FACTS ::

• The first-born child and son of Fitzwilliam Wright- a retired captain of the Aralorian infantry- and his wife Jeanine. From the moment Jaren was able to hold a blade, his father pushed him to train, urging him to become the perfect soldier as he expected him to earn the rank of captain just like he did. It was all Jaren ever knew, and every so often managed to enjoy the rest of his childhood when he could sneak away to spend time with Griffin and Brianna.
  
• During the last war with Saelis, the captain of his unit was killed in combat which immediately promoted him- the next highest ranking officer- to take the lead. Jaren wasn't prepared, he wasn't ready to put more lives within his hands, and ultimately his decision to flank the enemy was met with a volley of arrows and spears they hadn't seen coming. Nearly every soldier under his command was killed, and he only survived because of the brave efforts of Anthony Cadigan, who saved him from one of the flying projectiles. The man died in his arms, and it's one of the many horrors from that day that he is unable to forget.
  
• Although he had been thrown into the rank of captain, Jaren didn't want it. He didn't feel like he deserved it. He spoke candidly with his commander, Naeva Northam , and she demoted him back to lieutenant; making it seem like her idea so that he could save face. His respect for her tripled even if he didn't believe he deserved any of it. His father, however, was furious.
  
• On top of his failures during the battle, Jaren came home to find that the woman he was engaged to marry was already betrothed to another. Whether it had been her decision or her family's, he didn't bother to ask. Many thought he wasn't going to return from war, but he hadn't been given much time to prove them wrong. Now, Jaren believes that love is a sham and just another unnecessary heartache.
• Jaren tends to keep to himself, so people often think he's broody and rude. However, he adores his siblings and mother, and will sometimes be a different person around them. It's rare these days because of what he's dealt with, but he tries to find some sort of normalcy in his life.
• He respects his younger brother for picking up on the family duties where he himself cannot. He also believes that Brianna should be able to become a knight, even if he doesn't want to ever see her on the battlefield.
• Has a grey streak in his hair which might just be hereditary or may have been caused from overwhelming stress.
• Has a hunting dog named Beau.
