So, this was interesting. Very interesting. Actually, it was kind of scary, and yet Wesley found himself wandering towards the little jewelry shop anyway. It was strange because it felt normal, and yet when he thought about it, he was still kind of reeling from it.
Naturally, he hadn't told anyone, and he only just got back to Tresteria after two weeks at sea. News would travel quickly to his mother to let the family know he was home; he just wanted to make a bit of a pitstop first before heading towards the castle.
Opening the door, his bright eyes surveyed the display cases before falling upon the desk in front of him. Wesley didn't see anyone around, and idly wandered the perimeter of the store, not entirely knowing what he should be looking for. Blue, that was as far as his mind had gone in regards to this specific piece of jewelry, a ring he never anticipated.
He knew he didn't need to do this right now, there was still time, but he was spontaneous and a little compulsive...and maybe he didn't want to wait.

Emma was in the back room, gathering some supplies to wrap up some boxes and packages for orders that were going to be picked up in the next few hours. The woman had a spike in sales so she was happy for that and was hopefully making her father proud at how well her job was going.
Once her arms were full, she’d walk out and see a gentleman out in th viewing area looking through the display cases. Setting the boxes and wrappings down on a small table hidden behind her large desk, she’d walk over to him and smile, dipping down into a curtsy.
“Hello my Lord, something catch your eye?” she asked curiously. Emma kept her tone kind and friendly but it was hard to not know that this was another DeGrey and she could only smile a bit at that. They were another prominent family; like her own, so it was always nice doing business with them.

Oh, he never expected to be here. Wesley didn't really know what he was even doing. This had never been something he ever thought about, not even in the distant future...and yet, last night had changed everything. It had been so sudden, yet at the same time, it hadn't frightened him. Why didn't it frighten him?
A part of him expected to wake up in complete panic, but instead, everything was calm. Everything felt normal with Helene resting there in his arms, her tears having dried upon her cheeks. She had finally told him everything, he finally understood, and he was either a fool for not running or he truly believed he found what he had been missing.
Now, if only he could find a bloody ring. Guess he would also have to tell his family at some point?
Too bad he didn't know his younger brother's news yet.
Blinking, he was quick to regard the jeweler with a friendly smile, offering a light bow before his eyes perused the case again. "I, uh...I'm not entirely sure." If she couldn't already guess by how he stood there a little dumbfoundedly, he clearly had no idea what he was doing. "I need...a ring."

Emma would keep her hands folded lightly on her lap as she looked at the DeGrey man who was looking through her wares. Was he pulling what his brother did? Buying items for a new woman to woo? She shook that off, it was rude to just judge him on actions that he hadn’t done.
His stammering and then speaking of a ring though had her just smiling at him now.
“Do you know what you want it to look like? Gemstone color? Simple or more ornamental? Is it for just a gift or is it for an engagement?” Emma asked him curiously. It was a lot of questions sure but all were asked with kindness and respect but it was something that she needed to know to be able to help him pick out what he was needing.

Wesley was beginning to realize, now, that maybe he shouldn't have simply waltzed in here right on his own. A lot of people knew his face, knew him by name and it was a prominent surname at that. What if his mother somehow found out and she had questions? Everything had happened so quickly, and although he wasn't necessarily doubting it, he didn't think any of this through.
Well, it was a little too late now, wasn't it? He just hoped Lady Emma wasn't the gossiping sort.
She was then asking a couple of questions, and Wes had to draw in a deep and slow breath. "Uh...no?" He finally just chuckled lightly, rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment while he thought about it. "I was thinking...blue, and possibly not too simple, but not too ornamental?" Price didn't matter, but Helene didn't seem the flashy type. Neither of them were, and she would spend her days out at sea were she allowed.
Maybe she could now.
After a moment of hesitation, he finally answered the last question. "Engagement." What Wesley didn't say was that he had already asked Helene. This was just sort of a way to, what...seal the deal, so to speak? It was tradition, of course.

