PERSONALITY: Mazarine is the definition of a wild and free spirit. She goes wherever the road takes her, and is unapologetic about it. She cares a great deal about people and is very passionate about art and creativity. Everything has a story, and she wants to read and see about it. Finding beauty in nearly everything. In fact, she deeply adores and loves Noistar and it’s people. What they’re capable of, and how far they’ve come.
This is one of the many reasons why she was elected to join the L’Ordine. There is nothing Mazarine loves more than people, and nothing she despises more. A bit of a double-edged sword, she tries to find the good in everyone, but if nothing can be found… Then you've either lost a powerful ally, or made an enemy you did not want.
Mazarine is a friend to all, unless she sees you more as a nuisance or an enemy. A bit of a trickster, Maz has mischievous tendencies and often goes looking for trouble simply because she’s bored. She enjoys dancing at the Corte Artigiana, and hosting parties at her gallery. Her favorite pastime is finding new artists to host at her Gallery. She’s often found carrying one of her Tarot decks with her, and oftentimes can be found shuffling it with a contemplative look on her face.
She prides herself on being a good judge of character and can be outspoken. She’s willing to make the tough calls, but also willing to give the shirt off her back to someone in need. She enjoys taking walks along her district, and visiting the various classes, seeing what she can do to help.
A bit of a spitfire, one should tread carefully on being on the receiving end of Maz’s temper. She’s incredibly stubborn and refuses to apologize for anything unless she knows she’s in the wrong. She works hard to be the voice of her people.
HISTORY:
Mazarine is the only daughter of a scholar and an artisan. Her Father, Tommaso, was nothing more then a poor artist barely scraping by. He made beautiful paintings but couldn’t afford the pigment he needed to make his paint, much less feed himself. He was lucky that the people of Creare took care of their own, and helped out when they could. Allowing him to just survive until he could sell his next painting. It was by a stroke of luck that he met his future muse. A woman by the name of Lucrezia Marchini had been walking in the streets of Venitzia while Tommaso was walking back from the Mercato district.
The two hadn’t been paying attention to where they were walking when they bumped into each other on accident. Lucrezia’s books went flying, as did Tomasso’s canvas, and the two worked together to gather up their belongings and return them to their prospective owners. Only when their eyes met, did Tommaso knew he’d found the only thing he ever wanted to paint again, and it was her.
It took some persuasion of course. Lucretzia needed some persuasion, as she was a scholar, who would not put up with the boyish charms of the insistent painter. A man who was barely making it by, and who promised to capture pure beauty and extravagance. All he wanted was one painting.
Eventually, she caved, unable to resist his endearing charm, and over the next few weeks, Tommaso painted Lucrezia the way he saw her. Strikingly beautiful that rivaled even Cleopatra. A goddess in her own right. The two grew closer during those weeks, and it wasn’t long before the painting was finished, and once it was done, it was time to say good bye. Only, the two never did, and their romance blossomed on that Kupala Notte.
The only problem? The Machini’s did not approve of Tommaso. Sure he was talented, but he could not support Lucrezia or give her mind the stimulation it needed, so they said. Despite this, the two fought to be together, and it wasn’t until Lucrezia fell pregnant that her family finally stopped in its efforts to keep them apart. Still, they would not accept him.
So Lucrezia disowned her own family. Separating herself from them. If they couldn’t accept Tommaso and her child, she would leave. The two struggled at first, but Lucrezia was a smart woman. Using her wits and knowledge she figured out how to budget the money they could make off Tommaso’s paintings. She was also able to keep her job at the museum, and by the time they welcomed their baby girl Mazarine into the world, the little family had started its new beginning.
Tommaso finally made a name for himself, and soon became a sought-after artist, while Lucrezia continued her work as a curator. Mazarine grew up in a home full of love and support, and her father made sure she realized and understood where she came from. That artists could make it if they had the right support and the right people to believe in them. It was through her father’s teachings of the Creare district that Mazarine’s love for it bloomed. She learned her education through her mother and knew the history of Noistar and its beginnings.
Mazarine grew into the intelligent woman she is today, that understood hardship and how to overcome it. When she was finally able to leave home, and after she did her military service, she pathed her own path. Living like her father had in the beginning and refusing her parent’s aid. She made her own life as a dancer and soon took up her Tarot. Having a natural knack at sensing peoples aura’s and seeing a person’s value. She gained a lot of people’s respect this way, and eventually, she was met with an opportunity at a party she was dancing at one night.
That night changed her life for the better, as she met the person who would leave her gallery building to her. Hard trials came soon after, and the Exemplar of the Creare had overstayed his welcome. Insisting that the artisans had to take a cut in pay to fund something or another. The people weren’t having it, and Mazarine was right there along with them. To her surprise, someone had suggested her as the new Exemplar. It spread like wildfire and before she knew it, she had become the new elected Exemplar.
A role she hadn’t been expecting but had humbly accepted nonetheless. With the role came more wealth and power. She’s done her best to help the people in her district. She’s held the role of Exemplar for the past five years, and so far no one has had any complaints. During those five years, Mazarine has opened her Gallery, La Corte del Mago, and has given new artists a chance to have the support they need to support themselves. Just like her father had. She’s all about empowering her people even more, and giving them someone who believes in them, just as much as they believe in her.
