APPEARANCE: A tall, curvy singer with a small waist and a bust that several people have commented must be fake (it's not). Her hair and eyes are both brown so dark that they are almost black. She dresses to accentuate her figure and in gaudy costume-like clothing whenever she is performing. She is usually seen hanging all over her male patrons. She plays up the dramatic, diva persona.
Outside of work, she looks much softer--she wears no makeup and everyday clothing, and her demeanor is changed to a somewhat motherly, pragmatic personality.

PERSONALITY: Saffron is a sarcastic, somewhat pessimistic woman, although she insists that she is 'just a realist, darling.' She believes that the best way to get what she needs in life is to become what people expect a singer to be: loud, dramatic, sensual, and promiscuous. She lets people see what they want to see, and it has given her the means to take care of herself. She doesn't feel guilty about it.
At a young age, Saffron learned that people lie, and her life and her family were ripped away from her by scandal. She is extremely resentful of society's expectations of noblewomen, and generally thinks that life is unfair. She doesn't trust people easily because of this.
HISTORY:
In a past life, before she became Saffron, she was Norah Lavransdatter, daughter of a baron in Teronna. When Norah was 18, she fell head over heels in love with an married man. The two of them started an affair which lasted for about a year before they were caught--when Norah's pregnancy started to show. Her family threw her out of the house, and her lover refused to help her. She sold what little she had for money to stay in a boarding house, and became a singer to continue to pay her rent.
Saffron, as she has re-named herself, has been growing in skill and popularity since then. She cares for her son, Patrick, during the day, and performs at parties, taverns, fairs, and festivals whenever she can get the jobs. Her son is remarkably self sufficient for an 11-year-old, and swears more than his mother.
These days she can afford to rent a small cottage for herself and her son, near the castle, so that the two of them have somewhere safe to live rather than a succession of inns and boarding houses. When she knows she will be gone for several days, she hires a babysitter to stay with Patrick.