The DeGrey would easily learn that no matter who came into her shop, she would never let others know; well save her brother but that was because she knew she could talk to him without things being spoken all over the town. Emma would think for a moment and then smile as she motioned for him to follow her to where she worked, "Ah then I have options over here that you might like then, this way please," she would ask him as she would lead him to her desk and she would pull out a hidden key to unlock a drawer. Opening it, she would pull out an empty tray and then pulled out another that was filled with various rings and she would start to pull out a small selection for him to look over. There were nine rings to start with; One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, and Nine. "These are just a few but they are all different styles, so if you don't see one you like, I can find another or even make it to how you want it," she would tell him with a smile as she made sure he could see each one easily or pick them up to look at to his leisure.

Wesley was still going to be rather paranoid, if only because his mother had a knack for knowing things despite how careful he was. He wasn't ready to share this with anyone, so in a way, Emma was the first and only one to know. Bet she often was when it came to these things, as she was the best jeweler in Tresteria.
A gentle nod, he followed her to the desk where she would procure a tray full of lovely rings, each with a blue stone, all different shades, shapes, and designs. In truth, he really had no idea what he was looking for, just figuring that he would know when he saw it. There wasn't a rush with needing to get the ring now, but it was more like he wanted to. He was excited to.
Another light smile, he nodded, "I appreciate this, really." He sounded so lost, and it was probably blaringly obvious. Bright eyes scanned over the rings before picking up the third one to inspect it. He liked it, but he wasn't sure if it was the right one. "Do you have more like this one?" he asked her curiously.

Emma would smile at him as she brought him to look at the treasures she had made with care. She was always happy and excited to help someone pick out a ring for someone special. Emma hoped that one day someone would go through some lengths to find one for herself; and not one that she made though. “Of course, I am more than happy to help and help you find or make something that is perfect for your intended. It’s going to be a special ring so if you aren’t happy with what you find, I’ll do whatever I can to make it come to life for you,” she promised him as she watched him pick the third one up. Looking at it and then gently taking it from his fingers, she would look it over carefully before opening her drawer and pulling out another box and searching through it until she found another ring that was similar and would hold it to him to look at. “Something like this my lord?” she asked curiously. It was a beautiful choice; both of them really, so she hoped that this would suit what he was looking for. Though the challenge of making another ring sounded very appealing to her as well but she’d keep that to herself for the moment.

Lady Emma was certainly an artist. Each and every single one of these rings (as well as all the other pieces of jewelry he had briefly browsed) was beautiful, and he could easily tell how much care she put into every individual piece. She was the most renowned jeweler in Tresteria, and although he hadn't visited the shop in quite awhile, he knew exactly where to go for this occasion.
She was assuring him that if she didn't have anything he liked, she could make him a new ring. He offered her another smile and a nod of thanks, but he didn't think it would come to that. Something told him the right ring was here somewhere.
Wesley was very patient as she looked through another box, and when she held out another ring, he took it carefully in hand. The blue of the sapphire was striking, and the placement of the smaller diamonds on the sides reminded him of the stars- the very same ones he and Helene had been staring at when he asked her to stay with him.
The grin on his face widened a bit more before bright eyes flickered back up to Emma. "This one. Definitely this one. It's perfect."

Emma wanted to make sure he saw as many that fit his criteria, wanting to make him happy and his future wife.
The moment they landed on piece though, she smiled and held it out to him to inspect, “This is a blue sapphire, diamond chips with a specialty warm pinkish-gold that I make.” she told him, giving him the details of the band.
“Do you have an idea of her finger size? I can adjust the band to make it bigger or smaller?” she would ask. Currently it was sitting at about a size 7 and a half for a ring size.

There was that strangeness again, that he was even here. That he was picking out a ring. For a moment, Wesley wondered if he had gone mad, and he wondered if his family would think the same.
Oh shit, he was going to have to tell his family.
Blinking, he grinned as she further explained the details of the ring as he examined it closer. At her question, however, he looked a little sheepish. "I...do not know her size," he confessed. "Would we be able to bring it back to be sized if it didn't fit?"
Wesley had already asked Helene and she agreed, so he could probably just ask her her size, but he still wanted it to be a surprise. Everything, thus far, had been kind of unconventional.
