. NOISTARIAN MILITARY and PROFESSIONS .
All citizens participate in the military part time for 3 years as part of their commitment to the nation. This begins at age 20, when they are considered an adult. The 3 years are spent learning discipline, basic combat, basic swordsmanship, and basic first aid. Citizens who do not continue in the military will not be extremely skilled fighters, but they know the basics in case they are called on to defend their home.
Being a small cluster of islands, the majority of Noistar’s military is their supreme naval fleet. These are the trained seamen and naval officers that are well versed in naval combat. They excel at speed more than firepower, and pride themselves on their wits when it comes to battle at sea. If an enemy sets foot on Noistar, then they’ve failed in their mission. There are always a number of scouting vessels in the waters at all times.
Since the republic is the smallest land in Elysium, their naval fleet isn't as large as others. But what they lack in number, they make up for in skill. The Marinai ships are half the size of Tresterian galleons, thus more nimble, making it easier for them to evade and harder to be caught. They're built to be more durable to withstand ramming speed, a tactic they like to use often. The officers are trained extensively in weapons and hand-to-hand combat, making them fearsome boarding parties. All in all, the Marinai fleet should not be trifled with.

THE SOLDATI
These men and women are the trained soldiers of the Republic of Noistar, and are tasked with protecting the islands as a whole. They are considered the main military upon the land. Soldato is singular, meaning “soldier”.

THE PROTETTORI
These are the loyal guards of Noistar. They are stationed to uphold the laws in each district and keep the shores safe. They are assigned to and report to a district captain. Protettore is singular, meaning “protector”.
