Dearest Lucian deGrey

My littlest grandson! I hope this finds you healthy and happy and enjoying your Yule. I'm afraid I won't make it home this year, but you are all in my thoughts. How is military island treating you? They've shown you to poke them with the pointy end of that sword right? Between you, Drew, and Wesley you three are never far from my prayers. If I've never told you this, then I guess I shall write it before I get too prideful to say it to you directly. But know this my dear Lucian... Nana is grateful and thankful for everything you do to help keep Tresteria safe. After what happened with your uncle Fredrick, I'm apprehensive about the possibility of another war, so I hope you and your cousin will be smart, and won't be stupid and go and die on us in the event your swords are needed. It's bad enough worrying your brother might drown at sea. I won't be an old woman that outlives her grandchildren you hear me, young man? No dying, or I'll bring you back, dragging you by your ears.

In all seriousness, I am very proud of you Lucian and what you've accomplished. Are they treating you alright over on that island? Feeding you enough? Do I need to send a care package next to fatten you up? I wish to hear about all your time there. Hold nothing back, and let the words flow through you young Lucian!

Be honest with Nana, has the uniform landed you any dates yet? Any ladies catch your eye? You are getting older Lucian, and nearing that age where I get to berate you more and more about marriage. Nana is getting old and would like to see more great-grandchildren. Anyone catch your fancy? Don't be shy, and give me all the details! I must also ask, as you're far quieter about your opinions than your brothers. What do you think of this Mildred for William? I'll tell you like I've told all your brothers, if she hasn't changed by the time I return in summer, I'll end the engagement myself. William deserves better. If not more, especially after Catherine. You boy's all do. You need ladies who are going to love and support you in everything you do. Why your mother allowed such a union I have no idea.

I hope your training hard, and showing the rest of those boys what true deGrey men are capable of. You make us all proud Lucian even if we don't say it always. Train hard, stay safe, and kick ass for Nana. 

I've attached a parcel to this letter with your Yule presents, as well as my forwarding address. I'll be here until it's time to come back for summer, where I hope to see all your bright shining faces. Maybe you can give Nana a sword demonstration at the party?
