ABOUT ROLAND ::
- Roland is the third born son of Godfrey and Annette Savatier. The Savatier family was a rather wealthy family. Godfrey came from a line of nobles that typically owned/led the Savatier troop within Tresteria’s military. It has always been one of the largest and well known troops of the kingdom. When Roland’s grandfather passed, his father stepped up to the Marshall title, taking control over the troop, appointing his eldest son, Louis as his General, who was formerly First Commander . Victor and Roland were working their way up in the ranks as everyone else had to.
- He was determined to make a name for himself in his life, working hard and trying to succeed in everything he did in order to “keep up” with his two older brothers and to avoid living in their shadows. He wanted to be his own person and do good for himself and not just because he was in the Savatier family. While he grew up in a very wealthy and noble home, he never let any of it get to his head or become spoiled by any of it.
- He dedicated most of his life to learning to fight and serve in Tresteria’s army, where he quickly moved up in the rankings due to his persistence, hard work and unwillingness to give up. Roland excelled in anything and everything he put his mind to, becoming a fierce and strong fighter, certainly becoming known to many among the ranks as a mentor and superior as he quickly moved up to commander before his older brother Victor had. (Victor was mostly in the military because he felt obligated to be, but his heart had never been into it.)
- Unfortunately, in war, both his older brothers were killed in battle. It was a huge loss for the Savatier family. Roland’s mother had quickly fallen into a deep depression, heartbroken over the loss of her two sons and after only a month, she killed herself.
- Roland’s father retired from the battlefield, but remained Marshal of the Savatier troop, appointing Roland its new General. He threw himself into his job, ensuring that the men were heavily trained and became an even stronger army. Determined to not lose any of his military brothers. He had already lost too many. Because of his dedication to his job, Roland hadn’t settled down or found himself a wife. He hadn’t even been around his family much. Many of his men teased him that if he could marry a battlefield, he would. He thrived in creating war strategies and executed them as if it were an art.
- His younger brother, Tomas, not wishing to follow the same path his brothers did, left Tresteria, becoming a merchant of the deGrey trading company. He feared death and after seeing so much of it in their family already, wanted nothing to do with the military.
- Roland’s family was slowly diminishing--and it would even more when his younger sister, Clara, died in childbirth. It was beginning to feel as if there were a curse placed on his family.
- Things started to settle down, until he was pursued by Carys Valdare from the Rogue Court. She tried to con him and eventually the two became close friends. It was then that he joined the Rogue Court, figuring it was a way to get underneath Tresteria to learn more and find intel that would ultimately help with military strategies, but he also aided in providing information to the court when it was needed. No one knows of his involvement other than those who are also part of the Rogue Court.
