And my mood, it changes all the time
I smile with tears in my eyes
But I can't be acting like this
Doubting you for the rest of my life
Face Claim: Kiernan Shipka
OOC Name: Cassiopeia
CHARACTER NAME: Anemone (Ann) Sellar
AGE: 21
CURRENT RESIDENCE: Tresteria
APPEARANCE: Anemone is a pixie-like young woman with dirty blonde hair and dark brown eyes. Although she is short (only 5'2) her figure is still quite feminine and she does not appear to be a child. She prefers to wear bright colors whenever possible, and likes to wear her hair half up and half down.
MARITAL STATUS: Single
FAMILY MEMBERS: Anemone is the youngest of five daughters, each with A names.
POSITION/OCCUPATION: Lady in Waiting for Eleesa
GRAMARYE GIFT: none
PERSONALITY: Anemone is a kind young woman with an overwhelming desire to please those around her. She sees it as her purpose to make others happy however she can and to help them if she is able. This often leads to her overworking herself, although she won't admit as such unless she works herself absolutely to the point of exhaustion and physically can't continue. She admires the strength and reserve of Queen Eleesa, and the perseverance of Queen Alexandria, and she strives to be more like them. Still, her eager and cheerful personality always slip through, and she hasn't yet achieved their level of grace. Her devotion to Queen Eleesa is absolute: she would literally die for her.
Within the Last Few Months: After her first 'encounter' with King Edward (see history) Anemone has become more withdrawn and quiet, sometimes lost in thought for several minutes at a time. She refuses to discuss what has brought such a sorrowful look to her face.
LIKES: sweets, pretty dresses, fresh flowers, having her hair brushed or played with, being barefoot, Queen Eleesa
DISLIKES: anyone who is rude to the queen, cold weather, bitter foods, feeling useless
HABITS: picking at her fingernails, tapping her foot or bouncing her leg
SELF IMAGE: Anemone currently feels that most people see her as an object, and a broken/tainted one at that. Because of her pregnancy she is sure that she will be forced to leave court and her friendship with Avalynn, Alice, Ely, and the other ladies. She feels that the queen has been kind to her thus far but she won't be able to keep her husband's bastard at court.
REPUTATION: Most people involved at court have likely heard that Anemone was the late king's mistress for about a 5 month period before his death. Whether or not they knew she was unwilling depends on if they were at court often enough to see interactions between her and Edward. She was very clearly upset by him despite the fact that she did not try to stop him after their first encounter. During that period she was quiet and withdrawn.
And I made myself believe
Other people wanted to hurt me
I took my bitterness and made it sweet
I took a broken heart and made it beat
HISTORY: As the youngest of 5 daughters, Anemone was the baby of the family. As a young child she was often the center of attention, but as her sisters 'came out' into society and began to marry, she soon became ignored. In order to earn the attention she so craved, she worked to make herself indispensable to them. This worked for a time, until she was the only one left at home and became increasingly lonely.
Anemone joined the court approximately a year ago, after her elder sister Anita married and left the position of Lady-In-Waiting to Eleesa. She had already had a kind of hero-worship for the king and queen thanks to the way she was raised (in a family of extremely dedicated courtiers), but meeting the queen and finding that she was everything she had hoped (and in fact, somewhat a tragic figure, which only endeared her more to Anemone) quickly solidified her devotion. She saw how the queen suffered from her husband's neglect and that of the kingdom, and strove to give her the attention she deserved. She soon came to believe that the queen could be an even better ruler than her husband, but she knew better than to answer that--instead she determined to do everything she could for her in any way possible, whether that was helping with day to day tasks or something more.
Many of the queen's ladies came and went even in a short time, due to the King's increasingly ravenous behavior. Anemone, however, politely declined his advances soon after her arrival, and for some months had no trouble with the King. In fact, she was utterly cordial with him and strove to make him laugh when she could, for she knew that if he was happy, the queen's life would be easier.
Things seemed to be going smoothly in Anemone's new life until she left to fetch a book the queen had left behind in the king's rooms one evening and found herself alone with the king. She attempted to reject his advances, first politely, and then with shouting, but her pleas went unanswered. The king took what he wanted by force.Completely forgetting the book, Anemone retired to her own room in a nearly catatonic state.
The next day, when Eleesa asked what had happened, Anemone confessed, blaming herself for what had happened. Eleesa assured her it was not her fault, and that she did not need to be forgiven. This is what took Anemone from fierce admiration to being absolutely willing to die for the queen.
Anemone's 'relationship' with the king continued in much the same fashion--he set out to catch her alone like it was a game. She never fought again, however, she simply shut down whenever he came for her.
Anemone was relieved by the king's death, although she would never admit it out loud. She is still at the Queen's side whenever possible and hopes to do whatever she can to ensure that Eleesa is treated fairly and allowed to reign as regent while her sons grow up.
Anemone is pregnant with Edward's bastard.
