalia stands above average for a woman (5’7) and has a thin, slender frame. She has milk-white skin that looks like porcelain, bright blue eyes, and reddish-brown colored hair. Once upon a time, she was probably considered one of the prettiest girls in Merine, and she still might be considered that if it weren’t for the brutal scars that cover half her face. The left side of her jaw has a jagged, almost crooked scar, starting at the edge of her jawline and chin before it twists upward in a diagonal direction. It breaks off and then continues across her cheekbone. The scars are deep, pulling at her skin and puckering it in some areas, showing her face had to be stitched back together. Part of the upper left shell of her ear is also missing. She hides her ear with her hair easily, and if she wraps it a certain way you can’t tell if she wears it up.
The scars don’t end there; they go across her shoulders and part of her chest and left side. Some are deeper than others, others are small and all but faded, but it’s clear Amalia survived something tragic.
Because of her “deformity”, it’s rare to ever see Amalia smile. Before she received her scars, it was rare to not ever see a smile on her face, but her life has hardened her. She tends to dress like most sailors; long pants, practical shirts, and boots, the only difference is she also wears a long coat that ends about her mid-calf and the patches that mark her as a Navel Leuitentent on the outer parts of her sleeves. The most notable thing she wears is a bright red scarf, no matter the season. She wears the scarf tightly around the lower half of her face, tying it so it stays in place at the base of her neck. She wears the scarf to hide the scars for other people’s benefit than her own, this way she deals with less staring.
On some occurrences (particularly in heavily populated areas) you might notice that Amalia turns her head a particular way, or she’ll stand more off to one side of you.

MILITARY EXPERIENCE:
1.Describe the character’s skill, experience, training, etc.: Amalia has been a member of the Marinai for the last 12 years. Deciding to stay in after her three years of mandated service.
2.When/what age did the character enter the military?: 20
3.Character’s strengths and weaknesses? (Must have at least one of each.):
Strengths: Exceptional Leadership qualities, willingness to go that extra mile. Has a “can-do” attitude and jumps in without question.
Weaknesses: Very abrasive with orders and can come across as very cold. Has been known to have a temper that she acts on without thinking sometimes. As she climbed in ranks she learned how to better control her anger management. Her major weakness is due to the attack that caused her to be deaf in one ear, and has taken to having to learn to read crew members lips quickly to compensate.
4.Any accomplishments, other notable traits regarding military career?: On a routine scouting mission, the fleet she was a part of at the time she was a lower officer, had become under attack by pirates foolish enough to attack the Marinai Vessel. When the pirates attempted to board, the Marinai fought back. The small scouting vessel was not prepared by the number of pirates and realized they were outnumbered. Luckily, or not so luckily for some, a fire had broken out on the pirate’s ship. The ammunition and powder kegs they had below their hull, soon caught flame, and at the first sign of the explosions that took place, Amalia threw herself in the line of fire to protect the Marinai commander just as an explosion went off next to where they were fleeing. Several lives were lost, both Marinai and pirate from the initial attack. The marinai however were able to flee the area to safety. The Pirates weren't so lucky. Once Amalia had awoken several days later she’d been dubbed a hero for saving the commander’s life at the risk of her own, and she received a promotion. The downside? She was left permanently maimed and deaf in one ear from the explosion.
5.Which division? (Refer to each kingdom's division pages): Marinai Lieutenant
SOCIETAL TITLE:
Title: Lieutenant
Source of wealth: Marinai
Estate Name (if applicable): N/A
GRAMARYE GIFT (if any): N/A
PERSONALITY: Like anyone from Merine, Amalia is intimidating, by aura alone. She’s not the tallest or biggest Merinian, but she has her quick wit and a rather abrasive tone she uses. She’s extremely hard-working, and despite her rather prickly personality, she cares about her crewmates. If any of them needed help she’d do it without a second thought, however, she’d be lecturing you the entire about it and grumbling under her breath. Especially if it was a dangerous situation.
She can be a bit cold upon first meeting her until you can show your worth or prove yourself. She doesn’t tolerate laziness and hates tardiness. Amalia has a very “take action” attitude, and is seriously a majority of the time. She used to joke around with her crewmates, and bond with them, really get to know them. The habit has changed since the attack several years ago, where tends to sit off to the side of the socializing, only pipping up when she feels the need to voice her opinion or throw out a dry-humored joke. Mostly, she just sticks to herself and broods in a corner so she can get some peace and quiet.
It should be known that the Amalia now is a completely different person than the one before her accident. That Amalia was always smiling, laughing, or trying to get people to laugh. There was a charm to her that made her want people to like her. A habit from her brothel days that she hadn’t quite broken yet. She had been a woman that was desperate to make a better life for herself than to continue to be a whore, and the Marinai gave her that.
And in her eyes, they also took it away. She’s a very angry individual, who is incredibly self-conscious about her “deformities”. She’s oftentimes nicknamed “Red”, from the red scarf she wears around the lower section of her face to hide her scars. She doesn’t want to make people uncomfortable when they look at her, or for people to stare, call her names, what have you. The members of the L'imperatrice are different to an extent. Her crew members are her family even if she keeps them at arm’s length, and they’re the ones that know her story, and the reason behind her scars. She doesn’t wear the scarf up around her face around them as much as she would back at home in Noistar.
Another thing Amalia struggles with, and what most people don’t realize, is she’s half deaf. Having lost her hearing in her scarred ear from the sound of the explosion. It started out small, but by the third day of having woken up from the attack, Amalia had completely lost her hearing in that ear. She’s had to learn to adapt and has taken to reading people’s lips with she talks to them, or angling her good ear a certain way so she can hear better. She hates crowds, as it’s overwhelming, and she hates not being able to have two working ears to hear all the noises around her.
HISTORY:
- Amalia was born to a poor family in Merine
- Her father was a sailor that was lost at sea before she was born, while her mother was a washerwoman trying to make ends meet.
- Her mother soon became ill and died of Influenza When Amalia was 12 years old.
- She spent 12 years living on the streets until at the age of 14, and seeing no other choice, she became a prostitute.
- She survived as a prostitute for 6 years until she was called to do her mandatory military service.
- Seeing it at her way out of a life she didn’t want, Amalia stayed and became a member of the Marinai, where she finally felt like she could be her true self and not have to put on an act, to ensure she had money to survive.
- In the following years, Amalia was happy, experiencing the joys of hard work and the rewards it brought as she started to climb in ranks.
- Five years ago, Amalia’s scouting vessel experienced a pirate attack that left her permanently maimed and deaf in one ear. She was incredibly lucky to be alive. It was at that point her life had changed. Gone was the woman from before, and in its place a woman scarred with the cruelty of the world. Having overheard several crewmates call her “undesirable” now because of her imperfections, has turned her cold.
- She’s even more hard-working than she was before the attack, and the Amalia of today is now a naval lieutenant, helping her Scouting commander sail with an iron fist.

Which Character Tier will you be placing them in?: Tier 3
Why will they belong in this Tier?:
Amalia is away at sea a lot of the time unless she's on shore leave. When she is home, she tends to stick to just Merine and isn't one to strike up a conversation with strangers first. She can appear very cold or uninterested within the first few moments of meeting her.
