To my first Grandchild,

Dearest Declan, It pains me that I won't be there for Yule this year. However, I've included presents for both you and the girls as well as my current mailing address. I expect to hear from you soon how your Yule has gone.

Has your ex-wife dropped dead yet? Oh shush your self grandson. I can hear your eyeroll from here. You deserved better Declan. You still do, I merely want to see how you're fairing and how she is. I know she's the girls mother, but even I act better than her. Anyway, moving on.

How are the girls? Beautiful as ever? Are you already beating off suitors? I miss them terribly and expect a day with the two of them. Dani too if she's around, us DeGrey women must stick together you know. How's the vinyard fairing? I must say the last bottle you sent me is by far the best one yet. I've dubbed it the new favorite and when I'm home, I wish to drink plenty more of it. I must say I miss your calming presence Declan. Your company has always been comforting. How are you Nana, you ask? Well I must say aside from the cold Teronna winter, I am doing marvelously. I miss my grandchildren however. I think I've been gone a bit far to long, and I'm thinking about actually coming home much sooner. Don't tell anyone else, I want it to be a surprise. I had to tell someone though, so you can expect me mid-spring, rather than early summer.

How are your brother and sister? Has our dear Andrew decided to marry yet? To settle? Or is he still wishing to run around with a sword? Nana is getting old, I want more grandchildren, and it seems none you DeGrey men will give me any. You're off the hook of course Declan, you gave me two beautiful granddaughters. Though I wouldn't mind another child from you either...Even if you are old. You're not my age yet, so your still spritely. I saw Dani a few months ago, she didn't know if she would make it in time for Yule, I hope she does. One of us DeGrey girls needs to be there to keep you boys in line.

I hope you're well my dear boy, I'm counting down the days until I can see you all again. I want a tour of the Vinyard when I'm home alright?

The girls would find several new dresses and ribbons with mathching pink swearters with "Toni" and "Belle" on theirs in gold lettering.]

To my loving grandmother,

The girls have insisted that I return to you along with this letter another bottle of the wine that you so enjoyed, along with our usual Yule fudge. They're quite put out that you aren't here to rate the other guest's outfits with them and Dani this year. They apparently saw a woman who looked as if she'd affixed an entire holly bush to her head, and it was "atrocious."

As I'm sure you can guess, Rebekah is alive and well and still making my life miserable. In fact, I can hear her guzzling her own bottle of wine in the next room as I pen this. She's quite fond of showing up at the holidays to 'visit' so that she won't have to keep her own household. So gracious a hostess, my former wife.

The girls are indeed lovely, and I am indeed beating off suitors with a stick. What I wouldn't give for one of your weaponized canes to use instead. They've danced themselves silly at the ball of course, and are finally sleeping soundly. I was able to spend some time with Dani while the girls were busy--it was good to see her again. She's in fine health and fine dress, as per usual.

Drew… Well, you'll see for yourself the trouble he's gotten himself into when you return. I shan't spoil the surprise, as I've promised Dani she can tell you all about it. Suffice it to say--I told him so.

I'll look forward to your visit, and of course, the moment you're home I shall have a room ready for you here at the Vineyard. You simply won't be allowed to stay anywhere else, as I have every intention of making you an honored guest.

Dearest Declan,

You can tell the girls that I'm so sorry for not being there to rate outfits. It pains me that we can't be there to witness the fashion disasters myself. The fudge was delicious as always, give them a hug and kiss for me in thanks. I've shared the wine with my new friends, who are already requesting more. Keep the whine coming Ducky boy!

I am so sorry about Rhonda. You should find a pest control service and see that they see Ruby out, or allow me to find her a husband here where she can never haunt your halls again. Just say the word my dear boy and Roberta will be a problem no more. I so wish you'd have found someone that treats you like you should be treated dear. It saddens my heart to see you suffering at her hand. How's William and Mindy doing? Are they still together? I've been waiting for your cousins to right back to me about Miranda. That she devil...

Say no more, I've sent ole' faithful with this letter. Be careful with the old gal will you? She's nearly as old as I am. I believe your father was the first one to give her to me. She's a bit finnicky, so you have to use a gentle touch with her. Twist and pull. NOT pull and twist or jiggle. She's a lady Declan, she deserves to be treated as such. I trust you'll treat her gently. I've had her already sharped for you, so keep her away from you brother. 

Ducky you tease! Don't do this to Nana... What is it that Andrew has done this time? You're just going to make me come home sooner then I originally intended. I should write your brother next... I'm so glad Dani has made it home to Yule. I was worried she'd be late, or would miss out. Spoil her for me will you? She is your only sister. 

There had better be a room waiting for me, I don't plan on staying anywhere else! The others are to crazy for me, they'll get me riled up. I do looked forward to staying with you grandson. 

I've made quite an unlikely friendship I must say. Declan, I have a boyfriend. I'll be honest, I don't think he's aware of it, but he's so charming! He's been nothing but kind, and certainly knows how to treat a lady. His sisters are absolutely lovely creatures and think any of your cousins or brother would do well with one. Lucas is quite the entertainer, he plays me piano and has made me an honored guest. Oh Ducky...if only I were younger. Don't get me wrong I did love your grandfather, but Lord Lucas certainly is a great companion. 


Let me know how Ole Faithful works for you dear, and if you really must, use it on Rubella. Maybe she'll take the hint and stop being a free loader.
