Face Claim: Elizaveta Shmeleva
OOC Name: Cassiopeia
CHARACTER NAME: Faith Green
AGE: 25
CURRENT RESIDENCE: The Fortune's Raider
APPEARANCE: Faith is tall (5'9) and thin, partly by genetics and partly because she has never truly been well fed or nourished. Her wild curls are hard to restrain, and even if she braids her hair tightly they will still escape. She has gotten used to wearing heavy makeup while working as a prostitute, and without it she looks like an entirely different woman. Someone who had met her while she was working as "Desiree" would likely not recognize Faith.
MARITAL STATUS: unmarried
FAMILY MEMBERS: Estranged
Mother: Amy
Father: John
Older Brothers: James, Arthur
Older Sister: Mary
Younger Sisters: Elizabeth, Belinda, Jane
Younger Brother: Michael
POSITION/OCCUPATION: Soon-to-Be Pirate on The Fortune's Raider
GRAMARYE GIFT: none
PERSONALITY: Despite a difficult transition to independence, Faith is a dependable and loyal person. Old habits die hard, and at the brothel she fell into the same position she had at home: a mini mother who cares for those who need it. Thankfully the girls were just as tight-knit as her family and most of them would do the same for Faith if she'd ever admitted she needed help. Unfortunately, Faith is of the mind that she ought to be entirely self-sufficient and that to let anyone else care for her would be folly. When faced with pity she will react with indignant anger more often than not. Instead, she faces life with a kind of sarcastic humor and steady calm that helps keep those around her grounded as well.
Of course, there are still a few girls in the bunch who thought that Faith was a stuck up b*tch, but she won't sink to their level or join in on fights. Instead, she bats them away with a quiet remark or stern look. It was simple for her to outwit their childlike cattiness, and she had more important things to focus on.
She has been dreaming of escaping her current life for years now and is finally ready to take the chance.
When left to her own devices, Faith enjoys embroidery (often adding beading to her or the other girls' outfits), singing, and walking near the sea.
Faith is extremely confident in her appearance and has learned to use her body to her advantage in her new line of work. She sees no shame in being sexual and has decided that she won't live by society's petty rules about it.
HISTORY: Faith was born into a home already filled with screaming children. As with most of the younger children, she grew up with her older siblings parenting her more often than her usually-pregnant mother. The siblings were close-knit and cared deeply for one another, always spending their days together and sharing beds at night. It wasn't until the boys left the home that things took a turn for the worst. Their mother was pregnant and ill, so Mary and Faith spent days alternately caring for her and working to bring home money to feed the younger ones. Mary married, and her mother recovered after birth. With her schedule open, but still, too many mouths to feed, fourteen-year-old Faith took to working full time. She worked in a few inns and taverns first, before moving into more respectable work as a servant. She worked with a local woman first, who was a dictator in the house but treated the young girl well and gave her sterling references when she moved away three years later, leaving the girl to find a new job. It was during this time that Faith was lured away from home by a man she met while working in the kitchens in another aristocrat's home.
Chaos ensued.
Faith will not discuss what took place, all she will say is that she no longer has silly dreams above her place in life. The other girls from the brothel suspect that the man who ruined her is a nobleman who promised to marry her. All they know for sure is that he was still a customer there, but he never chose Faith. Instead, he slept with girl after girl, making them the same promises he made to her.
Faith was a prostitute for five years, after being rejected by her family because of the scandal. She didn't always like the work, but it gave her a living and a place to sleep, and not all the men are pigs. She appreciated the ones who just needed a bit of affection because they aren't happy either. She had a few loyal patrons who doted on her, but they weren't wealthy enough to get her out of the business--or at least they claimed that they weren't.
No one from Faith's past knows where she is now or what she was doing for a living. Her family sent her away because they couldn't afford to keep her, and they couldn't afford the public reaction to what had happened, not because they hated her. She does her best to keep her head down when she's out of the house, making sure that she doesn't make any connections with people who might recognize her.
Over the last five years, Faith saved up enough money to buy a wardrobe of more practical clothing and a sword of her own. She convinced a few patrons to teach her how to use the weapon. She now feels she is ready to move on and truly start fresh.
