Face Claim: Tim Damen
OOC Name: Lux
CHARACTER NAME: Inigo Westwood
AGE: 32
CURRENT RESIDENCE: Aldsage (Trying to survive the island, originally from Teronna).
APPEARANCE: Inigo is the definition of tall and handsome. He stands at roughly 6'2" and weighs in at 209lbs. Toned with a little muscle weight on him, he can look downright intimidating, especially with the tattoos across his chest and down his left arm. Dark blue eyes sit inside an angled face that is almost always adorned with trimmed facial hair, a scowl typically resting across his features. Freckles are dusted across his cheeks and nose, making him look benevolent - especially when he sets those pretty blues on you. His hair nearly matches his freckles in color, as his dark brown hair fades into a dark, dirty blonde towards its ends. More often than not, his hair, falling just to his collar bone in length when let down, is kept tied into a top knot.
Adorning his body are various scars, the most notable being the unruly scar across his back from his left shoulder blade to his right hip, telling its tale of his survival in Aldsage over the past few years. The second most notable are the indented scars on his right ankle where one of the clan's predator traps had snapped onto his ankle. It was pure luck he hadn't lost it when the metal clamped onto him. His hands are covered in various callouses and cuts that healed badly over time, knuckles an inclination to his time as a criminal in Teronna.
As far as clothing is concerned, Inigo is a simple man. Thick, wool-lined pants, a long-sleeve button-up, and a thick coat cover his frame during the winter months with boots made of hardy leather to protect his feet. During the warmer months, he opts to go shirtless when not in the simple v-necks, oftentimes wearing thin, cloth pants to keep him cool.
MARITAL STATUS: Single - he's more or less your typical player/heart breaker.
FAMILY MEMBERS:
Mother and father - both deceased.
Older brother [36] - whereabouts unknown.
Younger brother [26] - whereabouts unknown; last seen with older brother.
POSITION/OCCUPATION: Survivalist
GRAMARYE GIFT (if any): N/A
PERSONALITY: Inigo is a loud and boisterous man, oftentimes the life of the party when he's had a bit too much to drink. Absolute in his decisions with a stubbornness that could match that of a mule, he's oftentimes referred to as proud and unfaltering. Somewhat narcissistic by nature, Inigo doesn't handle rejection and failure well. It wouldn't be difficult to call him a sore loser and determine that he's the type of man that thinks the world owes him something. Of course, anything he receives has never been quite enough, and he always longs for more. With a taste of the good life on his tongue, Inigo works hard to create a name for himself, wanting to be somebody that will go down in history, no matter if his tale is a dark one in the history books. So long as his name rings across the world, he couldn't care less how it happens, either through honor or his criminal pursuits, it truly makes no difference.
There isn't much in the way of good inside the callous man. He's manipulative, often gruff and dismissive, and doesn't take no for an answer, under any circumstance. There's a darkness in his heart that seems to infect his very soul, poisoning any good that he might have once had. Refusing to take accountability for the course of his life, he instead lives loyally by the idea that fate is pre-planned and cannot be changed - that destiny rules all things in the world and no one individual can alter it. In truth, self-sabotage is the name of the game. In an enigmatic turn of events, it would seem that Inigo views himself as worthless deep down, not worthy of even the most basic kindnesses the world has to offer. Of course, he won't even admit that to himself much less someone else, so the bravado facade is put on instead, masking the insecurities that plague him.
To put it simply, there is a deep sadness in the man that is always masked by a false sense of self-confidence, always buried deep under the layers, refusing to be set free or felt. The bitterness and otherwise "fuck you" attitude, a cover-up for the person that he truly is; the person that he truly wishes to be. When he looks in the mirror, it is clear that he sees the face of his father instead of his own reflection and it is a reality that haunts him each day, which is likely why he takes to avoiding his reflection, even in the glint of water. Still, it would appear that the very things within himself that he sub-consciously avoids are the exact same things that he's fooled even himself into believing do not exist.
HISTORY: As it would seem, Inigo's life had been on the decline even before his birth within the kingdom of Teronna. His father had never been a caring man, and his mother was scatter-brained at best. Being born the middle child meant two things for certain: 1) He was, more often than not, overlooked in favor of his older and younger brother. 2) His parents had been ill-prepared for their firstborn, much less their second and third. As the slightest stroke of luck would have it, his father was at least delighted to know that he had three sons he could raise into strong me. It's just such a shame that his visions for the boys never came to fruition. Perhaps their lives could have been much, much different.
