FACTS ::

• The daughter of Baron Fionne Byrne and his wife, Caragh. Arieen grew up in a rather strict and stuffy household. Both her parents regarded her as more of an object to be sold to the highest bidder, and it had been the nannies who cared for her, assuring she was fed, washed, and clothed.
• When she became of age, Arieen was promised to be wed to a wealthy Viscount. She ultimately refused when the young man made a proper proposal, and her parents were furious. Arieen explained that she didn't know him, therefore didn't love him, but that wasn't an answer they cared to hear. In truth, she had fallen for a traveling Akasian merchant sailor, Caine Hughes.
• By the time her parents found out, Arieen was pregnant with Caine's child. Her father immediately disowned her, while her mother desperately wanted her to stay. The woman had had a change of heart and desired to care of her only daughter and unborn grandchild, but Fionne forbade it. Arieen ran away with her lover where they married soon after, and she gave birth to their son, Rowan.
• Even though life was harder and not what she had been used to, the three were happy for a few years until Caine unfortunately passed away from illness when Rowan was four. It was a struggle then to stay alive, and Arieen took whatever odd jobs she could find to survive.
• A year later, an attack broke out in Saryus where she and her son lived. Arieen later learned Mystics had threatened the village, but that day changed her life for the better despite the horror that had broken out. It was as she was trying to escape with Rowan, a young warrior saved them from a Mystic that had burst into her small home.
• Arieen was immediately smitten, feeling safe in Desmond's presence. The most important part was that he loved and cared for her son, a child that wasn't his. And when they were married, Des adopted Rowan as his very own without hesitation. A year later, she gave birth to twins, Cian and Cara, then later on came Arya and finally Dunstan.
• Desmond had healed her broken heart, and since then she has continued to support him in everything. She trusts his judgement completely, and if there is something she is unsure about, she makes her opinion known.
• Upon marrying Des, Arieen learned that the DeGraffs had taken it upon themselves for years to hunt down Mystics as the people began to fear the use of magic. So, when King Allarick Le'Orin had his own wife, the queen, put to death for being a Mystic, thus sparking the current war on magic, Desmond and his brother, Jareth, helped form the Wardens with his majesty's blessing.
• A few years ago, when Mystics attacked the city, the family was devastated by the death of both Cara and Rowan's wife, Muriel. They had been trapped in a burning building, and they never found traces of either woman. Arieen still cries about it when she is alone.
• Thus far, all her children but Arya have followed in their father's footsteps and joined the Warden order. Although she fears and worries for them every day, she couldn't be anymore proud. She feels safer knowing the DeGraffs are trying to make Teronna a safer place.
• Although she is no soldier, Arieen began to learn about poisons and had once considered joining the Viperidae class of Wardens, but she knew the role of mother was far more important for her.
  
• Along with the war on magics, the DeGraffs have had an ongoing feud with the Lee Fryes for generations.
  
• Arieen usually has a very calm air about her, although she can be very stern when she needs to be.
