Everything was happening so quickly that Kaia hadn't noticed the blood all over her yet. She was getting up from the ground and searching for another escape route as Raif took on their new threat, slicing him open.
They were so close to the docks, but where would they even go? They didn't have a ship, a crew, or anything to escape with. They could only hide and hope to not be followed and found again.
When Raif yelled to run, she hesitated at first, making sure he would be following behind her. She grabbed hold of his hand and started running into the crowd, weaving in and out of people aiming to hopefully blend in better. Once they were deep into the crowd, she stopped running, so as not to bring attention to themselves as the only two running through a crowd. She swiped a shawl off another woman, so carefully, that she didn't even notice the shawl was missing. Kaia quickly threw the shawl over her head to hide her hair and face from anyone who may easily recognize or be looking for a woman of her description.
Once they got closer to the docks, she stopped and turned to Raif. "What do we do?"

Finding a ship, naturally, was easier said than done. They barely had any coin for passage, but it was the only way off of this rock. At the very least, he silently hoped that he could get Kaia in safely with a crew; he could always find a way to follow after.
Still gripping the bloody knife, he allowed Kaia to lead him into the crowd. The two of them stood out, even at an outpost infested with vagabonds and pirates, but she was already concealing herself with an acquired shawl. Raif on the other hand, didn't have that luxury, nor did he really care. He was tired, thus he was annoyed and angry, and a part of him hoped that someone tried to pick another fight. That blade-wielding hand was twitchy.
"Just keep moving," he answered her. "Get to the docks and find a ship." The real question was, would there even be a crew willing to take them on? As they set foot onto the docks, still busy with people, his bright eyes scanned the various ships nearby. Some were even anchored a mile off shore, but crews were hauling cargo crates into rowboats to bring them over. Briefly, he thought about sneaking aboard one of them, but wasn't sure that was the best of ideas.

Who could they even trust right now? How would they know they weren’t running into Rathmore's crew? She had no idea where to look or who to approach right now. Were they trapped? And did she have blood on her hands? Why did she have blood on her hands? She moved towards the docks, constantly looking behind her to make sure Raif was following behind her. Finally, when she had the chance, she crouched down behind some crates, pulling him down with her. Kaia held her hands out showing Raif. "What the hell happened?! Why am I covered in blood?" She was starting to freak out. She had no idea where all this blood had come from. They really needed to get out of here.

That was the very problem- they couldn't trust anyone, but they didn't have much of a choice in the matter right now. He was quick to follow close behind, crouching when she did, only to regard her with bright, confused eyes. "You do not remember?" There wasn't time for this, but her surprise was beginning to frighten him. She didn't need to answer his question, because her face said it all.
His mouth opened to speak, but he refrained. Now was not the moment to try and explain it, especially when he didn't even understand it. It had been her- no, it had been someone else with her face. This sickness was getting worse with each day, and Raif didn't know how to tell her. "Kaia-" he started, pressing a hand to one of her bloodied cheeks, but the sound of heavy boots against the wooden boards had him looking towards the crowd. Someone had given directions to a couple of Rathmore's crew, and they were spotted.
"Fuckin' shit!" Raif muttered. How many of them were there? "Get ready to run." There was tired warning in his voice as he, once again, took her hand...and then bolted in the opposite direction. Weaving through the people, practically dragging her behind him, ships on all sides of them.
In truth, he didn't know where to go, didn't know which one to beg for safety from...and the end of the dock was swiftly approaching. He looked back behind him at the right time, for one of the men was aiming his flintlock and pulled the trigger. Raif was already moving when he saw the spark, shoving Kaia in front of him just as they made it to the edge. "Jump!" Suddenly, they were airborne for a few seconds before dropping into the ocean with a loud splash. His goal had been to swim beneath the docks, but the moment he tried, he felt the sharp pain in one of his shoulders. The lead ball had embedded itself into his flesh.

