It wasn't often Zander received physical affection. At least not from people outside of his family. His sister was different though, she'd been too young to remember much of their father. So she didn't shy away from touch the same way. Though he craved it more than anything. Getting close to Pearce though had been easy. One day they were simply shaking hands to greet each other then suddenly he found himself napping on top of him in his library.
"An invasion of space?" Zander placed his hand over his heart with a dramatic sigh and playful look of betrayal. "It's not my fault your lap happens to be the comfiest place to sit." The place Zander and his sister were living wasn't nearly as high class as Pearces house. They shared a building with multiple other families. All trying to save up money to get a place of their own. That might have been why he liked spending so much time at the nobles house. It felt more like a home than where he was currently staying.
There were a few small puddles on the ground from the sudden rain earlier but nothing too bad. When asked about his sister a soft smile crossed his lips. "Briella is doing fine. She's been making so many friends since she finally got out of her shell." Not that Zander could say much. When they first arrived in Aralore he'd been so skittish and afraid to talk to anyone that he almost hadn't joined the military. Being around other soldiers though and meeting new people had given him much more confidence than he'd ever had before. "She did kick another child the other day but she claims he pulled on her braid so it was deserved."

He still wasn't sure how it had all happened so quickly, but it wasn't a question he lingered on. It was an invasion of space desired by both of them and, in Pearce's estimate, well earned by both of them. It was a fragile relationship as of yet, but it was one he wanted.
First taking a nap on him, then sitting on his lap. Not a stretch, but certainly Pearce questioned Zander's understanding of the word comfort. Well...he supposed he meant it not on a physical level. The nobleman certainly took comfort in Zander's presence just...perhaps not on his lap. "You realize you're as heavy as I am?" he noted. Zander was shorter than he was, but the younger man was much more well built these days.
Aralore didn't have so much division in it's people. They were all citizens. But Pearce's family had been around a long time and even now, in a new home, he was a lot more well off than others. Hence his attempts to employ as many others as he could, to house them, and to give back. He had helped invest in a lot of businesses of the isle, and while it was still a little early to feel a return on those investments, he knew he would eventually. He wasn't too bothered by it.
Pearce nodded. "Friends are good. B-best to learn retaliation isn't the answer," he noted with a slight chuckle. The man didn't much believe in combat in general. Not that soldiers weren't necessary, but he sort of wished they weren't. But even he knew that was naive. "And you? Still interested in becoming a knight?" He asked with a smile. It was something he nudged the boy about quite often.

"My weight didn't seem to be a problem when I was laying on top of you." He teased with a flirtatious smile. To be fair when Zander had first arrived at Aralore he was so skinny and malnourished you could have counted his ribs just by looking at him. He'd been working for so long to get to a point where he wasn't getting sick every single week and was comfortable in his own body, that meant gaining weight. He was proud of how far he'd come, especially since he'd met Pearce as that skinny frail boy after he joined the military.
Fighting was all Zander knew at this point. It was all he was really good at. He was trying to be a good parental figure to his younger sister but he hadn't exactly had the best role model for that. Except for his mother. Thinking of her made him reach for the bracelet that he normally wore on his wrist. Only to remember he'd left it at home to avoid getting it lost or broken during training. When asked if he still wanted to be a knight the redhead shrugged his shoulders. "That's the plan."
Becoming a knight was the first real goal he'd ever had, aside from getting he and his sister to safety. He wanted to make something of himself. Become a better person, someone for Briella to look up to. "Still have a ways to go though. I'm also trying to get an actual place to live for me and Briella but it's hard." He dragged his fingers through his hair with a soft sigh before turning his attention back to Pearce.
"What about you? Any big plans?"

The nobleman blushed and frowned, but he was amused. "Your ass is not comfortable," he said frankly. It was lovely to look at, but Pesrce didn't have enough padding to be an arm chair. Zander was much more filled out than when he had first met the boy. Seeing Zander focused and driven to achieve his goal always made him smile.
He had himself been a competent fighter once. And still was, present health aside. But he had never been a soldier and did not wish to be. He worried a little, attached to the boy that he was, but believed Zander to be a good person amd supported his dreams. "Keep working. You'll get your moment."
On the point of a home for the pair, he had been considering that. "If you like...there is the c-carriage house I could rent you? Until you're a p-proper knight," he was hesitant but also encouraging. He didn't want to push the boy and he certainly didn't want to deprive the boy of earning something with his charity.
Big plans? He shrugged. "Whatever I can to help," he said. It waa his standard answer. He meant of Aralore. The man had done quite a lot to help. From rebuilding at their old home to rebuilding here, to supporting the queen, so secret reacue missions doing something he never wished to again, to teaching. Surely that was enough? But he did want to prove he could do more. Especially in these uncertain times.

