PERSONALITY::
Terra is used to doing things by herself. She’s very independent and hard working. Oftentimes working herself to exhaustion, not stopping until everything is done. She’s very responsible and likes to keep things organized and has a strict schedule she tries to keep with. Anyone ruining or interrupting said schedule with unexpected visits usually makes her grumpy. Terra is a woman that doesn’t have a lot of expectations from people. She’s never met anyone reliable save for herself and her father. There are a select few who she actually trusts and even fewer she would even trust alone with her daughter.
Despite her low expectations, she condescends herself constantly by hoping that this person or this small request might be different than the rest. She builds herself up with hope, wanting to see the good in people, that when the person ultimately lets her down, she takes it, and takes it hard. Crushing her own spirits, despite already knowing the outcome. Disappointment has always been a companion to Terra, and it’s her constant tormentor.
The only joy she’s found in life is through her daughter. Her greatest blessing, and the one thing keeping her going in life. Myra might only be two, but already her mother is bound and determined to give her the life she deserves. There’s nothing she wouldn’t do for the little girl, putting her first in everything she does. Myra is Terra’s whole world and she will do anything to protect her child. Even if it means breaking her own heart.
Since Myra came into the world, Terra has grown bitter and angry at Myra’s father. She secretly hates herself for still having feelings for him. Knowing he doesn’t deserve either of them, but...the heart wants what it wants… It’s caused a great deal of tension between the two, and though she wants Ciaran to be able to see his child, she also wants to beat him upside the head and open his eyes. To force him to be a man. She believes deep down, Ciaran has a good heart, and can do better, it’s just a matter of breaking through that dense skull of his. Her patience is wearing thin, however, and there’s only so much she feels that she can handle on her own.
HISTORY ::
Terra was born to a man from Teronna and a woman that was from Akasia. Her father was a mill worker and worked hard every day to try and put food on the table. Her mother worked where she could, and the small family seemed to be doing okay. Or so they thought. Her mother left abruptly when she was merely six years old. She had hopes that her mother would return, as she'd merely told Terra it would only be for a little while. Well...What she thought would only be for a few days turned into weeks, and then months, and then years. Her father lashed out one day after she asked when she was coming back, and he told her her mother was never coming back.
Devastated, Terra tried to move on. Her mother comes to mind from time to time, wondering if she’ll ever see her again. Growing up, her father had to work hard in order for them both to survive. Terra learned early on how to care for herself and do whatever chores she could do. Her father was a fair, kind man, but even then, he made promises he couldn’t keep. As did any of Terra’s friends, to the point she just expected disappointment. Her biggest disappointment was when her father didn’t come that night for dinner when she was 17, She’d tried making a good dinner that night to surprise, but he never came home. Instead, he’d been in an accident at the mill, and a few days later he’d passed away. Terra hadn’t found out until she went to the mill the next morning. Having been an afterthought to anyone else.
With her father’s death, she was unable to keep up the rent on their small home and was forced to leave. She worked hard for herself, going from job to job. She developed multiple skills that proved useful. When she was 22, she found herself employed by the Lee Frye’s. Honestly, it was her dream job. She was paid well and had a roof overhead. The work was simple enough and she didn’t mind it in the slightest. What she did mind? Little Lordlings finding their way into the kitchen to flirt with her while she was trying to work. Ciaran Lee Frye had started his advances within the first week of her being there, and she did well to remind him she was there to work, and not flirt with young lords. Even if said lords were particularly handsome, and had a smile that did things to young girls hearts.
Their relationship grew over the next two years, to the point Terra might have considered him a friend if he wasn’t her employer's son. Things had changed though. You could practically see it in the way one would light up when the other was around, and it was after a card game in the kitchen one afternoon, that Terra realized she liked Ciaran more then she should. More then she was allowed too. After a storm one night, their relationship changed even more. Growing closer than they’d probably anticipated, what had started as just fooling around and stealing kisses behind closed doors grew far more serious.
Things changed drastically again when Terra realized she was pregnant. After being so careful that it wouldn’t happen, she was shocked to find had. Forced to tell Ciaran, she did as he asked. Thinking he’d take care of everything. She quit her job with the Lee Frye’s before anyone found out about the baby before she followed Ciaran blindly. Her foolish heart thinking they were going to run off together and start their own family. How wrong she was… Rather than do what she’d expected, Ciaran had disappointed her in the worst way. Crushing her heart and essentially dumping her in a small village.
She had a roof over her head and had a promise that money would come. He’d left her. Alone and with a baby on the way, Terra had done what she did best and found work after she pulled herself together after a week of crying. She can count on one hand how many times Ciaran came to see her during her pregnancy, and she nearly gave up on him. When she had their daughter, she was pleased he’d finally decided to come around, and though it pains her to see him, she’s glad he accepted Myra and comes to see her. Since Myra’s birth, their relationship has become very strained. She never told Ciaran, but she’d fallen for him and fallen hard. She secretly wishes he’ll get his act together, to stay to hell with everything despite how it might look for his family, and do the right thing. Whether that be marry her as she’d once desperately wanted, or to at least tell his family that he has a child. In truth, Terra is tired. Nearing her wit's end with what she can handle emotionally with him anymore. His visits, though good for Myra, are not consistent. She has to think about what’s best for Myra, and Terra is beginning to wonder if she should just do what her mother had once done to her. Take Myra, leave Teronna, and Ciaran...Forever.
