ABOUT CARA ::

The first-born daughter to Desmond and Arieen DeGraff, Cara is the twin to Cian. He is older by eight minutes. She looks up to both her elder brothers, though Cian is her best friend. 

A few years after she and Cian were born, their younger sister, Arya, was born, and shortly after that Dunstan. Cara loves her family more than anything and would do everything she could to protect them. She grew up a strong and confident woman, able to hold her own and defend herself. 

The DeGraffs are a well-known noble family within Teronna, and some claim that they were responsible for King Allarick creating the Wardens. A lot of the DeGraffs even joined the military, so it is not difficult to wonder if this is true. Cara had wanted to and was about to pursue in trying to join the ranks of the Viperidae.

Since she had been around for most of Cara’s life, she became very close to Rowan’s wife, Muriel. She told the woman everything and when she wasn’t with Cian, she could be found with Muriel instead. The two had been out together when the mystic attack happened. 

They became trapped in a building that the mystics locked from the outside before setting it on fire. Muriel managed to break open a window and forced Cara out so she could lead the others out to safety. Cara begged Muriel to hurry and to get out herself, but the woman remained, trying to help as many people out. She started to climb up to get back inside and drag Muriel out, but the building was beginning to crumble and a board engulfed in flames fell onto Cara’s shoulder, knocking her back to the ground, injuring her. 

As she was getting back up, she noticed mystics heading their way and before she could call out to Muriel, the building crumbled and collapsed. Muriel unfortunately never made it out. The mystics attacked, giving chase and shooting arrows, striking several of the other escapees down. Cara tried to fight back, defending herself and the others, but she was horribly outnumbered. 

Cara was surrounded when she came to a cliff’s edge and she was faced with a few choices: Be killed, be taken prisoner, or jump- which ultimately could kill her anyway. Cara decided to take the leap of faith and crashed down into the ocean below, disappearing from her attackers. No one ever saw her again. 

Her family, knowing where Cara and Muriel had gone before the attack, found the building crumbled and burnt down, and since the two had never returned, they assumed both had died and were devastated by the loss.

Cara does not remember any of this.

She woke up on a ship, confused, disoriented, scared, and unable to remember what happened, how she ended up on a ship, or even who she was. 

The Brotherhood found Cara floating unconscious in the ocean and pulled her on board their ship and cared for her. This was how she ended up a mercenary in the Brotherhood herself.

Cara often sees a strange-looking crow that has a single white feather amongst all the black. It seems to follow her around as if it is watching out for her or trying to tell her something. Strangely, she sees this same crow in her dreams, and it talks to her sometimes. 

She also sees images of Cian in her dreams, often, but she does not know who he is. She finds it odd that he has very similar eyes to her own.