Despite the constant turmoil in the Westwood household, the three brothers did their best to enjoy life when it was allowed. They would spend most of their days playing, oftentimes pretending to be soldiers marching into battle or pirates sailing the seas, sparring with each other playfully. It wasn't uncommon for them to leave their home during times of arguing between their parents and return only when the dust had settled. Though, the dust never really settled. Instead, it simply calmed until the next storm would come, wreaking havoc in its wake. But then, those storms would have been much more welcome than the events that soon followed.
At the tender age of 8, Inigo's older brother a mere 12 and the youngest having just turned 2, their entire world shattered into tiny fragments, unable to be put back together. They'd all three watched in horror as their father murder their mother, hacking at her repeatedly with an ax, not stopping even when she was clearly dead. Tossing the bloody murder weapon to the floor, he made his way to the hearth where antique swords were kept above the mantle. Removing one, he came to stand over to the three boys who wailed in incomprehensible sorrow and fear, looking all three of them in the eyes before bringing the sword out in front of him, plunging it through his heart. The man had never been caring or even nice. In fact, he'd tormented the family for the boys' entire lives, and likely their mother long before their marriage. His death did not impact him like their mother's and it never would.
The oldest had left nearly immediately, disappearing into the night without so much as a goodbye, leaving the 8-year-old Inigo to care for himself and his 2-year-old brother. Too young to get a job to take care of the toddler, Inigo did all he knew to do; he turned to petty theft, stealing the things they needed. They lived on the streets, begging when they could, stealing when it was necessary, though Inigo was careful to keep his life hidden from his brother. If anything, he wanted to make sure that his little brother turned out to be a much better man than the one he was quickly becoming.
For the next 10 years, this was their life. Inigo had been in and out of jail over the last two years and as word reached his older brother, the now 22-year-old returned. He scolded Inigo for his way of life though it was apparent that he'd been able to find work and make a decent name for himself. His clothing was nearly on par with nobles and he'd even spared a hefty penny, all while belittling Inigo and insisting the young Westwood would amount to nothing. In the blink of an eye, both of his brothers were gone, nothing to ease Inigo's worry of their whereabouts save for a note.
"I've decided it best I take my leave. Our younger brother will be coming with me, lest he become just like you - just like father."
That was all it had said and Inigo had seemed to lose every part of himself at that moment. Everything he'd done had been for his little brother - the little brother that had been abandoned with him 10 years ago, only to be swept away when he was old enough to fend for himself. Burning the note, Inigo decided that life carried on, no matter what. He convinced himself that he no longer had anyone to hold him down, though deep within his heart, he missed his brothers, even if he'd grown to resent the oldest of the siblings.
At the age of 20, Inigo fell into a gang, stealing good and priceless other things when they could get their hands on it. They reported back to a single man who called himself The Father. He dictated every move of the gang, every job. Inigo was among his favorites, mostly due to his ability to get the job, any job, done. There was theft, sabotage of military ships, murder - nothing was off the table, and Inigo was more than happy to oblige. He was with the gang for 9 years, quickly climbing the ranks to be the second in command to The Father. However, jealousy soon took hold of some of the other gang members, leading to the robbery of a royal ship that quickly turned sour.
Half his men had been cut down, most of his crew blaming the 29-year-old and giving him an ultimatum. He could either take his chances with the ocean or they could cut him down where he stood. Inigo had tried to fight, but when a powerful storm began to rock the ocean - and subsequently their ship - Inigo was tossed overboard, finding himself washed up on the shores of Aldsage, sunburned from the summer sun. For the next three years, the name of the game was survival and survive he has. In the three years he's been stranded, Inigo has learned how to navigate the island, avoiding the clans as he does so. His time on the island has only served to make him even colder and distant than before. Even so, it would appear that it's his only option to stay here now as he would have long been marked a traitor by the gang and would quickly be killed if caught within the kingdom of Teronna ever again, though it doesn't stop his longing to return to find his brothers, if they even still live.
