. the HISTORY of a KINGDOM .
It is written in legend, tucked away in a dark, dusty corner of a sealed library, that Teronna had not just been built by the hands of men. Although King Allarick wishes his subjects to believe his ancestors poured their own energy and sweat into the creation of the kingdom, in truth, it had been touched by the essence of magic.
The great sorcerer, Maledine came upon the path to a solitary village, whose people showed greatness in virtue, chivalry and dedication. They struggled every day to protect their lands from the imposing neighbor kingdom, wishing to be left in peace without the strict rule of another leadership.
Blood was shed as lives were lost in what could have been the very end of the fearless village...until the sorcerer stepped in. Although the villagers were few in number, their hearts were pure and their strength greatly matched those of their enemy. So, he granted them a wondrous favor, and made their small village into a grand kingdom so they could no longer be oppressed by anyone else and live freely as themselves.
The villagers rejoiced in their victory and at this magnificent gift, thus making the sorcerer their king. Maledine would lead them fairly until the end of his long days.
For generations to come, king after king would sit upon the throne as Teronna continued to flourish and remain absent of foreign rule...Until Allarick Le'Orin was handed the crown, along with his mystic wife, Vivian.
All was well for the first few years- magic still roamed the land, giving Teronna a sense of wonder and living up to the legendary stories of traveling bards. However, as time went on, Allarick became less and less trustworthy of those with magic. His mind became corrupted, tainted with the ideas that the Mystics were taking over, that his wife, perhaps, was enchanting him. He kept such worries inside, but Vivian had been able to see through his mask and feared for the child growing inside her womb.
Soon, riots began to spread throughout the lands, the citizens turning against the Mystics as the distrust grew. Rumors started that the queen was in charge of this all, that she simply wanted the crown all to herself. Vivian managed to thwart such horrid ideas in order to give birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl that she would name Cera.
As the riots heightened and the Mystics were killed or driven out of the kingdom, the queen held tightly to her child, but only for a few moments. The guards burst into the room and tore Vivian away from her infant, dragging her away to the cold dungeon. Her own husband had sentenced her to death.
Allarick went to see the child, knife gripped firmly in hand...but as he gazed down upon the innocent face, his heart sank. Though he managed to have his own beloved wife killed, he could not bring himself to murder the baby girl. He vowed to keep her mind free of magic, of everything that had happened. She would be his daughter, Princess of Teronna, and nothing else.
And so, the years passed and Teronna had mended its wounds from that fateful day. Magic was officially banned and any who possessed it would be killed without exception.
King Allarick assembled some of the best warriors across the land, creating the order of Wardens- witch hunters who tracked down and executed any Mystic on sight.
But, for how long would this last? Small rumors were whispered upon the wind that the Mystics could be on the rise again, to take back the kingdom that they believed was rightfully theirs.
