Tendy
CHARACTER NAME: Briar Curt
AGE: 26
CURRENT RESIDENCE (Which land in Elysium will they live?): Wherever the Brotherhood currently is.
APPEARANCE (General info, Height/weight, Eye/Hair color, build, etc.):
Briar is slim and thin. Despite this she has lean muscle that she keeps in tip top shape all the time. She has wavy blonde hair and soft brown eyes that don’t look so soft or welcoming. Instead they’re cold and unforgiving. Her long blonde hair usually hangs loosely to the middle of her back. When it isn’t down and she’s on a job, she keeps it up in a tight bun or a braid. It's only when it's up like this, that you see her beauty. With plump red lips, a light dusting of freckles going across her straight nose, oval face and high cheek bones she's sure to turn a few heads if she hasn't cut it off with a piercing glare. She has a graceful walk, yet it is full of purpose. A silent deadly purpose. Dressing usually in tight fitting tunics, a leather vest, black pants, and boots for her everyday attire. Two silver rings can be found on her right hand. One on her thumb and the other on her right ring finger. On the left hand is a gold ring on her middle finger. She wears them as a memory of her biological family. Wielding two swords makes her quiet the force to be reckoned with. What she lacks in strength, she makes up with in speed and dexterity.
Her slender figure has a nice proportionate touch of womanly curves, and she keeps herself fit and well toned. Her skin is a tad on the paler side, yet it has still been kissed by the sun. She keeps herself looking clean and proper despite being a mercenary and takes her job seriously. She is not one to usually fool around so she holds a serious air about her. She usually fends off unwanted company because of it. Her hands are calloused from the constant sword practice she does, and she keeps her mind exercised and healthy by practicing her magic with those she trust. She is an overall very healthy woman who likes exercise and a good run.

PERSONALITY:
Those who don’t really know Briar wouldn’t really know her personality. You can’t really tell what it is and that’s because she can’t talk. She’s a mute. After experiencing something so traumatic as a young girl, she damaged her vocal chords. Her mind put up protective barriers as well, preventing her from ever trying to talk again. So naturally, she is quiet. She can be kind, but it’s rare. You only see it briefly in her brown eyes, before they go cold again. She does not give trust easily, is stubborn, and will not do anything if she thinks it’s too dangerous or risky. She will not put someone’s life in danger to benefit others. With this in mind you’d think she was a good person with a right mind set and a good head on her shoulders. This is true, except she is also merciless. She's valued in the mercenary ranks. Able to end a persons life without thought of the consequences, or the mental damage it might cause her. She is an empty shell or war machine while on the job. If she's ordered to do something she will see it through. Always.
Briar suffered greatly when everything was taken from her.Even more so after the loss of her lover and son. She’s cold and isn’t the frail little flower she once was years ago. She had to grow up if she wanted to survive in the world. She’s always cautious and on the defensive even when she isn’t on a job. Some may call her paranoid, she calls it being prepared for anything. Which is important for her. She always likes to be prepared and feels frustrated and angry when she isn't. She hates not knowing things. She gives off the cold shoulder, or can be perceived as being arrogant or cocky when you first meet her. She tends to give the persona of ignoring you at first unless your persistent. And if you are, you better make sure she likes you quickly or she'll give you hell later. Especially if you don’t know she can’t talk. It may seem like she’s ignoring you, but she isn’t. Instead it’s the complete opposite. She’s observing everything about you and trying to determine if she likes you or not. She’s highly observant and intelligent. She misses nothing and is always calculating. She likes having plans and making strategies. She takes pleasure in figuring out guard positrons for jobs and the pace of action that should be taken.
Briar usually communicates with hand signals or facial expressions. Granted she only uses facial expressions if she likes you. Otherwise she has a hard look on her face or she is always expressionless. She doesn't communicate with paper and quill. Even though she can write and read perfectly fine, she finds it a complete waste of paper and perfectly good ink. If she has something really important to say and it's too complicated to communicate through hand gestures she's more inclined to write it down. But she'll burn the paper afterwards not wanting anyone to know about the conversation. She tends to stick by herself or near her wolfhound Fergus. She whistles a lot to get people’s attention and is usually the person who gives the signal for jobs. On the rare chance she is kind it’s usually to children and them only. She’s often perceived as cold and distant.
HISTORY:
The Tale of Briar Curt is a sad and unfortunate one. She was the youngest child born to Owen and Grace Curt. Her brother Elias being a few years older than her. They were a small simple family living in Terona, and lived in simpler, peaceful times. That is until the Great Purification. Given the fact Owen was a mystic, the family fled for their lives. Fleeing the riots, they settled on the outskirts of Nymca Forrest with several other families. They continued to live peacefully for a few years until the mystics decided to rise up. Owen Curt being one of them. Her father had a need for revenge, and he saught it, but it was at a cost.
What was a tale for mothers to get their children to go to bed, was actually something that was very real. And in the eyes of a little girl who had barely learned she was a mystic as well it was terrifying. The Wardens came. Slaughtering the mystics in her village. Afraid for her children, Grace told Elias to take his sister and run as the war continued. Briar watched as her parents and several other villagers were slain at the hands of the Wardens, and was never the same since. She'd lost her voice that day, screaming at the fires and bloodshed she'd witnessed. Elias he to ultimately knock her out to keep her quiet, and when she awoke she found herself with her brother hiding in an abandoned tree. In the days that followed the Curt children managed to find themselves a boat, that would take them over seas. And for a time, they were safe.
Briar's voice never recovered, and it wasn't long before she had told her brother she herself had magic. The two agreed they would never talk about it, and Briar was to never use her magic unless absolutely necessary for their safety. The two of them moved around a lot. Never settling, Elias took odd jobs, and Briar did what she could to help. Eventually the two managed to get taken in by a sell sword who taught them how to fight. Briar took to it like it was second nature. Having an inapt ability with a sword, she was quite good, and grew into quite the fierce quiet woman that she was.
When she was eighteen she joined the Brotherhood, and met the love of her life quickly after. For once, she thought she was going to finally get the happiness she deserved. Zachariah had been a quiet, kind man. Someone who had grounded her and supported her in her endeavors, and the made quite the pair. When she fell pregnant with their son, it was difficult for her to adjust her lifestyle as a mercenary, but the small family made due, and decided to settle in Aralore. Briar left the Brotherhood to focus on being a mother, and for once, being happy. What they weren't prepared for was the war...
They had tried to get out, but weren't able too, and Briar was frozen in time once again as she watched everyone she cared about slain before her eyes. Elias fell first, and then Zachariah. Briar had taken Cailan and ran as fast as her legs could carry them, but they were stopped, and she defended him with everything she had. Only it wasn't enough, and she was badly injured. When she woke up, he was gone... She spent the following days searching desperately for him while trying to grieve for the loss of her brother and lover. She never found Cailans body and to this day the loss and lack of closure for her son haunts her. The only thing she had left of her family was their wolf hound Fergus. A mere puppy at the time, he's become her last remaining family member. The last thing she'll ever love.
After the war, Briar and Fergus returned to the Brotherhood. Colder, and more of an empty shell then she once was. She's thrown herself into work, making that become her life. She's recovered as much as she can in the year and half since the war. But there is an emptiness within her, and ache that refuses to heal. She hopes more time will eventually heal her from all that she's lost.
