Cormac laughed at her health assessment and nodded, “well, good thing for that.” He caught her looking him over again and it only made him grin. He didn’t mind her eyes on him. But he knew he needed to tread lightly- especially since this was Maeve’s sister. Though this was just innocent banter, was it not? There was no harm done and he was certain Anneliesa was only playing with him. It was amusing, to say the least.
Yet, he was flustering her, and was she hinting that she wished to spend a few evenings with him? He laughed and tilted his head, giving her a playful glance, “and one public outing, hmm?” How specific. He exaggerated his expression as if he had to really think about it. “I suppose I could manage that…” But was she really asking him or just being playful? The line was rather blurred.
He felt her fingers brush along the back of his shoulder, and he resisted the urge to shudder against the sensation. Bright blue eyes found hers as she spoke. He did typically wear a more serious expression, but it was difficult to wear it now when Anneliesa seemed to draw him out of that demeanor. “Oh does it, now?” He grinned, giving her a questioning glance.
Anneliesa seemed to have a more serious side to her, as well. He knew her as a proper and respectable lady. Every time he had seen or interacted with her previous to this, she seemed like she held everyone an arm’s length away from her. Yet, here she stood, close to him, her fingers curiously touching his skin, holding onto him still. He found himself liking this side of her.
He laughed as she admitted to thinking him more fun now and he gasped playfully in a feigned sense of offense. Did she not think he was fun previous to this? “As opposed to before you saw me nude? Was I just another dull, boring man in leather armor?” He laughed, his tone giving away that he obviously was not offended and he was just teasing her.
And then she was asking him over for dinner. He smirked and pretended like he needed to think really hard on his decision before he finally grinned and nodded. “When? Right now? Tomorrow? In a few days?” He chuckled quietly and shrugged his shoulders. “I would love dinner at your place,” he answered her seriously, but still a playful hint in his tone.

Anneliesa smiled at that one, “Yes because if you were hurt, well, wouldn’t it be my duty to make sure that you got the proper treatment needed to tend to your wounds?” she told him with a sweet playful smile at that. She was rather enjoying this little banter between them, the light teasing laced with flirting had her really not wanting this to stop because this was a whole new side to him that she hadn’t seen.
The line was growing a bit blurred but the more she thought about it, the more she was liking the idea of going on outings with him- possibly dates? She wasn’t sure, she might have to see if he actually had a sweet spot for her or if this was all playful, “MMhmm, I tend to not be an overly public person so I don’t need to be out all the time, so just one,” she was decently private with only Maeve knowing her better than others.
Anneliesa’s fingers continued to move on their own, just gently touching his warm skin with her soft fingertips. She met his gaze with her own hazel green eyes. His were so blue, like a lagoon almost; truthfully she could stare into those depths for hours just in wonder if they might change colors, “Yes, the smile on your face lights up your eyes more making them even more vibrant and enticing to look into. When you wear that serious expression while you work or are thinking though, your eyes are darker it seems as your lost in your head almost,” she told him with a little smile. Even if he didn’t notice, she often paid attention to the going ons and what people were doing, just silently observing things.
She was protective of herself, she was not pushed into a marriage like her sister was- no she was the baby of the family and allowed to be a little freer but it left her wanting and not knowing how to put that into words. She had settled to be content with her sisters children and family, the aunt everyone loved and looked to- with family it was easy to be relaxed but everyone saw her as a serious woman who took nothing from anyone.
Now she was laughing, a hidden dimple popping out on her cheeks as she shook her head some, “No. I thought you were too serious though, made me wonder if you always wore that expression or if there was a way to change that look...you know I had thought of taking the weather of my quill and tickling your ear once?" she told him, a mischievous smile on her face from it, "Seeing you nude though...well...let me say if I worked with clay I would ask you to be my muse," she told him. A bigger flirt, yes, but she couldn't help it. He had her mouth working faster than her logical brain and so she was turning a little pinker now from what she said.
"Well I was thinking today- that is unless you want to keep popping up out of the ocean in all your glory to startle the ladies in passing," she told him a light tease in her tone but she was happy at that and when he said he would, she would pull the shirt out from behind her back and hold it up to him. She had a rather sudden urge to bolt again with it but with his arm was still snugly wrapped around her, so she would lean into him a bit to give him a bit more of a feel of her body.

