FACTS ::

• What Sylena doesn't remember is that she was, in fact, born in the desert kingdom known as Akasia. She never knew her true father and her mother passed away when she was only three years old. Unable to survive on her own, she found herself within the slave trade, sold from master to master until she was fourteen. This was when a Teronnian merchant (and Warden spy), Jai Avant, purchased her while he was traveling abroad. Within a week, Sylena began to show signs of magic, a power he felt that he could wield back home.
• Essentially adopting Syl, claiming her as his own from a random lover, she never knew any better. Jai convinced her that she was his child; and what could a young girl, who had never known her father, possibly do? She embraced it and the better life she was given...so long as she did as she was told.
• Jai used his new daughter to move up in society, eventually gaining the title of a Teronnian count and the land that came with it. His deceit did not stop there. Afraid Sylena's magic would be found out, he forced her into court where she ultimately fell in with the Viperidae. He wanted his legacy to continue and perhaps bring more fame and honor to his name.
• She was taught to hate any who possessed magic. Jai had her believe that the gramarye she herself possessed was only because of a particular flower tattoo he made her get years prior. As part of the Warden order himself, he took that precaution before bringing the girl back to Teronna with him.
• Sylena is a confident young woman who strives to rise up and be recognized within this world. Even still, she fears overstepping or disappointing her father.
• The brand upon her shoulder is a symbol of an Akasian slave, something that very few would even know of. Every now and then, she dreams of the hot iron that seared her skin, but it had been so traumatizing that she cannot fully recall how it happened.
• Although the Viperidae are normally non-combative, Sylena at least knows how to defend herself fairly well. She prefers knives that are easily concealed and poison.
