FULL NAME :: Currently going by Iris. Her real name is Amaryllis Rohese
BIRTH DATE :: 14th February
AGE :: Twenty-one
HEIGHT :: 5'8"
WEIGHT :: 120 Ibs
EYE COLOR :: Brown
HAIR COLOR :: Black
HOMELAND :: Though her family hails from the Clan Kotori of Aldsage several generations back: her immediate family have been nomads for longer than she has been alive. Iris and her two siblings were all born at sea.
MARITAL STATUS :: Unwed and unattached
FAMILY TIES :: Grandfather | name || Grandmother | name || Father | name || Mother | name || Older sibling | name || Younger sibling | name
CHILDREN :: None
TITLES :: Previous aliases include: Rose, Daisy, Lizzy, and Poppy.
OCCUPATION :: Travelling saleswoman, conwoman, collector and purveyor of rare items
MARKINGS :: Aside from the three piercings in each earlobe and a few small tattoos, Iris has no noticeable markings.
LIKES :: Jewels, jewellery, flowers, tea with honey in, old things, standing stones, the smell of the sea air, being lulled to sleep by the rocking of a boat, lullabies her mother and grandmother used to sing once upon a time, pretty things, dresses, historical novels, floral perfumes, having the opportunity to dress nice rather than in her usual worn clothes, and the taste of spring water from Aldsage.
DISLIKES :: The scent of earth, the taste of beetroot, staying up late, romance novels, sleeping rough or not in a bed, seeing people from her old life, being called by her birth name, the smell and taste of meat, and being cold.
GRAMARYE :: Artefact - (one of the few she's come across that actually work) a set of two thin golden interlocked rings. Her mother gave her the rings shortly before her death, Iris was six years old. As her fingers were too small for the ring, she wore it around her neck until she was eighteen. She does not know that it grants the wearer a grammyre. Whilst wearing it, Iris can consume any food or liquid that may have been poisoned or be bitten by venomous animals without fear of death- stronger poisons and venoms will still give her symptoms akin to food poisoning but they will not kill her.
. . : What did you think I'd say to that? : . .
.:Does a s c o r p i o n sting when f i g h t i n g back?:.
. They s t r i k e to kill, and you know I will .
PERSONALITY :: Naturally soft spoken and demure, one wouldn't expect Iris to be a saleswoman- and if they would they would expect her to be easily hustled. But the quiet nature and gentle voice hide a razor sharp mind and an eye for valuable items. Iris will pretend to haggle but she will never actually settle for a price lower than she initially intended. Her gentle nature make her unassuming, and she finds it easy to slip in and out of places without people remembering she was even there. Iris is a gentle soul who was made tough by circumstance. She's more than capable of defending herself, though she can usually flutter her eyelashes and and sweet talk her way out of trouble when it does arise. Her favoured weapons are the pointed hair pins she often wears- though there is usually a dagger or two hidden on her person as an extra precaution.
HISTORY :: Iris doesn’t know why her grandparents abandoned the Kotori clan, for two people raised to never keep a secret- they certainly learned the art of secrecy quickly upon leaving Aldsage with their infant daughter (Iris’s mother). They travelled across all nations, collecting and trading rare items and artefacts amongst other things such as honey and coffee. The early years of their travels passed without incident. They raised their daughter on the open seas, docking only to trade or to acquire new items.
Over the course of their travels, they slowly expanded their collection- gathering a name for themselves as their crew and reputation grew. Eventually they were able to buy their own ship. Their daughter, Iris’s mother, fell in love with one of the deckhands and they had three children who also grew up considering the ship as their home. It was fun, having the run of a ship and a whole crew for a family. However their dealings had begun to earn them enemies as well as friends.
Most of the items and artefacts they traded were fakes, and they knew that- their buyers however did not. At least at first. It had been a scrying orb, essentially a sphere of polished quartz that was rumoured to allow its owner to look past the veil of death and see those who had moved beyond. Perhaps it would have worked if its owner was naturally gifted- however the Tresterian nobleman they had sold it to was not. And he was furious to find this item did not work. He sent his own ships after the ship on which Iris had spent six wonderful years of her life. Despite her young age, Iris still remembers the smell of gunpowder, the lurch of the deck beneath her as it cracked and splintered, and the screaming of the men and women she knew as family. Her mother had lept overboard with Iris and her younger sibling in her arms.
It was only a miracle that prevented the ocean from taking them, divine intervention that brought the pirate ship close enough to spot them- to haul Iris, her mother, and younger sibling up out of the water. However the stress had taken its toll, and Iris’s mother died three days later. The children were raised on the pirate ship, taught the skills to survive though marginally less legitimate means.
She stayed with the ship and its crew until she was eighteen, when an awkward break up made the tension on board too much to cope with. Iris has since paid her way across the world trading rare and valuable items just as her parents and grandparents had. She has no idea that her father and older sibling survived the sinking. She sees her younger sibling on occasion, when their paths cross.
