About
Tresteria has always been ruled by a king. The Demarais family line extends back at least three generations, if not more, being one of the oldest royal family lines. The kingdom has been a strong force that many other kingdoms have been intimidated by, mainly due to their size and dedication to their militant forces. With its mountainous terrain, it leaves a lot of the lands disjointed and spread far due to the long traveling time it takes to get around the islands. But the kingdom as a whole is a very strong nation when they come together and work with one another.
Recent History: King Edward Demarais had gone mad with control and power, trying to take over Aralore and the queen (despite his brother's marriage to her to align the two kingdoms). It was determined that the king had been poisoned by one of his most trusted advisers, which caused him to go mad. Edward has died and the kingdom refuses to allow his wife, the queen, to rule until their son is of age. The council of Tresteria will appoint a regent until the rightful king (Edward II) is of age.

Society
Tresteria is a very patriarchal society. Women are not treated very equally and are often expected to marry into wealth and produce children to continue their husband's line. Family lines are everything to Tresteria. Women of noble families are often set up into arranged marriages and expected to raise a family. It is rare that a woman make a name for herself in Tresteria, and most of the occupations/businesses are run by the men on the island.

Military
The Tresterian army is valued highly and is important to the kingdom. They have an entire island dedicated to its military base and strive to ensure that their army is one of the strongest. Boys at the age of 13 are to begin training, whether they plan to be in the military or not. At 18, the individual can decide if they wish to continue in the military or not. Many remain because they understand how important and honorable it is to be part of Tresterian's army.