Panic rose within her caramel-colored eyes when he questioned that she did not remember what had happened. She looked into his eyes as he almost began to explain what happened--but once again, it was time to run. She was growing tired and didn't know how much longer she could run for. But they were off again.
She followed behind Raif (or rather she was being half-dragged by him) until she heard the gunshot and Raif was pulling her in front of him. The edge of the dock was right there under her feet and suddenly, she was falling, crashing into the waters. She swam under the water, quickly turning to see where Raif was, the salty water stinging at her eyes, but that was when she saw the blood coming from him. Or was it the blood washing off of her? She swam over to him and grabbed hold of his hand as she came to the surface just under the dock. Kaia pulled him up with her and noticed then, that he had been injured. A deep breath was sucked in through her lips and she whispered to him. "Raif... You were hit... We need to get you out of here..."
Heavy footfalls sounded above their heads. One of the pirates were questioning where they had gone, and spotted the blood in the water. They were either stupid and would walk away...or they would think to check underneath them very shortly.
Kaia held tightly to him, her face just inches from his, but her eyes were focused up on the bottom of the dock as she strained to listen to the nearby voices. Her lips moved, but no sound escaped as she mouthed the words 'go away..' She didn't want to run anymore. She looked back at Raif and placed her forehead against his. She was exhausted, but glad they were in this together. The footsteps began moving again and Kaia heard a voice.
"Are ye lookin' for a man and a woman who were runnin' around?"
Kaia's eyes widened as she stared at Raif, clutching to him as if the closer she was to him, that perhaps it would make her disappear into him. The man responded and questioned if he had seen them.
"Aye... They ran off that way..." The man thanked him and the sound of running footsteps began moving away from them.
Kaia breathed a sigh of relief. Whomever covered for them was a saint.

Faith glanced at her newfound friend, Kalypso , and raised an eyebrow as the two shared a look. They agreed, it seemed--they weren't going to give up the frantic looking pair who had just run past them and leaped into the water to escape. She stepped forward, ready to take the lead as the distraction. Day one as a pirate, and already she was getting herself into trouble. How lovely. No use whining, though, it wasn't as if she was going to just give up because the men running towards her were bigger than her. She'd put up with their type enough to know they wouldn't think of her as a serious threat, to begin with. Better to use that to her advantage. She put on her best wide-eyed look of distress as the pursuers stampeded towards her. "Are ye lookin' for a man and a woman who were runnin' around?" She asked, sounding breathless and shocked. "We are. A pair of thieves, they are, and they stole something from our captain. Did you see which way they went, lass?""Aye, they ran off that way!" She exclaimed, pointing, "You only just missed them, hurry!"The man grunted a lame excuse for gratitude and took off. Faith watched them with her hand pressed to her heart, her false distress lasting for three... two... one... Once they had vanished out of sight, she then turned to the other redhaired woman with her hands on her hips. "That's not going to keep them for long," she warned, "We need to hurry."

Kalypso gave a smile and a tilt of her head to Faith to the men who were hunting down the pair, the other redhead moving to look like she was relacing her boot while her friend dealt with the men. She rolled her eyes some but looked at the water and saw a bit of red in the waters. Her lips pursed together as Faith managed to send them on a goose chase- good job!
"No it won't, untie the ropes I'll get them and get ready to just shove off, sound good?" Kalypso asked her, hoping she'd be in agreement as she actually slipped from her shoes and handed them to Faith, "Well, time to get wet," she said with a bit of playfulness and a grin as she made her way to share a rope ladder was rolled up and pushed it off and over the side carefully so it wouldn't splash.
The woman would carefully climb down into the waters and hold her hand out to the pair, "Come on, ships getting ready to shove off," Kalypso told them as she would pull herself up to check the docks again before going back into the waters and urging them both to hurry. She did take note of both of them and the wound, it made her grimace a little- looks like she'll get her first scalawag of a patient today.

How many times was he going to get shot today? The salted water stung at his fresh wound, and he was hissing and gasping for air when he broke the surface. Fortunately, he didn't have to frantically look for her, because she was already there, fretting over him. That was when he truly realized what had happened, and the son-of-a-bitch was still lodged in his shoulder; he could feel it every time he tried to move his arm. Shaking his head at her words, he simply drew her closer to him; keen eyes found the docked ship not too far from them, but to move now would alert their pursuers.
But there was a voice from above, saying something. Near exhaustion already, he only vaguely heard the words spoken, but noticed when the thundering footsteps upon the wood above began to grow distant.
Exhausted was putting it lightly. Now, having to tread water and stay silent, he realized how sore every muscle in his body was, and that he wouldn't be able to go on for much longer. However, as Kaia clung to him, he knew he'd not go down until he was drawing his last breath. No matter how much it hurt.
Shutting his eyes with her forehead against his, he tried to concentrate on keeping his strength. He concentrated on her breathing instead of his own jagged breaths, the warmth of her against him in the cold water instead of his twitching muscles. Blues only opened into slits to look up when he heard another voice nearby, shifting to regard the redhead with her hand extended outwards. Raif knew there was little time to argue, and the woman looked harmless enough. For now.
After only another moment of deliberation, he carefully began to urge Kaia towards Kalypso. They needed to get off of this outpost and quickly. He nodded silently to Kaia to assure her; he still had a knife on him if things went sour, and was prepared for anything, regardless of the lead ball lodged in his shoulder.

