APPEARANCE: Grace is a tall (5'8) thin young woman with dark brown hair and eyes. Her hair is naturally curly, and she typically wears it down or pulled out of her face into a low ponytail. She dresses simply, preferring comfort and practicality most of the time, although she relishes the opportunity to dress up when it arises. She can often be seen either carrying or holding the hand of one of her young nephews.
Grace has an open smile and cheerful demeanor and will smile at anyone who meets her gaze on the street. She often twirls her hair around her fingers when nervous or thinking things through.

POSITION/OCCUPATION: babysitter/teacher to nephews, lives with her elder brother
GRAMARYE GIFT: none
PERSONALITY:
Grace is a kindhearted woman with a passion for family. She has always worked hard to be useful to her siblings and now to her nephews, and they are the most important things in her life. She dreams of one day having a family of her own to care for. She would work herself to the bone for her family simply because she enjoys doing so--much of her self-worth is derived from knowing that her family relies on her. She has little expectation of being 'repaid' and is only looking for praise and affection.
Due to the early loss of her parents, she is quite envious of those who are close with their parents and has put the idea of being a mother on a bit of a pedestal. She sees family as the most important thing, and wants a family of her own, but she hasn't pursued marriage for herself because she spends most of her time caring for her brother and his two sons. She doesn't take much time for herself.
Essentially, Grace lacks a sense of self. She sees herself primarily in terms of what she can do for others, particularly her family. She sees taking time for herself or pursuing things that are fun as being selfish. She feels somewhat trapped by her life, but stifles that feeling because she thinks it is disloyal.
In her free time, Grace enjoys sewing, and she has made several quilts for the family. When the weather is nice and no one is paying attention, she likes to sneak out and climb trees, just to sit there, watch the world, and think.
Oh, I know that you've been around
But hear me now, I'm crying out
Let me be the light upon the lake
LIKES: children, animals, sewing, hugs, walking in the woods, climbing trees, a sense of adventure
DISLIKES: being indoors for too long, not being taken seriously, when people are upset with her and won't say why
HABITS: cleans when anxious, overprotective of family, self-sacrificing (assumes her needs are less important)
SELF IMAGE: Grace doesn't see herself as attractive nor does she put much effort into her appearance other than being clean and well kept; she has never had a romantic relationship and typically thinks of herself as a sister/mother rather than focusing on self-identity
REPUTATION: Grace has a reputation for being an "absolute sweetheart" but the other women worry because she is always daydreaming and busy. More than one of them has tried to work out something to get her married off, but people tend to balk because of Malcolm, and because of Grace's apparent disinterest.
HISTORY:
Grace's parents died when she was 13, leaving her in the care of her elder brother Malcolm. He worked hard to care for her and her sister, and she admired that dedication. As she grew up, she worked hard to be a help rather than a burden, taking on any responsibilities she could around the house, helping with his children, caring for him when he is injured, anything she can do to be useful. She knows that he comes off as gruff and intimidating to others, but she knows that he would do anything for her and his sons.
When Malcolm married she really struggled with her self worth and her place in the house since she saw Talia as now being the 'woman of the house' and she didn't know what to do with herself. She settled for just being useful and being careful not to be bossy or in the way. The two were never close, although Grace did her best to keep things friendly between them.
When Talia left, and Malcolm was shaken, Grace stepped up as a kind of surrogate parent to her nephews, making sure they were well cared for. She loves spending time playing and talking with the young boys, and is also teaching them to read. She finds that she is happiest when she is able to spend time taking them out on hikes and adventures, reading with them, playing, and generally wearing them out for the day.
