He accepted Ronan being grumpy. The guy had been through a lot and Sebastian knew he wasn't the comforting sort. Arguably he was being an agitator but his words didn't prevent him from showing that he rrally was trying to help. Bastian was an actions speak louder than words sort.
The man sat down again more or less in his lap and the captain was very glad no one else could see them. Baird he wasn't worried about. Bastian resumed his work with the needle on one of the deeper slashes and then the salve again. The rope had him remembering when Leti tied him to a chair and he still wasn't sure how to feel about that moment.
"You look fine," he said flatly, having given no other indication he was paying attention. He mostly wasn't.
Sebastian shrugged. It wasn't his business sharing that about anyone. He had meant only what he said. That Baird wouldn't do anything
He scanned over his work again and then pulled out the bandages to wrap what he could but he wasn't about to give the guy a full body wrap.
"Better?" He asked. "Want to join us for a drink?" The town wasn't too far off.

Ronan could at least agree to that. Words could be deceitful but someones actions more often than not meant more than they could say for themselves. As much as he hadn't appreciated what Sebastian had said earlier he did appreciate how he'd gone out of his way to help him twice now.
"Oh thank you you're far too kind." He muttered teasingly. His appearance wasn't entirely something he was concerned about. Whether or not someone found him attractive was hardly his concern when he wasn't working. When the captain shrugged his shoulders Ronan didn't push further. It wasn't his business to know a strangers sexuality nor did he really care either way.
He moved as needed to let Sebastian wrap the bandages as needed until he was covered. The offer to get a drink with him and the other man was tempting enough. Ronan needed a chance to release some of his stress. "A drink sounds nice." Though moving was still sore and a bit more stiff than before it wasn't impossible. Carefully he pulled his tunic back on and waited for the captain to lead the way before following him to the trail to see the other man.

The word 'kind' made him snort. Because that was the word he would use. Technically it wasn't wrong, Sebastian wasn't entirely an asshole a lot of the time. But he could be by virtue of not being the nice guy all the time. "Perhaps. Take the compliment. It is free." Another joke delivered very unlike a joke. He needed to work on that, but he wouldn't.
Sebastian sat for a long moment, leaning back against the tree still. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, quieting all the stupid thoughts that kept trying to surface. Why invite Ronan for a drinks? Did he want something from Ronan? No, he didn't, even feeling the guy owed him a favor. But then why? Baird. The guy needed someone to talk to and Sebastian wasn't that person. "Good."
Pushing himself up from the tree, he stashed the bit of salve he had remaining and Baird's kit in his jacket and then led the way back to the trail.
Baird gave both of them a raised eyebrow. "So...?" He said expectantly. Bastian returned him a look with a very clear: I am done with your jokes. So at least he was feeling better.

There seemed to be something wrong with Sebastian though Ronan didn't know enough about the man to pin point it. He also didn't feel it was his place to ask. The man didn't seem to be the type that was too open about his feelings. Perhaps he didn't entirely understand them? He'd met plenty of people in his line of work that were like that. That found other vices to funnel their emotions into.
Sex didn't seem to be one of the captains vices which made Ronan wonder what his were. But again it wasn't his place to ask. "I didn't mean to interrupt the two of you." He stated sweetly to Baird as it seemed Sebastian wasn't interested in talking to him.
"I didn't get to introduce myself before," He started with a bit of a forced smile. "My name is Ronan but you can call me Kitten if you want. Everyone else does." There wasn't any shame in people knowing his brothel name. So many people referred to him by that now that it was as natural as his birth name. It also seemed easier for others, given his small and soft appearance.
Talking Sebastians friend made him more reserved. While he was happy to talk with him and be a distraction it was the same way he acted towards clients at work. More of an act than anything.

Baird smiled, trying valiantly to cover up his frustrations from before. Having some alone time had helped him pull himself together outwardly and physically at least. "Not at all. Ya probly noticed, but the captain's a bit hard to interrupt." On account of his not talking very much. He decided to take the hint from Sebastian's look and easy up a little.
He held out a hand to Ronan and his smile grew a bit more awkward. "Ronan. I'm Logan. I...won't be callin' ya Kitten, it tha's alright?" It was in fact a term of endearment he used with his daughter. It would be...weird, to call a grown man that, to say the least. The name, coupled with looking Ronan over again, suggested his career and that made the man curious. He had an easy going manner, much unlike his counterpart. Baird could tell Ronan wasn't thrilled about meeting a stranger. "How...how did you two meet? And don't tell me he calls ya Kitten too?" He teased lightly.
"No, every else does not call him that," Sebastian clarified from the front as they walked along the trail. He avoided even saying the name out loud, as if it might bite him.
Baird didn't take offense at the terse tone the captain used, as if he barely heard it.

