. N e m e s i s. still had not spoken with Alexandria about her latest vision she recently had. The last time she attempted to, that man had been in the way of her speaking anymore of it. So now that she had a bit of time on her hands, she found her way to the castle, ignoring the guards as they questioned her about her reasons for needing to speak with her. She walked right past them and opened the doors of the castle herself, moving right in. She knew her way around well enough, and she knew she even had an office somewhere in the castle since she was in the council, though she never used it. She had her study in her own manor and preferred to work there. Up the stairs she went, until she came to the woman's door of her office. Gentle knock was set upon it and she waited

Alexandria was inside her office, as usual. There was always so much work to be done, and she kept herself busy with it all. Though she always had time for a visit and welcomed any that wished to speak with her. Sapphire-colored eyes lifted from the papers and books upon her desk and towards the door before she called out. "Come in." Her eyes remained on the door, curious to see who it was that was there.
. R i n g. decorated fingers raised to push open the door and she stepped inside, being sure to shut the door quietly behind her. Without a word, she stepped towards the queen's desk and sunk down into the chair in front of it. "Do you have a moment?" Eyebrow rose before her eyes wandered down to all the work that seemed to swarm the queen's desk. She had forgotten how busy she might have been, and now here she was about to give her some more work to do. She sighed and leaned back in the chair, arms folding over her chest and one leg crossed over the other, underneath the long black dress she wore. Nemesis was tired and had too much on her mind, though she would not complain about any of it. Somehow, she knew Alexandria had been getting less sleep than her, and had more on her mind than she .w o u l d .
To her surprise, it was Nemesis that stepped in. In all the time she had known the woman, Nemesis hardly came to see her unless it was something important. Most of the times they had visited with one another, it was either by accident, or it was outside the castle or her manor. Inside her straight face, Alexandria was smiling at the fact that Nemesis had gone out of her way now to come visit her, although she knew it was about what she had briefly spoken to her about earlier, a few days ago. She quickly began to shuffle up the papers on her desk, shoving them into the folds of the books. "Aye, of course, Nemesis. What can I do for you?"
. N e m e s i s. was not the best friend. Alexandria had done a lot for her before, and was probably the only one that fully understood her. Though it was not as if she made it easy for others to know or understand her. She signed again and then spoke quietly. "I already spoke to you briefly before. I told you I would come speak to you about it, in more detail. So. . . Here I am." Nemesis showed no emotion upon her face as she spoke, piercing green eyes remained focused on the queen. "Usually, I cannot tell the time of my visions and when they are to occur, however, this time, it was quite clear to me, mostly." She paused as the vision came back to her, reminding her of what she had seen and what would happen. And then, a sheer look of annoyance played over her features and she shook her head. "The first time Saelis attacks Avalendor in this war, I saw Brennus falling. They will try to kill him first, knowing that it would leave us without a military commander, and... They will succeed." Eyes closed as another sigh passed through full .l i p s .
She listened carefully to what Nemesis had to say. While some might have believed her visions, and what she had to say was false, Alexandria knew better than to doubt her. Several times before, Nemesis had offered her with wise advice to get her out of things. She had never been wrong about anything she'd come up with before, and she wasn't going to stop believing her anytime soon. The look Nemesis would see upon her face was that of fear and saddness when she was told Brennus was going to be killed. She was speechless, unsure of what to say. Leaning back in her own chair, she lifted her hands and covered them over her face before her fingers moved to rub at her temples. ". . .I hate this, Nemesis. I would be lying to you if I told you I was not scared." She dropped her hands and looked across at her old friend. Almost as if she were expecting some answers, or ways to get rid of what she felt.
. N e m e s i s. felt a knot in her stomach as the silence lingered between the two women. Even still, she could not show any emotion as the queen confessed to her feelings. She would just offer her a nod before speaking quietly. "No one blames you. So stop blaming yourself." Eyebrow rose again and she shook her head. "Listen to me." A quick sigh left her lips again before she continued. "You cannot do anything to stop what is coming. It is here already. Do not tell Brennus what I have told you. It will not save him. All you can do now is plan ahead. Find a commander that will immediately take his place after he falls. Or even have him secretly step up as commander now. But do not let word get around that Brennus will fall. It will bring no good to any of this." There was the faintest of emotion hidden behind Nemesis' eyes and she did not doubt the queen would pick up on .i t .
Alexandria did blame herself. For all of this. If she had just agreed to put her selfishness behind and marry a man she did not trust or love, just to keep war from Avalendor, then none of this would be happening. But then again, perhaps it would have once the new king began to take over Avalendor. No matter what, she always felt this was because of her. If she had just let them execute her in Saelis, maybe they would be leaving Avalendor alone. Maybe all they wanted was her dead. She nodded in understanding to Nemesis, eyes falling to her desk as she stared and wondered what else would happen in this war.
. S h e. narrowed her eyes at her and shook her head. "Stop that, Alexandria." She sat up straight in her chair before she leaned forward, resting her arms on the edge of her desk. "You are not the cause of any of this, and we would have been worse off if you died. As I just said... No one blames you and you need to stop blaming yourself." It was funny how Nemesis could tell what someone was thinking just by watching them. No, she had not read the queen's mind, but others might argue with her that she was capable of doing such a thing. "I have not seen how things will be after the war, but all of us must stay strong and hope for the best. And we need you to get us through this. Your people look to you with hope and with trust. Keep that with you. You have so much to look forward to. Avalendor will be free...And it will finally have a king that they can trust. Just think of these things and they will keep you strong." She forced a reassuring smile before she leaned back against her .c h a i r .
Alexandria was a bit taken back when she spoke, knowing exactly what was on her mind. But she said nothing and only listened to the rest of what she had to say. And she was absolutely right. She loved Thais and trusted him more than any other, besides her brother, and knew he would help her rule Avalendor in the same manner she had been ruling it all along.
But she could sense that emotion hiding behind the dark woman's eyes and frowned. "Nemesis. Are you alright? How are you doing?" Concern rose in her eyes as she studied her closely. She had suspected something had been going on between her and Brennus, catching glimpses once in a while of the two walking or talking together. And she had heard how both of them traveled together to find the allies for Avalendor. She hoped his death would not hurt her too much.
. N e m e s i s. forced another smile and shrugged her shoulders. "I'm fine. No need to worry. He's just a brute of a man, anyway. Who needs him?" She raised a brow and let out an almost sad-sounding, and very faint laugh. And that emotion was quickly drained from her features again. She let out another sigh before standing up. "Well, I'm afraid I must be off. Thank you for speaking with me. I hope what I have said has helped a bit. And should you need anything else, please let me know." She gave her a nod and stepped away from the desk, moving right for the door before anything else could be seen. She would not show her true emotions about this... Not even to Alexandria, not to .a n y o n e .
Alexandria frowned again, watching her. She could tell a lie when she saw one, but she knew the woman would hide it. A nod was given back to her and she offered her a reassuring smile. "Aye, I will. Thank you, Nemesis. I hope the rest of your day is well..." She watched as she walked out and she was left alone with her thoughts once again.