Cormac raised a shoulder to his ear in a slight shrug. “Not everyone is as caring to consider it their duty to get someone treatment when they are wounded. Would it really be your duty, or my own?” He smirked a bit. It was obvious she was only playing around, but he decided to go along with it, challenging her a bit. This was also a new side of her that he hadn’t seen before, and he sort of liked it.
He wasn’t much of a public person, himself- unless he had to be. He preferred being alone or in the company of those he cared for or trusted, so he nodded understandably. “Fair enough,” he quietly responded with a smile. “I suppose I should make that one a good one, then?” He wondered if he should make a spectacle of being out in public- perhaps see how much he could embarrass her and if she tried to give him a hard time about it, turn it back around on her for making such a request of him. He grinned at the thought.
But his grin was soon to fade as she continued touching him, grazing her fingers against his skin. She had to know what she was doing, right? Still, he was doing all he could to try and ignore it- to not let it weaken his resolve. But he kept his gaze on her own as if challenging her back to see if she would retreat and eventually avert her eyes from him.
“Yes, the smile on your face lights up your eyes more making them even more vibrant and enticing to look into.” His lips pulled into a smirk and he tilted his head in a curious fashion. She was admitting that his eyes were enticing to her? When she compared them to his more serious expression, he shrugged one of his shoulders. “Most of the time I am lost in my own head.” He typically had a lot on his mind or a lot to do, so his mind ran with various thoughts, making it hard for him to ever take a moment to relax.
His expression went back to being serious, but only slightly, as he listened to her. It wasn’t until she admitted to wanting to tickle his ear with her quill, did he laugh. He tried to imagine what he would have done if she had tried. Before today, he might have shooed her off and looked at her as if she had gone crazy. Though now he was fairly certain she was a bit crazy. Her next comment pretty much proved that. He burst out laughing and gave her a teasing glance. “Oh really?” He grinned and lifted a hand, taking some of her hair and playing with it slightly. “I’d be your muse anytime…” His smile remained, but the tone of his voice was a bit more serious than it perhaps should have been, but was still laced with a bit of playful teasing.
Today. She was inviting him to dinner now? Well, this was progressing rather quickly, wasn’t it? He smirked and shrugged. “I suppose I could continue to startle ladies in passing… Though, I’m not quite sure any of them would be as entertaining as you are.” When she held out his shirt, his free hand reached up and grasped hold of it, though he didn’t pull it from her grip yet. Because she was leaning into him and he wasn’t quite sure if he wanted to let go of her just yet. He looked down at her with a slight grin and kept his eyes on hers. “So… Should I wear clothes to dinner tonight?” He took his shirt from her before he slowly removed his hand from around her.

Anneliesa gave a wry smile to him, her head tilting to the side a little, “Well I’ve often heard that men neglect their own welfare so sometimes it takes a woman to point things out to them so that they do take care of themselves.” she countered with a sweet innocent like smile to him. She wasn’t phased by the little challenge, in fact, she was happily meeting it head-on because she was truly enjoying the little banter going on between them.
A small nod would leave her, “You should because I would leave it all up to you on what went on,” she told him with a little grin. She oddly wanted that, to go out on a public date with him just to see what he’d do and how he’d react to going out with her. The idea alone had her smiling and eager- let’s see who could make who blush first on that date.
Anneliesa met his gaze head on, she didn’t shy away from the look but he would find she wasn’t attempting to do anything really. Truly, she just liked how his skin felt under her fingertips and she just wanted to continue, so she did. Her touch was gentle, her nails lightly scratching along his skin before moving to another tracing pattern of touch. If he wasn’t telling her to stop, then why should she?
“And what often has you lost in thought the if I might pry?” she inquired of him. He always seemed to be thinking, to be in his head but like this? He seemed different and more energetic- lively in the best way possible and she truly was growing a bit smitten by it.
Oh Anne did have a little crazy in her but it was well contained and put away but sometimes it slipped out a little bit. She would nod at him as he tugged at her soft hair, her eyes doing a little flutter from the motion. His offer though had her lips parting a little in surprise, a slight pink rising to her cheeks as she then smiled, “Is sketching included on that offer?” she inquired. She may not work with clay but she can draw- it was a silent hobby of hers that she didn’t overly share with others but this? Well, he was challenging her and she wasn’t one to just bow out because she was a little flustered. She would win this chess game between them and the prize? She had no idea but she was eager to play it through.
And now he was flattering her, that would earn a sweet little smile from her, “Probably not, they might hide behind their fans and run off back home,” she told him with a playful tone. Something she should have done, turn around and not stare at him but no, she apparently was a heathen and just stared and teased the man and now she was inviting him for dinner. As he took the shirt, she let her grip relax a little but he still held onto her against him. This did feel nice, to just be held like this and she wondered if he even wanted to let her go, “Surprise me and I’ll surprise you, how about that?” she countered as he let go of her. As he did, she would slide her hand down the back of his shoulder as he pulled the shirt from her, “What are you in the mood for tonight? Roast or steak?” she inquired curiously as she would slide her shawl off to then fix it in the crook of her arms.

