She does not control the content of the hallucination; this relies on the victim's state of mind prior to exposure. She can usually control whether or not she affects others, but in times of great stress or fear, she becomes less and less able to control it. She regularly wears gloves for social occasions to avoid any accidental effects.

SELF IMAGE: Nilsana often worries that she is not as strong and confident as her sister. She admires Risa greatly, and wishes she were more like her. 
REPUTATION: Nilsana is hardly ever alone; she is always seen with her sister or one of her cousins. Most people do not know her well. She almost seems to hide behind the others.

PERSONALITY:
Nilsana is a shy, somewhat sorrowful young woman. She was more free-spirited prior to the death of her mother, but after what happened, much of her life is spent in fear. Fear of being discovered, fear of losing her sister...She knows that Risa would do anything to protect her, and so would her cousins, but then...wouldn't they have protected her mother, if they could? Wouldn't they save all these innocents, if they could? And then, if her siblings and cousins are so much stronger than her, and they can't stop this terror...then what does that make her? 

What she wants, more than anything else, is to feel safe. She does, in fleeting moments, forget to be frightened, but she has a difficult time finding that peace. 

Nilsana spends much of her time at home caring for her father--while also very carefully making sure he stays incapacitated. She insists to her sister that she doesn't mind watching over him, along with the servants, so that Risa can be social, travel, and other things. She knows her sister is often out on errands, but she doesn't know that Risa is involved with the Unseelie.

HISTORY:
Life with an alcoholic father was never easy, but the children's mother made it better. She watched over them, cared for them, taught Nilsana to sew and embroider. And then, in the blink of an eye, she was gone. 

Arlen eventually became afraid of his own family. In a drunken stupor at the tavern one night, he let it out that his wife was a Mystic. Soldiers broke down their door in the middle of the night and took her mother away where she was executed in the square before the sun even came up the next day.

Nilsana was only 12 when their mother was killed. She has relied utterly on her sister Risa since then. 

When Risa first suggested that they use their abilities to keep their father from being a danger to them, Nilsana tried to argue. She was terrified that it would backfire, that he would know they had done something to him and turn them in. But, ultimately, her trust in her sister won out over her fear, as it always did. Together the two of them brought to life Arlen's greatest fears. 

Since then, the two of them have been maintaining their father's insanity. Little touches--brushing sweat from his forehead, holding his hand to comfort him, kissing his cheek--are enough to keep Nilsana's magic in effect each day. Not all the hallucinations are bad, some just strange, like birds sitting on the armoire, fishes swimming through the air. This eases her conscience, a little. 

Nilsana worries what will become of them if Blaine returns, or their father passes away, but for now, however long now may be, they are safe.
