FACTS ::
- Growing up in the noble house of Valdare, propriety and honor was all she ever knew. She was relatively happy with her life; there was no sob story about her parents being cruel or abusive. They found her a handsome suitor to marry, one she was quick to accept and fall in love with. His name was James Ainsley.
- Halfway through their first year of marriage, it became known that James wasn't who he claimed to be. He was a known con artist throughout Elysium, marrying wealthy women in order to steal their riches and gain access to their accounts. Devastated, Carys was still too infatuated with the man to leave him or allow the authorities to take him. Instead, she ran away with him, learning the tricks of his trade.
- Together, they conned many men and women, never staying in one spot for too long lest they be caught. Yet it was when her husband began to force her into giving herself to other men that this harsh reality began to crash down upon her.
- Although James was now abusive, Carys hadn't the heart to kill him...so one night, after drugging his tea, she fled from the home they currently occupied with all the money they had stolen. She never saw him again.
- Conning was all she knew then, and she would keep up the charade for years after; changing her name to Annelise Beaumont. And it would seem, by changing her name, she ultimately changed herself.
- There was a darkness in her head, constantly craving the thrill of a good con, the weight of a pouch full of gold...then once she tasted her first drop of blood, it became a new trend when the need called for it. Marrying wealthy men was the easy part, but finding new and different ways to off them was a challenge she yearned for. Whether by knife, poison, or other means, all of Carys' husbands turned up dead...with her never around.
- Eventually, the Rogue Court caught wind of her and accepted her into their ranks. She was provided with better protection and the means to get jobs done, soon enough earning the highest position a woman could- the Rogue Queen. This meant she was to stay in Tresteria and had to filter back into her own life as Countess Carys Valdare.
- To cover the scar along her neck, she always wears high collars or thick ribbon choker necklaces.
- Most that deal with her believe she is heartless, but should anyone get close enough, they would realize that there's a heart in her chest somewhere. Even if it's small.
- A part of her sometimes wishes she would leave her conning life and settle down. But in truth, she's afraid of love.