It was fairly obvious Sebastian didn't speak much. Not that Ronan minded. It was nice to not be badgered with a lot of talk sometimes. He took the mans offered hand and shook it with a giggle as he said he wouldn't be referring to him as Kitten. "No worries. you won't have to unless you plan on coming to my work." It was mostly a tease. Most of the soldiers had taken to coming to Candlelights some time ago and he hadn't seen this one there yet. He doubted he was one to go to a brothel.
When asked how he and the captain had met he shrugged his shoulders. "One of the soldiers was harassing me at work and Sebastian made him leave so I bought him a drink." Hearing the way Sebastian refused his name made Ronan snort.
"Well, he's the one who said Kitten fit me better than Ronan does." Perhaps it wasn't the best idea to poke the bear but he wanted to lighten some of the mood. It also wasn't a lie. The fact that he seemed almost afraid of referring to him by the name now was amusing. "Though to be fair most people say Kitten fits me better."

The captain wasn't a conversationalist, but he could talk if needed. Sebastian didn't need to talk. Other people though, sometimes they needed someone to talk to them, so the man was compelled to speak sometimes.
Baird grinned. "I don't plan to, no," he said, appreciating the tease. He had already tested that part of his relationship with his wife and while Blake had been surprisingly...understanding, he did in fact quite enjoy his wife and his family. Having another friend was one thing, but going to a brothel would send the wrong message.
"At work?" The guard had heard the rest of the sentence, but he attached immediately to those two little words. He chuckled and smiled at Sebastian. "Just a drink?"
Sebastian didn't bother to rise to the teasing from either man. "Glad to see you are feeling better," he noted generically. He meant it to both of them. They hadn't even had drinks yet. The captain didn't particularly mind being ganged up on, especially if it meant neither of them were so morose. Sad and serious didn't fit either of the men he walked with. It seemed both Ronan and Baird were good at putting on happy faces. That or maybe they both just liked people better than Sebastian did.
He could feel Baird's good natured and grateful smile directed at his back. "Ronan's a good name," the older man reaffirmed.
The lights of the town and its walls came into view through the trees as the path they were following drew closer to the main road. "There someplace ya like ta get a drink, Ronan? One of the inns, maybe?" Baird asked.

to be fair it was a bit of both really. Ronan learned from a young age how to put on a happy face even if he was miserable. It had been a skill that helped him a lot while working. He also did indeed just like people in general. At the very least he was sure he liked people more than the man ahead of him did. Though he could have pointed out it was just a drink. That they'd talked for a bit then he left, he chose not to. If just to give the other man something to tease Sebastian about later.
Hearing that 'Ronan' was a good name his smile did drop a bit. "My mother certainly would have agreed with you." He said softly with a small bite of his bottom lip.
As the town came back into view Ronan looked around until he heard the question. A soft pink color crossed his cheeks as he gave a slightly embarrassed chuckle. "Well, I've never actually drank anywhere other than the bar at Candlelights." As he tried to shrug his shoulders the stitches in his back tugged at his skins making his yelp slightly.
"I do know there's an inn not far from here that one of my old regulars used to stay at a lot when his wife was upset with him."

Baird grinned harder when Ronan neither confirmed nor denied whether anything happened beyond sharing a drink. Of course, the guard was entirely teasing on the subject. Mostly because he knew Sebastian had zero qualms talking about anything sexual. He wasn't one to brag either but had the captain and Ronan done anything, Baird knew Sebastian would have corrected the smaller man.
No such confirmation or correction came from the captain either. He didn't really care what Baird did or did not know about his sex life. He was glad Baird didn't bring it up further.
Family was clearly a touchy subject. Fair enough. Baird didn't want to tall aboit his either. Neither did Bastian. Not that he could relate anyway, not rrally knowing his mother.
The older guardsman was about to make a connection with the name of the bordello so casually dropped but instead started at the yelp. "Y'alright?" He asked, unable to keep the concern from his voice.
And then there was more casual reference to male clients cheating on their wives and Baird nearly tripped.
Sebastian glanced back at both of them blankly as if making sure both his companions did in fact exist. He made eye contact with Baird and decided to control himself (unlike the other guard) and keep his rude comments to himself. He refrained from making a joke about the inn being a perfect place for someone like Baird.
Needless to say, the other guard immediately felt guilty.
"The inn sounds perfect," he said softly, more than recognizing what Sebastian was thinking. He was a grown man, he could admit to his mistakes. Well, mistake might be a strong word to use in present company, but he did in fact love his wife. Things had just been...difficult after Ainsleigh died.
"What is it called?" The captain asked. He knew a few places and wasn't opposed to getting directions. That or Ronan could lead the way.