"My ass is plenty comfortable, maybe you just haven't touched it enough." He teased with a flirtatious grin. After he spoke a servant led them to the small table that now had their food on it. Zander was content to just eat their food and have a casual conversation when Pearce suddenly invited for he and his sister to come live with him.
The boy blinked in surprise for a moment unsure if he'd heard him correctly. He'd be lying if he said the offer wasn't tempting. He already spent plenty of time at the manor as it was and it would be nice to be able to keep an eye on Pearce. If just to make sure the man took care of himself properly. Had he offered for them to move in for free the boy would have refused out flat. He didn't take hand outs very well. "I...Are you sure? I wouldn't want to be a burden."
It would also be nice to have his sister living a nice life with a garden to run around in and a cat to play with. He'd brought Briella over to Pearces house a few times. Originally it was because he couldn't find someone to watch her while he was being tutored then Pearce began tutoring her as well. She loved the manor, especially loved Breeze.

"Very well," he said, as if relenting to some terribly difficult act. "N-next time, perhaps I can sit on you," he added, tone a bit lighter.
Pearce seated himself at the table and picked at the food while they spoke. It was finely breaded white fish with seasonal vegetables.
It wasn't exactly living with him. And it certsinly wasn't for free. He was often a bit too willing to help people but he understood that Zander and likely his sister, would want to earn their place. But he certainly could provide them opportunity. It also was perhaps a little selfish of him, to want the boy to be closer. Not just for intimate reasons but because he cared about him and his younger sister.
Breeze might not always want a playmate but she did appreciate one on her own time.
"You wouldn't be a b-burden. You'd pay rent. And I am sure other duties if you estimate that to be n-necessary." The carriage house was not empty. But it wasn't a residence at the moment and rather a central hub for the gardener and groom. His carriage driver lived with his wife's family. "J-just think about it," he added quickly, nervous.

"You're allowed to sit on me any time you please." At the mention that he wouldn't be a burden Zander smiled softly and nodded to himself. "I'll talk about it with Briella when I get home." While he was certain she'd be more than excited to move it was still something he wanted to talk with her about before making a decision. She might have been young but it was her life as well.
After they finished eating Zander stood and stretched. "Now, would you like to go on a walk?" He asked with a sweet smile. There was still something else on his mind. A certain lesson that the man had promised to teach him. Though he didn't think it was a very good idea right after eating. At least not for the nobleman. He motioned for Pearce to come with him as he clasped his hands behind his back with a grin.

He was relieved Zander didn't make a decision then and there. Largely because of the boy's sister. But also because Pearce wasn't sure what he would do if the boy actually said yes. At least not right then. He nodded. "Good," he said.
He hadn't eaten much but it was something. In retrospect, bringing up a topic that made him mildly nervous was not a good idea during dinner. Pearce grimaced. A walk. And from Zander's body language, not innuendo. He stood after a moment. "Not really but I have a f-feeling you're going to insist." He too had his mind on a certain lesson. One they hadn't directly broached yet and hopefully would soon.
Pearce led them on a tour of the gardens. Some of the leaves, those in shade, still had rain drops on them. He enjoyed the fresh air and the clear scents of the flowers. He glanced at Zander, his hands clasped behind his back. "Everything alright, Zander?" He asked. Not that the boy was always handsy or needed to be, but there was no need for this level of formality.

"Ah, you would be correct." He stated playfully as Pearce suggested that he would insist on the walk. While he noticed the man hadn't eaten much it was still better than nothing at all. He could also get on to him later to eat more. When asked if he was alright he smiled softly and turned to stand in front of Pearce walking backwards.
"I'm fine." He unclasped his hands from behind his back and stopped under one of the trees. "You just make it awful hard to not want to touch sometimes." Zander may have been a flirt and terribly sarcastic a lot of the time but there was a genuineness to his statement. Despite the playful smile on his lips.

