PERSONALITY: Ioana is a bright girl who loves to laugh and enjoys life and it’s pleasures. There isn’t a moment where she isn’t laughing or smiling at something someone said. She’s feisty and quick witted. Dealing out Insults or comebacks before she even has time to think. She certainly thinks she’s a girl that can handle her own, however she’s still very young. She’s only seen a small glimpse of the trauma life can bring, and because of what she has seen, she thinks she can handle anything the world has to throw at her. Ioana is stubborn, and naive, and spontaneity gets her in trouble sometimes. Thinking the world to be a fairytale and that everyone will get their happily ever after and be happy, they just have to be patient.
Ioana is a friendly girl who just wants to be helpful. Coming from a large family she was oftentimes forgotten about, and it was hard for her to be her own person. Now that she works in the castle, she has no issues finally being the ray of sunshine she was meant to be. Her large family has taught her some responsibility but she likes to ignore it. She’s not the type to think about what her action could do and the consequences of them. Very impulsive, she’s a take action now sort of person rather than thinking about it and then acting. When she’s in trouble she shuts down. Showing that innocent naivety, as she doesn’t know how to process what she did or the trouble she’s actually in. Her first instinct is to think everything’s fine and “I’ll deal with it” but she more times then not finds herself in over her head as she doesn’t want to ask for help. Given her current predicament it took her weeks before she finally got up the nerve to tell Lachlan about the baby.
HISTORY:
Ioana was born the fourth child and third daughter to Rupert and Marisol Cawdor. She had as common of a childhood as a bunch of commoners could have, though they were slightly better off thanks to her father's job. Her mother worked as a maid and would often take the girls with her if she was able to help around with chores and the like. Teaching them to sew, mend clothes, and perform duties that would be expected of them later.
She was ten when her oldest sister died in childbirth. Beatrice had been the rebel daughter, going against their parents wishes and had ended up getting pregnant by one of the stable hands at the home she was a maid for. Her parents were outraged and requested the two marry immediately, only the stable hand panicked, and left Beatrice alone to raise their child. Ioana watched her oldest sister slowly begin die of a broken heart. She had complications during her pregnancy as well, the baby deciding to come early. Her sister ended up dying in labor, and her baby along with her.
Her parents were devastated, as well as outraged. Especially her father and warned Ioana and her other sisters what would happen if they ever decided to get foolish enough to mess around before marriage. As she got older, Ioana managed to get a job working in the palace as a Lady’s maid to Lady Rosemary McIntyre. A sweet and kind noblewoman, Ioana adores her and is thankful for the friendship she has given her.
Then she met him. After taking a corner a bit too sharp at the market one day, and being to busy with her basket, Ioana collided with a tall dark and handsome stranger. It rained the contents of her basket that day as she nearly fell to her bottom, but he hadn’t let her. One look into those dark eyes and she was a goner. The summer of love happened then. What was meant to be just a fling, as Ioana’s father had warned her what could happen if it was anything else, slowly delved into more. Ioana quickly grew to adore Lachlan, and if you ask her she knew she loved him as soon as he’d crashed into her. Only, their summer fling could no longer be. You see, history apparently was about to repeat itself. Ioana discovered she was pregnant and did the first thing she could think of. She broke things off with Lachlan before he could leave her. Because he would wouldn’t he? It was the same thing that had happened to Beatrice. Despite how much it hurt to do so, and clearly seeing how upset he was about them ending things, she did it anyway.
She avoided him for ten weeks then, trying her best to figure out how to tell her family. She was afraid, and didn’t know what do to. Her fear kept her silent, but as the weeks went on, Ioana’s thin frame was already starting to show she was growing a life inside her. She started to hide it easily enough, but quickly realized she wouldn’t be able to hide it for long. On top of it all, she found she missed Lachlan terribly. He’d left a hole in her heart that wouldn’t be filled. Not thinking she had a choice anymore, she mustered up her courage to finally tell him. Not knowing what she was going to do once he found out. She explained she’d broken things off because she’d been afraid, not knowing how to tell him. This was where History changed, as he asked her to marry him. Dumbfounded, Ioana couldn’t believe her ears. She would have been stupid to tell him no. He was the father of their baby, and she did love him, so it made perfect sense! She could be happy and get that happily ever after.
That’s not how her father took it. A month later after the engagement, Ioana finally broke down and told her family what sort of situation she was in. That Lachlan had proposed. Her problems were solved! Everything would be fine and she wouldn’t be a Beatrice. That wasn’t the case. Her father was outraged, clearly upset that she hadn’t listened to his words of warning. He didn’t believe that Lachlan would stay around, as it was still early. That eventually he would leave her. In a fit of rage, Rupert Cawdor disowned her, and gave her ten minutes to pack her things before he kicked her out. She wasn’t to come crawling back with her little bastard after her “fiancée” left. Heartbroken, and unable to argue that everything would be just fine, she did as she was told and packed up what belongings she could. Saying a quick and rushed goodbye to her siblings before she went out into the cold.
With nowhere to live, and not wanting to worry Lachlan, Ioana managed to find a place within the castle among the other servants in their quarters. She hasn’t told Lachlan or Rosemary yet that she’s been disowned, afraid of what he would do if he learned what she was living in. There’s a part of her that fears that Lachlan will leave her despite how much he might love her. Her greatest fear however is that her and Beatrice might share the same fate with bringing their child into the world...