After a moment, a head popped into view; the young man leaning over the ship's railing. "Oi?! What's takin' ye girls so long?" he called down to the two redheads who had disembarked to get supplies. How fortunate for the crew to have not one, but two ginger-haired lovelies. Butcher was probably feeling...well, let's not go there. It made him shudder to think about.
The sun was high up in the sky, silhouetting him as his eyes found Kalypso lowering herself down from the docks. It didn't take him long to spot the newcomers underneath from where he was, one of them seemingly injured. Disappearing briefly, Billy Bones, the Quartermaster, appeared upon the lower deck near the rope ladder of the ship. He looked panicked, to be truthful, because he was currently in charge as their captain slept off a drunken stupor in his cabin. What in the world were these girls doing?!
Butcher was going to have his head for this. And he rather liked where his head currently was.

Kaia nervously and quietly listened to the voices above them, but she was more concerned with staying quiet and keeping hold of Raif. He was injured and surely exhausted. He was losing blood, which may also attract the sharks if they did not get out of the waters quickly.
The woman's voice behind her startled her and she quickly turned, keeping her grip tightly on Raif. Light brown eyes widened out of fear at first, but when she saw the woman's hand outstretched, she narrowed her eyes and looked at her curiously. Could she be trusted? Was she the one that sent Rathmore's crew off in the wrong direction? She studied her cautiously, but before she could say anything, Raif was urging her to go.
Without speaking, Kaia extended one of her hands out, grasping onto Kalypso's, her other hand still held onto Raif's, dragging him along with her as they made their way out from under the docks. "Thank you," she finally spoke quietly, nodding to Kalypso with a look of gratitude.

Faith had done as Kalypso suggested and hurried up onto the ship and then down below decks where she'd seen Billy headed, calling out to each person she met that they needed to be ready in a hurry, although her sing-song tone might have been a little counterproductive. Still, she got their attention easily enough, and they didn't seem to mind that she was sharing the information.
Finally, she spotted the man she was looking for. "Billy!" she crooned, "There you are. We seem to have found two more new hires for you! I'm sure they'll be a perfect fit." She grinned at him as she made her announcement, set her hands on her hips, and threw in a wink for good measure. She knew he probably wasn't going to see things her way right away, but she wasn't concerned. She felt she could handle Billy if needed. Not by force, obviously, but there was more than one way to get things done.
"There might be just a tiny catch--some pretty scary looking thugs were after them a minute ago. We didn't like the looks of them, so Kaly and I covered for our new friends. Something tells me they're going to have an interesting story to tell."

Kaly gave the man a bit of a sweet smile, just to show she was friendly, “We’ll get you taken care of soon but let’s not drown first, eh?” she said with a chuckle as she would reach and help Kaia to the ladder before popping up and hearing a rather familiar voice, “Nothing Bones, nothing to worry about at all, it’s just what Faith said, new hires,” she told him with a little smile.
“No problem, I’ll get your boy fixed up on the ship but just hurry on to Faith,” she urged her as she would give a helpful nudge up the rope ladder until she was on the dock.
Now was the injured one, “Alright bud, don’t use that arm alright? You’ll make it harder on yourself,” she advised as she would lean out and reach for him and if he let her, just drag him through the water to the top ladder. Kaly would move her body so that he could climb it without her on it, “Aye I look forward to hearing this story but first on the ship and Faith love, can you lead the wounded bird to my room? I have my kit in there,” she asked her with a sweetness to her tone. She held no fear about what Bones might say, she was a doctor and even if he balked at the new 'hires' she would fight him on getting them on board. She could heal this man up right as rain but it was impossible here.
"Faith, do you see them yet or we still in the clear?" Kalypso asked her as she would wait for Raif to get on the docks before pulling her soaked self out. The redhead didn't mind getting a little wet, it was all part of the job as she pulled the ladder up and would encourage the soaked pair up the ramp to the ship, "Bones, can I have your shirt please?" she asked, a playfulness in her tone as her own was quiet wet and sticking to her feminine assets- also was a small ploy on her part to distract him from what was going on.

