CHARACTER NAME: Atlas Marston
AGE: 28
CURRENT RESIDENCE (Which land in Elysium will they live?): Aralore
APPEARANCE (General info, height/weight, eye/Hair color, build, etc.): Atlas is tall, standing at 6’1 he has wheat blonde hair that sometimes looks like a light brown. He has blue-grey eyes that almost take on a piercing blue hue when the sun hits them just right. Not overly muscular, but not thin either, Atlas has an average frame with slightly broad shoulders that taper slightly at his waist. He has strong arms and legs from his work on the farm that has kept him in shape since he was a part of the Rangers.
Given his profession, it is not uncommon to see him covered in sweat and dirt with a few cuts or nicks on his hands as well as callouses. The only notable thing about Atlas that you will notice right away and the only indicator of his life from the war is the long scar on the left side of his face. Going from above his left eyebrow down to the middle of his left cheek. How he managed to not go blind in his left eye is a miracle in and of itself. He has a few other scars along his torso from his time of war. When asked he gives the simple sender of “War.” And leaves it at that.

PERSONALITY: Atlas is very quiet and soft-spoken. He doesn’t like large crowds and prefers quiet solitude. He becomes nervous when approached by more than two people, and usually tries to leave if he feels an anxiety or panic attack coming. If he’s accompanied by a family member or a friend, you can usually get him to have a drink with you in a tavern, but it’s rare for him to just walk into one by himself. He trusts very few people, namely his family and those he served in the Rangers with. He struggles with making new friends because of his extreme shyness, but once you can get him to stop stuttering, he’s actually pretty easy to talk to. War changed Atlas in a way that made him even quieter, turned him even more into a loner, to the point he just really likes the quiet solitude of him and the plow.
Once you know Atlas you will find he is rather wise for his age and can be very kind and playful. He loves food and is always munching on anything he gets his hands on. He has a high metabolism and his constant work in the fields always puts him in a mood for food. The quickest way to win him over is to feed him. He is highly intelligent and usually has a purpose when he does something. He is not likely to be lazy, but very hard working. He is often soft-spoken so when he speaks he is often told to speak up. When he does he gives good advice and his opinion is usually highly valued.
A generally very sweet and gentle man, there is a darker side to Atlas that few people have ever seen. He can become quite violent and wrathful when someone pushes him too far, threatens, or harms anyone he cares about. Oftentimes forgetting himself, and even sometimes- forgetting who even he is thanks to his PTSD. During the war, Atlas became a different person. That version is not one he likes to talk about. He was a very good Ranger, and was very loyal to the cause. Atlas was the type you wanted to have watching your six. Calculating, and loyal to his fellow Rangers, there wasn’t anything Atlas wouldn’t do for them. Even risking his own life to save theirs. War changed him in a way that he found he liked it maybe a bit too much. War was not kind to Atlas, and he was one of the unfortunate ones that came home from the war with PTSD. Something he still struggles with even three years later. He refuses to talk about the war, or what he did in it with anyone save for a select few.
HISTORY:
Atlas is the second son, and second born child to a family of wheat farmers. His family stayed with their land when Aralore fell to Saelis; it was their home, and all that they had. They couldn't' afford to just pick up and leave. Things were rough at times when he was young, but everyone in the family contributed as much as they could. The Marstons celebrated when the rightful queen returned. When Alexandria asked her people to move with her, they followed without hesitation.
Their farm started out with a bit of difficulty building things up from scratch on a new island, but they managed to have fairly good crops. With the talk of war possibly arising, and having a sense of duty to his part aside from helping with the family farm, Atlas decided to enlist and found himself within the ranks of the Rangers. And he was a good Ranger. Having a natural affinity with a sword, but even more so with a bow, Atlas proved himself useful and even more worthy opponent. He will never admit it now, but if you asked him five years ago he would have told you he loved it. He thinks of his fellow rangers as an extension of his family and would do quite literally anything for them.
The war was cruel to Atlas however. It tormented his mind with the sights he saw. How a man could so easily kill another in the name of a cause. Not that he didn’t mind his cause. His family had been in Aralore land since the beginning, and the Order could pry it from his cold dead bloody fingers if they dared. What scared Atlas the most about himself during the war was how much he actually enjoyed the fighting. The killing. It allowed him to release all his pent up rage at the order and unleash it on the men who dared to take his home away.
At some point, Atlas had jumped in front of one of his fellow Rangers. Saving his life, but the consequence was capture. A few men from the Order took Atlas back to their camp for interrogations, and it was a night he will never forget, and one that haunts him still. Still, something snapped in him that night, and it whatever it was had put his survival instincts to the test. He would not die there, and he would not tell them what they wanted. He was the only man to walk out of that camp alive. Making his way back to his own camp, everyone was shocked to see him, but happy he was alive. He was sent to the infamy tent for his injuries and then thrown back into battle. He fought fiercer than ever.
When he returned home, he was a different man both physically and mentally. He brought the war home with him, and instead of throwing himself into alcohol like some might, he threw himself into work instead. He’s gotten better, but he’s as quiet as ever and refuses to talk to anyone about what happened during the war save for his Ranger Captain Raphael Bishop , and maybe his best friend August Keller . His focus is to be the best farmer he can be and help his family.