He didnt think he was that terrible at looking after himself. Sure he pushed himself further than he could handle but that wasn't a common occurance. And sure he felt a lot of stress that he talked about and vague heart problems that he didn't but there was nothing particularly recent that had him off one edge or the other. He was just busy working that he...forgot to tale care of himself.
Recently, anyway.
Pearce loved Zander's playfulness and even his cocky attitude to some extent. The backwards walking made him smile. The declaration that he was 'fine' he found less endearing. That was such a vague word. But at his further explanation Pearce understood.
"So why aren't you?" He leveled the words at the boy, devoid of emotion and as simple observation. Meanwhile, Zander stopped at the tree and Pearce pinned him loosely to it, also without touching him. Barely. His hands to either side of Zander's head, his frame more than close to the boy, just before the fabric of their clothes brushed together.

The emotionless tone in Pearces voice was a bit concerning but he didn't have much time to think on that. Zander was more than a little surprised when he was suddenly pinned between the tree and the nobleman. It didn't seem to be anything forceful or aggressive but but it was enough to make his heart flutter in his chest. A soft pink color flushed his cheeks but that playful smile never left his lips.
"Well, someone thought I needed a lesson on personal space." He teased as he barely ran his hands up the mans chest. Just enough to brush against the fabric of his shirt. Zander bit his bottom lip softly as he looked up at him. Refusing to put any actual actual pressure down to do more than run his fingers along the collar of the mans shirt.

He smiled at the slight blush on the boy's face. Maybe he was laying on a little heavy but much like Zander wanted physical contact, Pearce couldn't help it.
"And someone is getting that lesson. Unless he doesn't want it?" He teased in a whisper. Which, coincidentally, was part of the lesson.
He shivered as Zander ran his hands against his clothes but not exactly against him. Zander's touch on him was more than welcome however and to indicate as much he pressed lightly into it.

"Oh? Is this the lesson?" He asked, biting back a snicker. Zander grinned as Pearce leaned into his touch before finally allowing himself to brush past his shirt and run his fingers along the mans collarbone. "I suppose I am more of a hands on learner."
Zander was more than a little desperate for touch and physical affection. That might have been part of the reason he wanted to be so close to Pearce. He'd been so used to hitting and screaming that the first time someone showed him a gentle touch he hasn't known what to do with it. Now though he craved it, needed it. Anything was better than nothing.
"I think I rather like this lesson." He purred as he snaked his arms around the nobles neck. Zander was aware how their relationship might seem to the outside. There was no set lable for it. That wasn't really something the boy was in a rush to figure out though. So long as he could be close to Pearce nothing else really mattered to him.

Well, they could walk. Or they could do something else. Pearce had already made his opinions on walking pretty clear.
"Made you a nightmare to teach letters to," he teased. Not very hands on. But Zander had proved he was astute enough even without his preferred method of learning. Pearce supposed maybe his affections for the boy had made tutoring more rewarding in other ways. But the affection was it's own reward.
Pearce too hadn't always been on the softer side of such things. But he desperately wanted those things now and desperately wanted to share it.
"Good," he rumbled back, leaning into the boy's arms. He pressed a soft kiss against Zander's neck. And then another. His hands shifted from the tree to Zander's shoulders and then lightly down his sides. Pearce couldn't say what he would call it either it. What others would call it. Between them both being men and him so much older than Zander...but he cared about the boy immensely. That mattered more than his other concerns.
"You're too adorable for your own good," he murmured.

"Don't you love a good challenge though?" He asked with a soft chuckle. Learning to read and write properly had been one of Zanders biggest struggles. At least having a good teacher made it easier. When he felt the mans lips on his neck he let out a soft sigh and leaned into the touch.
The comment on him being adorable made butterflies kick wildly in his stomach. Of course Zander was confident in his looks and was regularly told, usually by women. It still felt different when it came from other men though. Particularly different when it came from Pearce. "You're one to talk." He hummed with a smile. He curled his fingers in his hair with one hand as the other moved down his shoulder to rest on his chest.
His head tilted slightly to the side for a moment enjoying the attention to his neck before nudging the other mans head to face him again. "Now who's invading personal space?" He teased softly before brushing his lips against Pearces.
