Divorce proceedings might have been his favorite, but today, they were just stressful. For starters, the wife had been completely off her rocker and the husband? He was no better, the unfaithful coward. At the end of the day, Elias had been a little more than frustrated by the whole ordeal. The wife wanted everything after finding out about her husband's infidelity. Of course, the husband blamed the wife for his wandering dick, saying that if she'd taken to tending to her wifely duties as she should have been... Well, let's just say that was the straw that had immediately put Elias on the wife's side, winning her the favor during court. As much of an asshole as Elias might have been, even he drew a hard line at men thinking women owed them something simply for existing and being married. That bastard deserved every bit of what he got and in the end, Elias had made a pretty penny.
The hearing had drawn out for more than several hours, leaving the barrister annoyed, mentally exhausted, and ready to just be within the solitary confines of his home. He'd had more than enough of people for the day. If it wasn't clear enough by his unusually rushed steps, it was definitely clear by the scowl that replaced his typical smirk. But, as of late, fate always seemed to have other plans.
He turned down his street, still walking at a fast pace, pinching the bridge of his nose between his index finger and thumb when another body suddenly connected with his. His annoyance heightened, he snapped. "Watch where you're-" The hissed words trailed off as he raised his eyebrows at the woman before him. "Oh." Was all he could manage to mutter.

Emma had Dressed herself rather elegantly, her hair pined up to allow curls to hang in her face with a simple gemstone hairpin to hold it in place. She did this when she made personal deliveries and so today she was dressed up to be more than presentable. It was to deliver a necklace to a couple who was celebrating thirty years married and it was a matching ring set but also a surprise choker necklace that she fitted to the lovely wife. The compliments she received warmed her and the tip for being the one to personally deliver it to them added to it. Handing the coin purse to her guard for safe keeping, she held her book in her hand that tacked the list of delivers that she did today and that was the last one. With her inked pen, she wrote a little note, thinking the way was clear and safe from anyone in the way. The lady was sorely wrong in this regard though. With her nose in her book, she stumbled right into a rushing gentleman and felt her face warm up. Why hadn't she been warned? Looking at the moment he spoke, her hazel eyes went a touch wide as she looked at the gentleman she walked into. Holding her book against her chest, it took a small moment to find her words and give finally a pained laugh. "Forgive me my lord...I was checking my record book," she politely apologized, her gaze not wavering from his. She normally wasn't one to stare but she never looked down when it involved speaking to the opposite sex, so for the moment she didn't care she was staring.

She was.. Small. Very small as she stood before him, his head tilted downwards to look at her. For a moment she said nothing and it was almost impressive, the way she held his eye. Then polite words finally followed, something of an apology. Elias huffed a laugh, a crooked grin replacing the scowl.
“Elias.” He said, not bothering to correct her on his status. He gestured towards her and the guard with one hand as he spoke again. “And I’m sure that was entirely my fault, so please, forgive me, Miss…?” His words trailed off into the question as he turned back to her, outstretching his hand. He didn’t want to assume her title, though from the way she was dressed, and the company of a guard, it would be easy to assume she was of wealth.
His blue eyes trailed to her feet then back up, his features softening into a smirk as they met her face again. “You look..” There was a pause as he tilted his head slightly to one side. “Familiar.” He said, almost as if he’d forgotten the word, but his smirk widened into a cocky grin, insinuating otherwise.

Emma just looked at him, taking in his eyes and then the features of his face. He looked like one of her gemstones; carved to perfection and beauty that one dreamt of. Then he laughed, a grin replacing the harsh look on his face made him appear even that much more attractive to her.
Closing her book carefully, Emma smiled a bit more, a dimple threatening to show now as she dipped into a small curtsy, "Emma Savatier," she told him politely. All she really wanted to say was her first because right now, to hell with proper greetings, "Please though, call me Emma, Elias," she offered to him. Yep, she was saying to hell with it in her own way.
The word familiar just made her shrug a little, her holds moving to hold her book against her lap, "Well, have you ever been to my shop? I own and run Bijoux Savatier," she told him. Her tone was curious though, she would remember meeting him but if he only ever came in passing it was possible she never truly crossed his path. That made her a touch sad, "Would you care to walk with me?"

It was often that people weren't put off by his scowl accompanied by a harsh tone, and even though it had softened with this woman - who'd introduced herself as Emma - he was still surprised at her friendliness; even more so by the way she tossed formalities aside. It was enough to intrigue him and he had to admit, her voice was probably the sweetest sound to ever grace his name. He liked it quite a lot, he decided. How odd.
"Emma." He repeated, as if making a mental note of it. However, he simply wanted to say it aloud, feeling how it rolled off his tongue. It suited her in it's elegance, almost as if there was something more to behold in it's outward simplicity. "It is a pleasure to meet you." His tone held a heavy insinuation again.
At her question, he shook his head. "I can't say that I have, though I've passed by a time or two." He told her. He'd never had any reason to visit a jeweler before, but he'd already come to the conclusion that he now did, in fact, have a damn good reason.
She asked, then, if he cared to walk with her and his brows furrowed in confusion. The agitated state he'd been in that had only moments before been propelling him to his home had all melted away as the two began their exchange. He passed a glance over his shoulder in the direction he'd originally been headed before looking back at Emma. "What sort of gentleman would I be to decline?" He answered with a question of his own as he grinned, offering his arm to her, even if only out of formality and custom.
"I suppose you are out on business today?" He asked her as he gestured towards her book. "If you have such high-class customers, then you must do exceptional quality work." He said, as if attempting to praise her in a way.