Butcher was going to kill him. He just was. Billy knew it in that very moment when he caught sight of Faith's smile. It spelled his doom right then and there. He should start saying his prayers and telling everyone goodbye now.
Fuckin' redheads.
"Ooooh, ye have, have ya?" he said sarcastically as he regarded her. She was trying to placate him, throwing in a wink on top of it all...and it might have worked if he wasn't suddenly afraid for his damn life. Still, he stood there almost dumbfounded, unsure of how to handle any of this right now.
Finally, he was on the move, barking out orders for the crew to disembark as fast as possible, considering their two newcomers might have some "friends" on their tails. Oh yes, Butcher was definitely going to kill him. He rounded back on Faith after he drifted close to the ramp where Kaly was helping the two. "Then it'll be yer job to figure out what that story is." Once Billy got a sight of the injured man down below, he couldn't help but feel like he wasn't going to be so willing to spill all the details. "Also-" The young pirate paused, looking around briefly before those bright eyes settled upon her again, and he was trying really hard to remain authoritative. He was probably failing, though, and she'd probably see right through it. "If Butcher kills me, I'm...I'll fuckin' haunt ye 'til the rest of yer days, got it?" Well, it sounded more imposing in his head.
"So I've been told!" he called out to Kalypso, rolling his eyes then. He would wait to help Kaia over to the ship, in which he would do the same for Raif when the man was able to. Oh yeah, he was a lot bigger up close, with a scowl that made it very clear that he probably didn't play nice...
Oh yes, this was great. Fuckin' redheads.
Once everyone was on board, the crew already had the anchor up and were preparing to steer the ship from the docks. When Kaly was talking to him, he was regarding her in annoyance, thinking he hadn't heard her correctly. "Sorreh, what?" Stupidly, accidentally, those eyes trailed down to her ocean-soaked chest and it was certainly distracting. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he prayed that Jonathan wasn't around, but the man was the last thing on his mind in that fleeting moment.
Clearing his throat, he forced himself to look away. "No," he finally managed to stammer out in a sudden moment of confidence. It probably wouldn't last that long, though, but...point for Billy Bones!

There was only a brief sigh of relief when Kaia let go, but those cold eyes watched Kalypso carefully before flickering up towards what he could see of the ship docked right there. Others on the crew had spotted them, and he was silently weighing his options. He prayed to the gods that Kaia would be alright, because he knew he would die if he had to start breaking bones again.
Still holding onto her hand, he only let go when she was climbing up the ladder. He'd need his good arm to tread water until he was able to grab hold of the ladder. The stranger was warning him to be careful with that arm, but truth be told, it was going to be tricky trying to climb up without using it too much. It was like fire in his shoulder, but he nodded to her if only to be somewhat polite (and grateful) before making the slow climb. Once on the docks again, he was right behind Kaia as she boarded the ship, his attention drifting towards Billy immediately.
Raif said nothing, unsure of what to say, but he often left that up to Kaia. Right now, the Akasian was just trying to stay upright, which felt a little impossible on a softly rocking ship.

Something was going on. With the sound of Faith singing that they needed to go, and then Billy's voice barking orders. Everyone was getting a move on, and it had pulled Jasper's attention from where he'd been reading in his bunk. He stuck the apple he had been slowly munching on his mouth, and wiggled out of the hammock. Nearly falling on his face, he quickly righted himself before he stuck his head out into the hallway, and made his way up top.
His thumbs were hooked on his suspenders as he practically skipped, and nearly face planted as he saught the one with the answers. Finding Billy was easy enough to find. In fact, Jasper could find anything. Jasper spotted him and Faith. He instantly perked up wondering if Kaly was around anywhere. All these pretty new ladies joining? Deciding to be a sailor had most certainly been one of his best ideas.
"Faaaaaithy!!!!" Jasper called, though it sound like "MAAAAAAFEEEEEHEEE" With the apple stuck in his mouth. He skipped over, landing with a hop right next to her. He took a bite out of the apple and kept his other hand around his suspenders. "What's goin on?" He asked, as his hazel eyes flickered from Faith to Billy, and then to the new people suddenly boarding. His eyes about shot out of his head, and he shifted his wait at seeing the scary man being helped aboard, and he looked curiously at the smaller woman. What he really was staring at was the dripping wet goddess who most certainly needed a shirt.
Jasper started to choke on the bite of apple, "W-wh-waddya m-mean NO?!" he coughed, glaring those hazel eyes of his at Billy. How could he deny the lady's request! Kaly and Faith were apart of the family now! They had to be protected from lecherous eyes! Especially if they were we and their clothes were clinging to their lady bits! Their very...very...nice, lady bits. Sticking his apple in his mouth Jasper shot Billy an accusatory look as he began unbuttoning is own shirt, and pulled it out of his britches. Revealing Jasper's rather...slender...only slightly muscular figure. "Here Kaly, you can have my shirt." Jasper told her offering it up. "What is wrong with you?" Jasper mouthed to Billy. "Do you want other people to ogle her?!" He mouthed again. A realization that maybe Billy didn't give her his shirt just so he could ogle her, hit Jasper and his glare only intensified. Using his scrawny bean pole body to shield her from view. He stuck his apple back in his mouth while he narrowed his eyes at the quartermaster.