Anneliesa was right--men did often neglect their own health and welfare, he was no exception mostly because he was far too busy hand stubborn to worry about himself unless it was absolutely necessary. He smirked and shrugged one of his shoulders to his ear as if he didn’t want to admit that she was right. Men certainly did take care of themselves! What did she know? But the smirk on his face gave him away. There was no way he could argue that she was wrong.
She was going to leave it up to him on what went on for their public date? He grinned and looked at her with a questioning glare. Did she really trust him that much? There were no ground rules? It was totally up to him? He laughed quietly and waved a finger in front of his face. “You might come to regret that, my lady…”
The sensation of her nails lightly scratching along his skin caused him to form tiny goosebumps all over and he fought back the urge to shiver. It was a sensation he didn’t often feel but could get used to. It was relaxing and he could easily turn to mush in her arms if he allowed himself to.
He smirked again at her question and shrugged in response. “Work,” Cormac answered simply. “My mother… Your family… All the things I need to do in the day and the next.” He grinned and shrugged again, “nothing too exciting, I’m afraid.” He stared at her, studying her features for a brief moment before he spoke again. “Though… That might change depending on how dinner and our upcoming dates go…”
Was Anneliesa really asking him if she could sketch him? He breathed a laugh out his nose and shook his head, letting go of her hair. “You said if you worked with clay… Nothing about sketching.” He scrunched his nose and gave her a fake stern glare. “I’m not sure if I should extend the offer to sketching…You should have to use clay.” He couldn’t help but imagine her working with clay, attempting to put together some sort of model of him that would just look like a blob of a mess. It would be horribly cute and something to tease her about, surely.
Most women may have run off at the sight of a nude man emerging from the ocean- but something told him that Anneliesa wasn’t like most women, and he didn’t mind. He had meant his question as a teasing joke, but now she was challenging him, telling him to surprise her. He laughed and gave her a nod in response as if he were truly considering it. Cormac was certainly more of a gentleman than this- there was no way he would just show up in the nude- not when other DeGraffs could possibly be lingering about.
His shoulders shuddered slightly as her hand slid down the back of him. Bright blue eyes watched her as she slipped her shawl off and down into the crook of her arms. Quietly, he pulled his shirt back on and nodded to her afterward. “Both sound wonderful. Surprise me.” He smiled as he repeated her words.
He finally looked away from her and off into the distance for a brief moment before looking back at her. “Would you like for me to walk you back home?”

It wasn’t to say that Anni was perfect with her own health but the fact she has only been ill a small handful of times and that was due to the seasons, she would assume she’s rather good with her own health. So, she made the rather funny statement that he didn’t know how to tend to himself just for his own reaction and for her to learn a little about how he cared for his own health.
A brow raised on that but she just smiled at that one, “I doubt it, I think you’ll think of something perfect and I look forward to it,” she told him. Oh it was dangerous and she was well aware of that but Anneliesa was more than willing to put it on the line to see what sort of date this rogue could put on for them because then she’d have to find a way to top it.
He would find that he had her full attention as he spoke, nothing taking away her gaze as he told her what he thought of and it did make her smile before a little bit of pink crept up in her face again, “Really now? I may have to disturb you when you are thinking then…just to find out if something exciting is on your mind or not,” she told him, playful but also a hint of bashful in her tone because she was openly admitting to wanting to see what he was doing frequently.
Now he would see her take on a small scrunch of her nose as she stared him down. He wanted to see her fumble over herself with clay now but she did say it, “Fine but the shirt is off when I am,” she told him cheekily- she might have a plan to toss a little clay on him and call it good just for laughs.
Her sister would have told her to run off, to hide her face or just not look but she was old enough to take a gander now wasn’t she? She was still annoyingly unwed at her age but her parents were fine with that it would seem. His nod though had her smiling at that. Her mind then drifted to wonder what her family would think of them as a possible pair.
Anneliesa kept her eyes on him, just watching as he got dress, her hands moving to pull her long hair over her shoulder to play with a smidge, “Mm I can do that again,” she told him with a playful grin and a wink to that. She would see to it that the best steak was prepared for tonight and then a sweet but not too sweet desert. She was having a gentleman over and wanted things to go well.
“Mm I would love that, thank you,” she told him as she would hold her arm out to him. She wanted another opportunity to touch him and so she would use this. He felt warm and alive, he made her feel warm and even more alive than she had in a long time so she was embracing it.

