I'm gonna hit the ground running, hit the ground running
Only waited for the marching drums
I'll be ready when the moment comes
Face Claim: Anna Speckhart
OOC Name: Cassiopeia
CHARACTER NAME: Beatrice (Bee) Smith
AGE: 25
CURRENT RESIDENCE: Tresteria
APPEARANCE: Beatrice is a woman of average height with dark hair and disarmingly blue eyes. She radiates practicality both in her dress and her manner; she doesn't put on airs and she doesn't overdress for work. She is beautiful in an understated way and doesn't flirt or flaunt her looks. In her mind, she has more important things to worry about--like the tea shop she runs with her father. She keeps her hair pulled back out of her face in either a braid or ponytail when working so that it is out of her way and won't end up in anyone's tea.
If spotted outside the shop--which is rare--she will have her hair loose, which is what she really prefers. She can most easily be found looking for second-hand books or arguing with people in the market over ingredients for new tea blends.
MARITAL STATUS: Single
FAMILY MEMBERS: Father: Joseph Smith
POSITION/OCCUPATION: Tasseomancy (Tea Shop) Manager
GRAMARYE GIFT: none
PERSONALITY: Beatrice is a kind and practical person, with a tendency to mother those around her--especially her father. She worries for him a great deal and spends a good amount of time each day trying to get him to work less and let her take on running the shop. She knows how to blend all the kinds of tea, how to measure them for sale, how long to brew the different blends for the best flavor, she keeps the accounts, and manages the tabs. Beatrice could easily be running the shop on her own if he would allow it.
She has a tendency to tell others what to do when she believes that they might be hurt or harmed in some way. She wants to know all the details of any plans that are made, and she often keeps detailed notes on new things that she is learning.
LIKES: tea, citrus fruits, hot baths, autumn weather, warm sweaters
DISLIKES: being looked down on, rude customers, clothes she can't move in, meat that still looks like a creature
HABITS: bites the skin on her lip, drinks at least 3 cups of tea a day, likes to stay up late
SELF IMAGE: Beatrice is a self-assured young woman and can be very businesslike when the occasion calls for it. She is absolutely certain that her father should retire and let her run the shop. She feels that she can't just marry away from it, because it's been in the family for generations. She's determined to continue that legacy.
REPUTATION: Beatrice is known for being quiet but kind, and having the best recommendations for tea when you aren't sure what to get. She also sneaks extras into customers' bags if they are regulars.
Don't you know your pain is mine?
And I would die a thousand times to ease your mind
To ease your mind
HISTORY:
Beatrice is the only child of Joseph and Mariah Smith. Her mother died in childbirth, and her father raised her. The two of them are quite close, despite the way they appear to bicker. They love each other to pieces.
Growing up in the tea shop, Beatrice is well educated on all things tea. She isn't quite as likely to ramble on about it as her father is, however. She has put a lot of energy into trying new herbal and fruit blends, and she is very proud of her work. Her father thinks it is nonsense and dislikes her experimentation, but he lets her sell her blends in the shop as well. Her creations do well--most of them! Some attempts have ended in bitter failure, and he loves to bring up the epic citrus blend she tried that just tasted like it was trying to dissolve your mouth with acid.
Beatrice has also incorporated real tasseomancy into the decor of the shop, with little guides on how to read your tea leaves hung on the walls, and divination tea cups available to purchase.
Joseph is getting older, and he has started to get worn out and sick much more easily in the last few years. Beatrice has been able to take on more and more duties at Tasseomancy, but he refuses to let her run the store without him around. At most she is alone for a few hours at a time when he is taking a nap or running errands.
