PERSONALITY :: Arielle is a very spirited and strong-willed woman. She is stubborn and rebellious, always liking to go against the normal expectations of life. It’s incredibly difficult to do this in the Tresterian society, but she refuses to give up on her life and what she wants. She will never give in to what is forced upon her, as she is adamant about being her own person. Although she can have a fiery temperament and attitude, Arielle is kind and will do anything for her son or her sisters, whom she loves with all of her heart. She is thoughtful of others and loves to laugh and make others laugh. She is not afraid of making herself look like a fool if it would help cheer someone up.

ABOUT ARIELLE ::

• Arielle is the second born daughter of the Sellar family. She grew up in the large noble family along with her four other sisters. (Their parents continued to try for a boy, one of which they never had). Her older sister, Ariadne, had always been a mentor and someone she always looked up to and striven to be like. She learned nearly everything from her (aside from what was learned from their tutors, who were a staple in the Sellar household. Arielle was expected to excel in reading, writing, dancing, history of Tresteria and basic math. She also learned to sing and was quite a natural at it.
• When her older sister was forced into an arranged marriage, Arielle feared how her own life would turn out. She did not wish to be “sold off” to some stranger and someone not of her choosing. Their parents had made it quite clear that they would be set up in good marriages to men with money, titles and/or connections, to ensure they had successful lives.
• As she came of age, she was forced to meet various suitors, all of which Arielle would make up excuses for why they were not good matches for her. She would make up lies and stories to tell her parents of things she learned about the man: one was caught up in delusional paranoia, believing he was the real king who was stolen at birth; another was into embezzling money and would steal from their family; one a womanizer and already had a live-in lover; another had a gross rash all over his body that he said was highly contagious and was dying and she would most likely catch it.
• After so many marriage refusals, her parents finally caught on and decided to no longer give her a choice. Arielle then turned to becoming insufferable, causing the suitors to turn down the arrangement, not wishing to marry her. She thought she would be able to get away with this after so many men had turned her down. Arielle decided she would rather live a life alone and to have her independence than to ever marry.
  
• However, the last suitor she had turned away, spoke with her parents and told her of all the things Arielle had done to push him away. They came to realize that she had been playing them and forced her into the engagement with a man by the name of Arthur Marchand. He was from another extremely wealthy family that would ensure she kept her status as a noblewoman. They would be married within the year.
  
• One day Arthur decided to bring her around the city to show her off. Unhappy with this man who she did not feel she could trust, and felt extremely uncomfortable with, she continued her act of being unbearable, embarrassing him in front of his friends. He pulled her aside and showed his true colors to her that night. He beat her in a dark alleyway of a tavern, yelled at her, reminding her that she was to be seen and unheard--that she was nothing and only made to marry and give him children. She would have no life or purpose other than to be his wife and mother to his children. Arielle tried to fight back, but he was a lot stronger than she was, and she had unfortunately, never been taught to fight.
  
• It was at that moment that she met Matthias, her future husband. He stopped Arthur from further attacking and harming her by beating him.  Arielle tried to intervene (somewhat), but Matthias seemed hellbent on making Arthur pay for hurting her.  It was strangely endearing and admirable to her and she appreciated his intervention.  Once Arthur ran off, Matthias offered to walk Arielle home and she couldn't very well say no to a man who had just gotten in a fight trying to protect her without knowing much about her. 
  
• Afterwards, the two developed a friendship, finding excuses to talk and spend time with each other.  Matthias never really let on whether or not he was interested in her or wanted to court her.  He never asked despite how close they grew to one another.  Eventually, it was Arielle who had asked him to court her, to which he agreed.
• A year later, Matthias proposed and they were married.  Not too long after, Arielle gave birth to their first son, Rylan. While she loves her son dearly, she feels that she ended up falling into the life she did not want to be trapped in. While Matthias never makes her feel tied down and trapped, she still feels there is something missing from her life and that she needs to do more.
