CHARACTER NAME: Adam Cothain
AGE: 26
CURRENT RESIDENCE (Which land in Elysium will they live?): Teronna
APPEARANCE (General info, height/weight, eye/Hair color, build, etc.): Adam is tall with an athletic build. Hes not super musclar, but he also doesn’t look like someone you’d mess around with. His training has given him a well formed body he tries to keep care of and in the best shape. His hair is on the longish side, more of a wavy dark brown mop that gets in his eyes constantly, and most times he forgets to shave so his jaw is full of stubble. He has piercing blue eyes that have been known to stare down the fiercest of warriors. For those that have seen Adam’s smile it’s like that of a sly cat’s. Full of nothing but mischief and hinting at the darker side of life.
MARITAL STATUS: He’s taken, she just don’t know it yet.
FAMILY TIES: Father: Ruairc Cathain | Vivian Le'Orin [deceased] | Younger sister: Cera Le'Orin | Uncle: Oberon
POSITION/OCCUPATION: Warden/Guard
TITLE/RANK: Commoner
GRAMARYE GIFT (if any): Desire. Adam can get people to tell him their deepest darkest desires by looking them in the eyes. In order for it work however, he has to ask “What is your deepest Desire?” Depending on how focused and deeply he’s staring into the person's eye, they will feel this sudden urge to tell him what it is they’ve always desired. Once Adam breaks eye contact they only have a vague memory of having a pleasant conversation with him and won’t remember what he asked. If Adam has any hope in ensuring they forget, he has to be extremely focused. Any distractions that might pull the other person's attention away, runs the risk of them knowing he did something to them. Depending on the environment and situation, and that person's mental state at the time (if they’re upset or calm) its a roll of the dice on if they remember or not. (Aquila will actually roll a dice, and take important factors Into consideration) There is also the chance that person has a strong will power that day (they have a 50/50 chance with a roll) on whether or not it will even work.
Because of all the factors he has to take into consideration, Adam runs the risk of the person knowing he might be a mystic if he can’t focus enough. Given his profession, this puts him in danger, so he only uses it when he feels he needs too or his father ask him to use it in order to know a person's weakness.
PERSONALITY: Adam quickly got the nickname “Dog” growing up, and even more so after he became of age, for his fierce loyalty to his father and their cause. Though he knows she is technically the enemy, he also has a loyalty to Eve Fabron. Where Eve goes, Dog is sure to be close by. He has an even temperament, and is a very laid back individual who is easy to get along with and can easily make friends. Most of the time his laid backness gets him into trouble and people think he’s lazy. On the contrary he is very hard working, and like any dog, will turn just as vicious as one if he’s pushed too far. He has a short temper and really doesn’t bullies or anyone looking down on someone who is trying to better their life. He especially doesn’t tolerate anyone picking on or harming mystics. Given his profession and task, he’s forced to hide his beliefs though he will help them whenever he can.
Adam never knew his mother and he has to hide who he is from his sister. Because of this, he highly gravitates towards his father. Thinking him some sort of messiah who will help mystics get their freedom and to not live in fear the right way. He looks up to his father, and has viewed him as the best role model he could ever have. Adam will do anything he asks, without any questions.
HISTORY:
The tale of Adam Cathrain is a rather sad one. The result of an affair, with a queen no less, he was whisked away promptly after his birth. He never knew the real reason as to why she never kept him, but Adam could only guess it was to protect him from King Allarick. To The kings belief, Queen Vivian Le'Orin had given birth to a stillborn son. Too ashamed, she’d had him taken away so she wouldn’t have to look at him. In reality, the little prince was hidden away and given to his real father. Ruairc Cathain. From what Adam was told, his father did his best in letting his mother see him when she could. It was painful for her though, to see the son she could never properly get to see grow. King Allarick's paranoia and madness had begun to show themselves as well, and Vivian could no longer visit. She was pregnant for a second time with Adams younger sister. And unlike this pregnancy, she wouldn’t be able to fool Allarick twice.
With his madness, the king had enacted a terrible act. One Adam is actually grateful he has no memories of, as his mother was murdered for “corrupting” the king. The war on mystics began, and Ruairc took his son and they went into hiding.
In the years that followed, Adam grew into a fine lad who looked up to his father despite his oddness. He didn’t mind if he talked to himself and scribbled on papers or anything like that. He was a leader, and the little boy idolized him. As he got older it didn’t take them long to find out Adam was also a mystic with a unique way of getting people to essentially tell him their greatest weakness. What they desired most in the world. With this gift, they were able to use it to their advantage and Adam did whatever was asked of him.
When he became of age he joined the guard. Needing some way to help provide for their cause, but also so he could try and find the mysterious Wardens his father always told him about. It was right after he joined that he met her. Eve. It had been happenstance that they were in the same training group, and despite her standoffish personality and desire to be perfect, Adam gravitated towards her and bent her to his will enough that the two eventually became unlikely friends. He arrived to do his best, to show that a commoner could be so much more than cannon fodder. He worked hard in his studies and training until he was one of the stop trainees.
You can imagine the look on his face when he was approached one day and finally told about the Wardens. In fact, they wanted him to become one. Finally, they would have someone on the inside. Adam was fully aware of the danger he was in, and because of it, he rarely uses his Gramarye unless he has to. He’s been forced to keep a distance from his father and their people as well, which has been a struggle for him. He comes home when he can, however, to share whatever information he can.
To his pleasant surprise, Eve also became a Warden, and the two are even more Inseparable. It didn’t take him long in their time of friendship to realize how much he actually cares about Eve. So much so, he’s secretly in love with her, however, he doesn’t dare act on his feelings. Mostly because of his need to prove himself worthy of her, wanting to rise in rank, but also because of the fact he’s a mystic spy within the Wardens and doesn't want her in any danger. Wishing to give her plausible deniability if he ever got found out.
Adam nowadays is found wherever Eve is, doing his role as a Guard and a warden. He sometimes, however, when he’s even able to get eyes on her, watches the sister who doesn’t know of his existence. Curious as to the type of person she is, and what she would think of him if she knew the truth. Adam is determined to protect her from afar, doing what he thinks their mother would have wanted him to do.