Cormac smirked playfully and shook his head, “Oh--you shouldn’t doubt me. Or challenge me. You have no idea what I am capable of…Should you really be so trusting?” He tsked her. “I might decide to do something so horribly embarrassing or bad, just out of spite, and you’ll never wish to speak to me again.” He gave her a deviant look. Of course, he didn’t mean that--he would never do anything to harm someone purposefully. “I shall very much look forward to seeing your reaction though.”
He noticed the pink creep along her face and it caused him to smile. He was making her blush now? He laughed and shook his head. “So I should start thinking up some random stories to tell you for each time you prod me about what’s on my mind? Can’t a man think in peace?” His tone was sarcastic and playful, hardly meaning his words. If someone asked him what he was thinking, he would probably tell them if it was innocent enough. For the most part, he liked to think of himself as an open book, unless he was needing to keep a secret.
He wondered if she was really serious about wanting to sculpt him with clay. It was rather odd, but he’d take it as a compliment. She seemingly liked what she had seen. He laughed at her ordering him to keep his shirt off if she were to create a clay sculpture of him. “Only since you asked so nicely…” He said sarcastically and so matter of fact.
Bright blue eyes stared at her for a moment as she played with her hair. He caught himself admiring her slightly and couldn’t help but smile. He found himself wondering how things would unfold at dinner. Would they have anything exciting to speak about since he wouldn’t be getting ambushed on the beach in the nude to sort of break that ice?
He nodded in response, offering his arm to her as she agreed to allow him to walk her back home. He was silent for a moment as they walked, and he tried to think of something to say. Yes, now he was panicking that he wouldn’t be so interesting to her at dinner and he would be struggling to keep a conversation going. Then again, Anneliesa seemed to easily draw it out of him. “So what is it that you usually think about?” He countered her from her previous question to him. He honestly was curious about what often ran through her mind.

“Oh but I love to give a good challenge! It’s fun to see how you will rise to it!” she told him before giving him an impish look as he gave a playful threat of doing something so horribly embarrassing, “Mm you never thought that if you did such an embarrassing thing that I’d find a way to get you back? That I wouldn’t just ignore that I’d find a way to seek my own revenge at the time?” she inquired very curiously of him. She was known in her family for playing a prank or three, so she was more than willing to get him back.
Her head would shake at him, curls bouncing around her face a bit as she grinned, “Nope, not when a woman wants to know what’s on his mind and if you think of random stories then i will happily listen and let you in on my own thoughts or random stories, sound fair?” she asked him with a smile. He would soon learn that it was going to be hard to dissuade her of anything due to how stubborn or determined she was; it was hard to tell honestly.
A proud nod would leave her at that, “Mm good! I’ll have you know though that I am a hands on learner so I may have to touch on occasion,” she told him, shaking her head as if it was a terrible thing but truly it wasn’t. Maybe that would make him squirm, her touching him and feeling every indent in his skin to be able to put it into her sculpture.
As his eyes looked at her, she would let her head tilt to the side a bit looking to him. How would eating with him go? What would she learn from him as they enjoyed each other's company and would they continue to like each other or was this just a wonderful one time thing? That thought actually made her a bit sad she didn’t want it to be a one time meeting of them.
Leaning into him as they walked, heading to her home now as she adjusted the shawl around her shoulders as he asked what was normally on her own mind, “Oh…many things. My sister for one, wondering if she is taking care of herself well. Then books and the sacks that need to be fixed and tended to, followed by if I might have time to practice with the sword late but between you and me I’ve grown a tad bit rusty on that because I’ve generally been so focused on my work,” she told him with a bit of a chuckle, “Let’s see… I often think of what tomorrow will bring, will it be something new or the same thing and will I get to see any of my nieces and nephews,” she said with a little chuckle. Though in her heart, she ached to have her own child, to hold her own little bundle so tightly and lovingly to her breast that she knew no harm would ever come to them.

