Aoife had never been one for the political intrigues of court, the idle gossip, and finding entertainment in the smallest of things. It all went well over her head more often than not, hints and intrigues, if there was something to be said- then it was best to be said outright. Should she find anyone making Rosemary the subject of their intrigues and whisperings, then Aoife’s threats would be anything but hinted. Rosemary’s words however, brought the older mystic’s brows up in a questioning expression. She didn’t know if she was proud of her little cousin, proud of her for being able to rise above the gossip; or if she was concerned that they had managed to grind her down to that point, to the point where Rosemary no longer cared. ”Fine- but I don’t think it would hurt to remind them who your family are… and what they’re capable of.” Shrugging, Aoife allowed her eyes to follow Rosemary’s around the greenhouse. The Lee Frye side of the family were generally volatile, often military minded, and all fiercely protective.
When the younger woman turned to her with an open smile, Aoife found herself returning it without thinking. Though it never quite reached her eyes these days, the smile she gave her cousin was still warm. ”I’m glad I came too.” The woman said, meaning each and every word. She had missed her cousin, more than she had realised. ”Let’s make sure things stay that way, you deserve to be happy Rosemary.”

Rosemary's grin had just a touch of mischief as she answered, "And so do you, dear Aoife."
She hadn't missed the melancholy that lingered around the edges of her cousin's every move, even her smiles. She wouldn't forget that Aoife had been through the worst kind of hell and kept moving, was still standing, even now. But even if she didn't dare ask about it directly, that wouldn't stop her from reminding the older woman that she ought to be kind to herself, as well.
She tucked her arm in Aoife's and turned them towards the door. "Well, if you're going to stay, I'll have them set a place for you at dinner. If you'd prefer to flee before my parents return home to smother you in social graces, however, I completely understand."

Aoife wasn’t so sure about that, but the woman kept her thoughts to herself on that matter- instead offering her younger cousin a small (albeit somewhat forced) smile. The guilt was proving insurmountable- guilt that she had let him go, guilt that she had not gone with him, and the guilt that she still didn’t know what had happened that night. She wasn’t sure she could move forward at all, and certainly not until she had some form of closure. But not a word was said to Rosemary, instead the mystic felt herself sinking back into her own thoughts.
It took Rosemary taking her arm to bring Aoife back to her senses. ”You will have to excuse me, I don’t think I have it in me today to face your parents.” It was the truth, Aoife loved her aunt, but she was not as fond of her uncle. And now the younger woman had confided in her about Magnus, Aoife was still seething that Lord McIntyre had allowed Rosemary to be treated like that- Aoife was not sure she could be trusted to hold her tongue at present. ”But, I will see you soon- after all we need to start your training as soon as possible.”
She allowed her cousin to lead her towards the door, plant in her free hand. The mystic was glad she had stopped by after all, though she had been dreading it after avoiding her cousin for the better part of a year. Turning at the door, Aoife took Rosemary’s hands in her free one, ”I’ll see you soon Rosemary, promise.”
