Face Claim: Nikola Selezinko
OOC Name: Cassiopeia
CHARACTER NAME: Dove Latimer
AGE: 27
CURRENT RESIDENCE: Tresteria
APPEARANCE: Dove is not nearly as tall as her elder brother; she's only 5'5, and often jokes to Trout that he is secretly half giant. Her hair is darker than his but just as wildly curly, and they share their mother's bright blue eyes. She dresses simply in the uniform of the castle maids most of the time, and since she lives on the grounds as well, she hardly ever bothers wearing anything else. When she does, she has a fondness for light blue.
MARITAL STATUS: Unmarried
FAMILY MEMBERS: Brother - Trout Latimer , Mother - Mary Latimer, Father - John Latimer (Accountant)
POSITION/OCCUPATION: Castle Maid
GRAMARYE GIFT (if any): none
PERSONALITY: Dove often appears quiet and shy due to the simple fact that she can't speak easily with most people. Given the chance, however, Dove is actually quite 'talkative' and is eager to converse with anyone she can. She often feels she has an ocean of words built up inside her that she doesn't know how to share. She has taken to writing down the stories that she invents for herself while she is working.
When she is not working, she can often be seen scribbling away in a variety of notebooks that her brother brings her.
LIKES: the smell of books, reading, writing, people who are willing to speak slowly
DISLIKES: people who shout at her as if that will make her hear them, people who turn away or cover their mouth while speaking, being left out
HABITS: carries a small slate and chalk with her at all times, sometimes signs to herself when she is thinking, avoids new people as much as she can
SELF IMAGE: Dove feels very isolated, even surrounded by people in the castle. Not many people are able to connect with her due to the language barrier. She feels like she is an outsider.
REPUTATION: Dove is known as a hard worker among the servants, and there are a few nobles who prefer to have her clean their rooms or serve their gatherings because they know she can't gossip or tell their secrets.
HISTORY:
Dove is the younger daughter of a nursemaid and an accountant. She was being raised to follow in her mother's footsteps, although when she behaved well she was allowed to sit in on her brother's literature and history lessons which she adored. She learned just as quickly as he did, and soon became obsessed with reading and writing. She was determined to keep up with her brother at every step of the way.
When she was 10, Dove caught an illness that nearly killed her. She was able to survive, thankfully, but the damage to her ears was permanent, and she completely lost her hearing. She was terrified at first, unsure how she could still participate with life around her without her hearing. Thanks to her brother's determination, Dove didn't give up either. He continued to share his lessons with her as best he could, and eventually he discovered sign language that they could use to speak to each other. Together, the two of them learned to sign. Their mother, Mary, learned some basic signs as well, while their father John refused, saying it was too hard.
When Trout became well known enough as a tutor to be requested by the King and Queen for their children, he found a position for Dove as a scullery maid. It was simple enough work, and the other servants could get by communicating with her by simple gestures and pointing at what needed done. She was a hard worker, and she was accepted into the group easily enough.
Dove doesn't mind the work at the castle because it means she can be close to Trout, and she has plenty of time to daydream since it's difficult for others to interrupt her. Most days she follows the same routine and uses her free time to invent wild stories and adventures for herself and her brother.