Cormac’s smirk remained on his lips, Anneliesa challenging him back, seemingly uncaring that he might embarrass or mortify her with his decisions of what their date would consist of. She was throwing her trust in him, without fully knowing what he could be capable of. It was almost endearing, but it made him more curious and more willing to do something out of the norm if only to rise to her challenge and see how far he could go before she would consider it to be too far in a sense. He laughed and shrugged his broad shoulders. “I suppose you could seek revenge, and I would have no grounds to argue that... Though, I couldn’t imagine a lady such as yourself stooping to such a level.” He grinned, his voice filled with sarcasm.
He chuckled lightly and nodded his head, “Yes--seems fair enough. I am always willing to hear the thoughts and random stories of others. I am equally as capable of passing my own judgments, as well.” Although Anne seemed to be easy enough to speak with, Cormac did not often speak of his personal life or his emotions with anyone--it just wasn’t the type of person he was. It wasn’t so much that he had things to hide, but more so that he just didn’t pay much mind to himself or think about his past all too often.
Anneliesa was trouble, he could tell. Especially as she admitted that she was a hands-on learner and would need to touch him in order to sculpt him properly. Would he truly complain about that? Absolutely not. He smirked and raised a brow at her, “Is that so?” He playfully challenged her. Though now his mind began to wander and think about her touch--her delicate fingers tracing against his skin. Cormac swallowed hard. Was this a horrible idea? The back and forth in his own mind was beginning to become exhausting, and he wondered if the best decision he could make would be to not show up for dinner this evening. The problem of that was, however, that Anne knew where he lived. There would be no escaping one another, and there would be some sort of hostile discomforting awkwardness that would linger between them if they ever crossed paths. Not only that, word would get around the family quite quickly if Anneliesa decided to complain about him and that he had stood her up.
As she leaned into him, he pushed the thoughts away and listened as she explained what often crossed through her mind. He smiled, walking along with her and listening to her every word. It wasn’t until she finished, that he nodded and spoke quietly. “I did not know you practiced sword… Perhaps I could…” He paused, thinking of his words before a smirk crossed his lips, “help with clearing some of that rust away…” There was a hint of insinuation in his voice, though he quickly pushed it aside as he moved on to the next subject. “What type of work is it that you do, that prevents you from your practice? And which niece or nephew is your favorite?” He gave her a defiant smirk. Cormac knew of all the members of the DeGraff family. He had his own opinions of them and which were his favorites. But he was interested to hear what her thoughts were regarding her own family.

“Oh I am a lady yes but a lady who knows how to get even. You should ask my sister if you don’t believe that I would stoop to such levels with you Cormac,” she told him sweetly but the challenge was there to him right now but the question was would he try and do something to make her want to get back at him.
Anne just smiled at that, “Perfect, then I know I can pry a bit and figure out what is going on in that head of yours but you can also do the same with me,” she would tell him. It was only fair that the offer went both ways for them.
“It is so, is that a problem?” she asked him, her tone sweet and innocent as she spoke to him now. The thought alone of him allowing her to touch him though, to feel him and learning each and every dip of his body. She could feel a warmth rising to her face and making her heart flutter at the thought of it now. Was something wrong with her at being so brazen and bold with him right now and wanting to do such?
His offer was met with her looking up at him now, “You would? And you don’t find it strange that I enjoy swordplay?” she asked him curiously. It was an off hobby for a woman sure but she loved it. “Oh, I rebind books and make journals for others to use. Often it takes hours to finish a single book and to fix it from the normal wear and tear- that's not compared to some that accidentally get water damage, then I just want to crawl under my bed since those take longer,” she told him with a laughing groan.
Oh no! “Nope! I love them all and I do not play favorites, they are all my favorites and I spoil them equally,” she told him with a little laugh. She refused to just pick one out of the many. “If I had to pick a favorite though it is my sister, she’s a doll and sweet to me. She’s never pushed and even though I know she wishes I too had my own family by now, she and our parents have just let me be so I can find my own way,” she told him as her head leaned into him still, “Who is your favorite?” she asked, a playfulness in her tone now.

