FACTS ::

• The eldest son of Alicio and Iva Debienne- at least, the only surviving son. His brother, Lorin, had been five when he was born. Tragedy struck the family when Lorin was found face first in the pond of Blackthorn Manor, and they never found out what had happened. When Julien was ten, his sister Ophelia was born.
• He became a military man, despite his father's standing at court and within politics. For awhile, he felt like the stuffy life wouldn't suit him, and he craved the adventure the infantry could provide. Julien worked hard and worked his way up the ranks to Lieutenant.
• Eventually, he met Dani deGrey . They immediately hit it off, and he completely ignored the stories that followed the woman. All he could see was how easy she made it to be carefree and enjoy life, just taking a day at a time. He married her, almost without question, and they were happy for a few years...until they weren't. Her heart seemed to be claimed by the sea and her desire to travel, and Julien knew he could not follow. A part of him desperately wanted to, but his place was in Tresteria with his family.
• Alicio hadn't been doing well for awhile. Right before Julien's divorce to Dani, his father spiraled, and could only be described to have lost his mind. Doctors could do nothing to help, and one morning, before the sun even rose, Lord Debienne walked out into the woods of Blackthorn and slit his own throat. One of the servants found him hours later, dead and cold.
• From a young age, Ophelia always appeared sick and haunted. She went through these tantrums, screaming about ghosts and seeing things that clearly were not there. Iva was completely distraught, finding the need to hide her only daughter away from the eyes of society and away from rumors that would inevitably spread. Still, stories of the family at Blackthorn filtered through court, and at the age of thirty-two, Julien was forced to leave his life in the military and work his way into the Tresterian council. He was lord of the manor now and had to be home as much as possible. He had to take care of his mother and sister, forgoing his own happiness.
• Doesn't like how his mother hides Ophelia away (even if a part of him understands it.) He still has hope that his sister will someday be cured, and will do anything to make sure that happens.
• Although they divorced, he and Dani are still good friends. Julien is still fairly close with her brothers, Declan deGrey and Drew deGrey .
• He never told Dani about his father or Ophelia's illnesses. He's never told anybody.
• Refuses to ever marry again.
• Has learned to hide his true emotions behind laughter and a smile.
• Tends to get a little opinionated.
• When it's a bad day, he'll hit the scotch a little too hard.
• Knows how to play the piano and violin very well.
• Has better hair than Drew (self proclaimed.)
