Face Claim: Diana Silvers
OOC Name: Cassiopeia
CHARACTER NAME: Cressida Laurel Page
AGE: 24
CURRENT RESIDENCE: Tresteria
APPEARANCE: Cressida is thin to the point of being somewhat bony, and looks almost as if she has been ill. She has dark circles constantly under her brown eyes, making it evident she has not slept well in some time. Her brown hair used to have a bit of wave, but of late it falls limp around her face as she has not taken time to care for it. Her skin still carries the natural glow she inherited from her mother, despite the fact that it hasn’t seen much sun in the last year.
Her gaze seems somewhat distant much of the time as if she isn’t entirely aware of her surroundings and is actually looking at something else.
She has a large scar across the left side of her collarbone and one on the edge of her right jawbone. The two line up and appear to be part of the same arc/blow.
MARITAL STATUS: Engaged
FAMILY MEMBERS: Mother: Jeanne (Deceased) Father: Patroclus (Deceased) Aunt: Caroline Uncle: Achilles Cousins: Hercules and Antigone.
POSITION/OCCUPATION: Noblewoman
GRAMARYE GIFT (if any): Preservation. Inherited through her mother, who was native to Teronna. Her mother’s gift was more for preserving stories--she would remember any tale told to her and recorded many oral stories into text, even years after she had initially heard them.
Cressida’s gift is the preservation of life--both her own and others’. It is more by instinct and willpower than by skill, but if she wishes to save someone who is dying, she can prolong their life for a period of time by forcing them into what is essentially a medically induced coma; the person’s heart rate and breathing slow to a barely noticeable point, and bleeding will also slow thanks to this. If the person then received medical treatment for whatever injuries they had sustained, they would be able to recover.
When it comes to herself, her body will shut down similarly if she is pushed to her limits or is otherwise wounded in what would be considered a ‘fatal’ blow that does not instantly kill her.
PERSONALITY: Cressida is a headstrong, fiery young woman--or at least she was until the death of her parents just over a year ago. She had become silent and skulking since then, wandering her aunt and uncles’ home like an ominous ghost. She refuses to sleep and refuses to say why only sleeping when her body forces her to. She hasn’t given up her art entirely, although her drawings have become strange and dark. She has become extremely apathetic and just goes through the motions. She didn’t even argue with her arranged marriage.
Prior to her parents’ death, she was a very argumentative person who enjoyed challenging others’ beliefs and opinions simply for the sake of an interesting debate. She loved reading, art, and poetry. She even wrote her own (often terrible) poetry about her life. She had a fondness for fresh flowers in the house and often hummed while she was drawing or reading.
LIKES: books, firelight, hot tea and coffee, the smell of cinnamon, wearing silky fabrics, having charcoal all over her hands when she works on her art
DISLIKES: small talk, knives, the smell of blood, surprises
HABITS: pacing, wringing her hands, not sleeping, reciting poetry when she is bored
SELF IMAGE: Cressida trends towards confidence, she thinks her art and her writing are good, and she recognizes that she looks like her mother, who was beautiful, so she must at least be pretty. She hasn’t been taking good care of herself since her parents’ death, though, and frankly doesn’t care what happens to her.
REPUTATION: Cressida was known previously as a patron of the arts, she sponsored artists, musicians, and poets. She threw lavish parties at Weatherford Hall, her family’s home.
RUMORS:
- Cressida Page murdered her parents last year.
- They found her covered in blood still holding the knife. No one knows why she wasn't arrested.
- She never speaks.
- She never sleeps.
- She attacked one of the servants in her Aunt and Uncle's home after they took her in.
- Her parents were demon worshippers.
- She might be possessed by an evil spirit.
- Madness runs in the Page family line.
HISTORY: Cressida is the daughter of two rather strange nobles, a poet and a historian. Her mother was originally from Teronna, and carried with her the tales of myth and magic from the formation of that land. Her father, Patroclus Page, came from an old Tresterian noble family with a fixation on old mythology and heroism. They raised their sons to be politicians and strategic geniuses, hoping to support the military and government of the land and eventually join their family with the royal line. Despite their lofty goals, however, the family has been plagued with darkness and insanity.
Cressida lived a fairly normal childhood, raised by a nurse, and nurtured on stories and drama by her bookish parents. They indulged her with fairytales and myths, guiding her to believe the world was a magical place. They encouraged her to write poetry and make art of her own. Despite their best attempts at a second child, Jeanne never became pregnant again, so they poured all their doting energy into Cressida.
When Cressida was of marriage age, she attended balls and events but found that most people bored her. They found her strange and arbitrary, even more so than her parents, and she soon retreated from public events and preferred to host her own little gatherings with poets, artists, singers, and the like. Her parents encouraged this as well.
About two years ago, Patroclus Page began to grow...strange. He withdrew more and more to his office over the next year, obsessing over texts referencing demons, angels, and the end of the world. He became more and more fixated, believing that he must prevent the end of the world and that someone was out to stop him. It got to the point where he dismissed all the servants, leaving his wife and daughter to try and run the household themselves, and rejecting any doctor they tried to bring in to see him. Next, he turned on them, claiming they had betrayed him and served evil forces, that they were possessed.
One year ago, Cressida Page was found in the foyer of the family home, covered in blood, holding a knife. Her parents had been murdered.
The full facts are not known to the public, but after being questioned by investigators, Cressida was released into the care of her Aunt Caroline and Uncle Achilles. She has lived with them for the last year, and they are the ones who arranged her marriage to @gaeton.