Cormac liked the idea that Anneliesa was able to take what she could also dish back. “Oh--it’s not that I don’t believe you would stoop to such levels, I just was hoping you’d like me enough not to. And also to take the embarrassment without any backlash, seeing as you are leaving me without restrictions and are asking me to surprise you and make choices.” He laughed and winked at her. His words were filled with sarcasm and playfulness as if he were trying to make it obvious that he wasn’t serious.
“Oh--I didn’t say you could pry, now, did I?” He smirked and poked at her ribs. “But is that the agreement we are making now? You can pry with me, and I can pry with you?” He feigned as if he were thinking really hard about this arrangement, unsure of whether or not he wanted to agree to such terms. “I might need a little more time to think on this before I agree to anything,” he chuckled.
Anneliesa was no innocent woman, despite her sweet and innocent sounding tone as she asked him if her hands-on experiences would be a problem. He stared down at her for a moment before tilting his head to his shoulder. “I mean-- No, probably not on my end.” He winked again before shrugging. “Others might not find it conventional or appropriate. Does that sort of thing bother you?” Then again, she was stealing his clothes and touching him now where others could see such a scene. Perhaps it didn’t bother her at all.
He looked at her curiously and shook his head, “no--why would I find it strange that you enjoy that sort of thing?” Of course, it wasn’t typical for a lady to get involved in swordplay and fighting, but he would never think less of one who did enjoy it. Cormac listened as she answered his question--what kept her from her practice? She bound books. He smiled and laughed, nodding. “Does it take longer, because it takes you time to crawl back out from under your bed?” He teased her. “It might take less time if you just… jump right in and start working on fixing it, no?”
He didn’t think Anneliesa would admit to which family member was her favorite. It was an unfair question for him to ask, but he was sure she knew he was just trying to get a rise out of her. He listened as she described her sister, and he smiled. But when she turned his question back around on him, his smile slowly fell from his lips and he pondered. He could either continue to be light and joking with her as they had been, or he could be honest and serious now. He looked down at her as she leaned against him and he held a more serious expression. After a moment of silent thought, he lifted one of his hands and tapped her nose. “You,” he said plainly. Even before this day, he always felt drawn to her--perhaps because she held his mysteriousness and reserved demeanor that he often felt curious about.

Anneliesa smiled at him, looking at him as she gave a little playful tilt of her head at him, “I do and I don’t give a rats backend for backlash,” she told him honestly. Truly, she didn’t care what others thought. She was old enough to chose her own partner at this rate and didn’t need others meddling though she would accept her siblings because it was them and she loved them.
“You didn’t say I couldn’t either,” she countered with a grin and a nod. Oh, him wanting time to think on it just brought about more of her playfulness, “Well I guess I can let you think on that…but I will I've you a two day deadline because I don’t like to be kept waiting,” she teased, her tone still just as easy going and playful as before with him. She didn’t want to rush this, whatever this was that was growing between them from something rather interesting of an incident.
“Not in the slightest…if I let everyone's opinions dictate things, I’d be in a nunnery by now,” she said with a small sigh and shake of her head. Gosh, she would die if she was forced to be a nun. Let her live like this, catching someone close to their family in the ocean and make him chase her for some clothes.
Her head tilted a bit from side to side at his question, “Because not a lot of noble ladies even want to pick up a sword. It’s not proper but…well, I don’t see when I’ve last been proper honestly in that regards,” she said with a laugh. oh that cheeky man! Her tongue would stick out to him now, “No, it would take just as long,” she said in a playful huff at that. Gently, she’d just lean into him for a moment, just a moment to enjoy his presence more.
Patiently she waited for his answer, though inside she felt a flutter of anxiousness because what if it wasn’t her? What if it was someone else and she would have to find a way to earn his eye. When he looked down at her, she looked up and then just blinked at him tapping her nose. It was her. Now her cheeks were a lovely rosy pink color as he said this and dimples peaked out as she smiled at him, “You really don’t know how special that makes me feel, Cormac” she told him honestly. Anneliesa never vied for attention from others really but from him? For some reason, she just wanted his attention.
